Id prob go with the Hyper9 today, it makes nearly the same torque, but $3k less, more efficient and much less weight. you can run them air cooled as long as you dont push them too hard

Love the info and appreciate the idea.....buuuut. Started looking into converting as an option for a commuter car and thought that DIY would be a way to save some money. Here's where the but comes in, 18K for the kit!!!? Then add on a vehicle to put it in!!! For something decent that's not a rust bucket you're looking at another 8-10K Then all the labor to make it happen. Affordable should not be a work use in this context, sorry.

I want to convert my 2001-02 Volkswagen New Beetle GLS from her 2.0 L, 115 hp/122 lb. ft. of torque gas engine to electric, she has a 4-speed automatic transmission, and is not modded, she's pretty much stock. If I use this same setup on her you do in that sweet 280Z that you now use I can gain a whopping 50 horses and 67 lb. ft. of torque in my New Beetle!!! With those stats who needs a turbo??? Everybody envisioned the New Beetle to run on electric when she first came out in 1998. Remember the commercials from then, the "Reverse Engineered From UFOs" ad with her in silver inspires all of us to convert ours, the gas filler hole can be a plug-in port instead!!!

I am looking into doing an electric conversion, and from what ive seen it looks like Emrax basically makes the best motors. they are way lighter and more powerful than a lot of the other massive motors ive seen. I am looking at a emrax 268 and cascadia CM200, with a chevy volt battery pack. should be able to do 200KW peak with the controller and motor only being 65 pounds (of course the battery pack will be like 400lbs tho). I was also looking at a nissan leaf 160KW motor stack with a controller, charger, and motor. they are like ~2k and so i could probably get the battery, motor, and controller for ~5k, but it would be closer to 800lbs for everything instead of 465lbs. what do you think? do you have any recomendations for a cheaper controller thats either 400v ~400a or ~200v ~750a? what do you think about using a scrapped leaf motor stack?

Ps. Also there is also 160kw stack which contains charger,dcdc,inverter in one lump. I know as your a business it gets very difficult selling used parts in a conversation as you essentially have to warranty yourself! Although I love the hpevs motor range, there is the fear that using them you might get left behind the competition as if you go down the 400v route you can add fast charging which makes it an easier sell.

Hello there, I'm facing an issue with an AC34x2 kit. I already have the motor and both controllers installed in my Subaru. When the car is in second gear and completely stopped, as I start to turn the motor, it generates a high-frequency noise and it seems to struggle to move the Subaru. When I connect my PC to diagnose the issue, I get an error code 8 Encoder. I conducted a second test (A-B-A) by using a different controller. I took the Curtis controller from my Dodge Neon EV AC50. Interestingly, with this controller, the AC34x2 motor works smoothly without the high-frequency noise, and it moves the Subaru with strength. For a third test, I swapped the main Subaru controller onto the AC50 motor in the Dodge Neon. In this case, the AC50 motor generated the high-frequency noise and lacked power. Could you please provide some advice on how to resolve this issue? Thank you very much.

Out of curiosity how do the new calb cells perform under load (voltage sag) compared to the old CA cells?

If I can get a Bug or a classic Mini for a good price in the near future I'll definitely save up to convert it to electric, blasphemy for some but I like the idea of simplifying what is simple as is.

Distinction with no difference: The handsome square bumpers on that 280Z are 1977 to 1978, as opposed to the ugly, large, and rounder 1975 to 1976 bumpers.

Too expensive. Battery and charger price makes sense, but the motor and motor controller does not make sense to me. I wish I could see an expense statement from the manufacturer.
