Now if you could say that to Shaun Murphy that would be amazing because that dingbat wants games to be more like pool. It hasn't always been pretty (that match against Si was painful viewing) however he's been effective. At the top level, snooker is very much played between the ears. You could see Bingham slowly wilting as Jones took gifted chance after chance and made the most of them. Bingham had similar chances but stuffed up constantly, because he allowed the player and occasion to get to him. Although he was obviously disappointed, Bingham should have been more magnanimous in his praise of Jones, they were both under the same pressures but on the day, the best man won, he should have made that clear.

There’s always been more than one way to skin a cat, a lot of snooker fans might not like it but these guys are here to do a job because it’s their living. Congrats to Jak, it’s clear he’s not the most naturally gifted player on tour but he sure does fight !! I have no problem with this interview btw, everything he said was true and there’s nothing in the rule book that says you have to congratulate your victor !! Too many snowflakes once again getting upset over nothing. One final thing “Jak try and give the occasional smile” 😁😁

There’s a lot of moaning about the tight pockets this year, and the lack of century breaks. For me this makes for much more drama, and interesting tactical frames. There’s nothing more tedious, in my opinion, than watching Ronnie or Judd knock in masses of centuries in generous pockets - we’ve all seen so many big breaks, and even 147s (the very best you can do!), that there’s not much new that can happen anymore on the scoring front. Next year they’ll probably make the pockets like buckets, and there will be a record number of centuries, and it’ll be a total bore-fest!

Would you watch the sport if it were to stay like that for longer? Because I understand if it is change of pace, one off thing but let's be honest in the long run snooker will be way worse if it stayed like this. More and more people would be put off by the standard of the game. I mean, they don't exactly play to decide who is the best, they try to figure who is less bad and that's bad for the game. Jak Jones especially is winning matches by making his opponents way worse than they normally are and he tries to be less bad than them. I think this standard of snooker would be quite tiresome if it were to stay.
@nickwood1330
@nickwood1330 Ай бұрын
I don’t agree .. this brings the conditions to a level of difficulty that they had traditionally, and brings in all the aspects of snooker that make it dramatic and interesting that have been neglected in recent years because of over-easy tables - that is, the tactical side, playing for snookers etc. The game should be a tense challenge, and it has simply become too easy to pot balls in recent times.

The tables drew out a certain quality of player. No disrespect intended but Jak Jones stating he isn't playing well and saying he hasn't been making high breaks shows something is up. I noticed Ronnie brushing the table a lot before and after shots, thinking, that was just him being him. Then I noticed more and more players doing it. Could there be an issue with the nap of the table. Sure the pockets were tight but maybe the nap tallying with the nap made it difficult with players finding a rhythm and flow of the tables. Those players who focus from shot to shot, those ones who have patients, those who have great match play, able to play consistent over a long match, seemed to benefit.

To be fair, Bingham only beat Ronnie because he too wasn't on his game, it's swings and roundabouts, well done to Jak, i don't understand all the negativity being thrown his way, you can only beat what's put in front of you.

@PaulAinsworth-nv4my Ай бұрын
Hes not a bitter loser, hes annoyed at his own standard of play. It was embarrassing by his own admission he wasnt potting balls as well as when he played Ronnie, end of the day, he isnt bitter, because jak won, hes bitter because at this level you cant afford basic errors that he made. Hendry called Robertsons breakbuilding "Amateurish" this was very poor considering Binghams a former champion.

@@PaulAinsworth-nv4myHave to disagree since Bingham has previous form for being a sore loser. He played out of his skin against Selby three years ago and still lost. Instead of congratulating his opponent for his deserved win, he bitched about gamesmanship and slow play. Seems to me Bingham is only gracious when he comes out in top.

I'm tuned out already, so gutted that Ronnie didn't make that 888. Jak Jones is so boring and so slow that it's like watching Cliff and Terry all over again. I was hoping Bingham would go on to win it after beating Ronnie, but he choked. Wilson must be favourite, but something tells me that we have a new Selby on board a new grinder in Jak Jones.
