Two of the world's biggest selling electric cars go head-to-head. Dr Euan McTurk and Ric Boullemier put both the Kia EV6 and 'apocalyse proof' Hyundai Ioniq 5 through their paces. Which will come out on top or are the vehicles simply a case of same car, different dressing?
Euan and Ric discuss the futuristic vehicle design of the Ioniq 5 vs the more modern EV6, explore the exhaustive list of on-board that comes with both vehicles and make use of the vehicles V2L capacity with a picnic at the UK's largest windfarm.
The film also includes Euan's FASTER facts with everything you need to know about both vehicles.

Since they're basically the same car, two things swayed my choice to the EV6. First, I needed the charge connection to be in the back, second, we just prefer the cosmetics of the EV6 both from the inside and outside.

The charge connection on the Ioniq is also in the back though? Or am I misunderstanding?

@@dietibol I stand corrected - you are correct. It's on the left in back as opposed to the EV6 which is on the right.

I have the ioniq5, initially wanted to buy the ev6, but it was out of stock and 6 months wait. I went for the ioniq5 instead... and it's the best car I have ever had. After an Audi Q7 3.0 liter diesel, I believe this means a lot ! I will never go back to ICE and my next one will most probably be a Hyundai ioniq11 or a Kia ev22 LOL

Love my AWD Kia EV6 GT-Line, I was comfortably hitting 450-475km (280-295mi) in the summer on my daily commute on mostly highways at 120km/hr (75mi/hr), currently averaging around 350km (220mi) in winter at -10 to -15°C in Canada. I don't DC fast charge often, but have seen it hit 239kW for extended periods at multiple 350kW CCS chargers. It seems like you're underrating the specs? Not only aesthetic differences between the two... While the Ioniq 5 has a little more trunk (boot) space owing to the taller back, the EV6 has a slightly better drag coefficient of 0.28 vs 0.29 for the HI5; giving it a few more miles of range and a cleaner back window thanks to the rear lightbar/spoiler. The EV6 is also about 2-300lbs lighter and has a sportier suspension.
