Here a video of my recent trip AMS-BKK-AMS.
The video contains:
-Schiphol Airport
-Boarding
-In-flight cabin shots
-Landing in Bangkok
-Bangkok Airport
-Boarding in Bangkok
-Takeoff in Bangkok
-In-flight shots
-Landing in Amsterdam
No Amsterdam takeoff because it was already too dark to video. Seat Ams-Bkk 63A / Bkk-Ams 63K. Overall an excellent experience.
On both flights the plane was only partly occupied (on the BKK-AMS leg almost painfully empty...) so solo travelers like me had a whole row to themselves.
Date of flights: outbound May 25 2013 / inbound June 11.

really really enjoyed this trip - especially the views out the window - amsterdam to bangkok and back in 14 minutes -cool and in you notes list you should include food because you had a good shot of the food outward and return - have to say it didnt look that appetising - thanks for the video - didnt notice the return leg was almost empty

I think that you are spot on about Emirates. It's a serious competitor for KLM, Eva and China airlines, also because many people would like to experience the A380.

My travel dates were ams-bkk 25 April and the return at 11 June. Last time that I saw it empty like that was when I came back from bkk at 24 december 2010.

It really must have been your unlucky day when you flew with them...;) Temperature was just fine; I could suffice with a t-shirt. The food, which was of poorer quality than China, has improved significantly. Oh, the cake with vanilla sauce was delicious:) Maybe they have switched caterer.

I fly twice a year from Amsterdam to Bangkok with EVA AIR and I have never seen so many empty seats.

Nothing to do with EVA, but don't you think BKK has gone downhill? They've replaced all the comfortable padded seating with an all metal type which is horrible to have to sit on when you have to wait a few hours for a flight. You can't lie down on it either because of the metal armrests in between. There are about 20 padded seats left up near the monk's room still, but it wouldn't surprise me if they disappear soon too.

Haha hero, i dont know how you can fall asleep right after boarding, impossible for me, hey uhm when did you do this travel, I mean which month, because i never saw any eco class so empty before, on your flight home to amsterdam!

I've yet to find an airport which beats Singapore Changi. The terminals are carpeted throughout, they have a free movie theatre, gardens on the roof which are accessible to pax and plenty of comfortable seating. But flying to BKK via Singapore is way too expensive primarily because of Changi security charges and other exhorbitant airport taxes.

Btw, I forgot to mention that EVA doesn't award you any mileage for cheap flights. They gave me 1,000 miles when I joined their Evergreen loyalty program, but didn't give me anything at all for the AMS-BKK-AMS flight I made with them.

I love Schiphol Airport. My favorite airport to grab a Heineken draft and do some casino gambling while waiting on my connecting flight.

Christopher Houghton Thanks for your comment. I would rate the food slightly above average for what you can expect in economy. About the noise level: Xanax is your best friend. (and the fact that I had a whole row for myself)

Rinish Bahadoer Zelf vind ik EVA de beste maatschappij om non-stop naar Thailand te vliegen. Personeel is uiterst vriendelijk en (ik ben 1.93) beenruimte in economy is ruim voldoende. 11 uur valt in de praktijk best mee; zeker wanneer je onderweg wat kan slapen.

SgtSeedy IMO it's the best airline to fly non-stop from Amsterdam to Thailand. Pilots are well trained, excellent safety record, friendly cabin crew and a 33" seat pitch in economy so that even I (1.93m) have ample legroom. AVOD could use an update though...

Yeah, the window was OK there. How was the temperature inside the aircraft though. I my flight both outbound and inbound, it was bloody freezing. Oh, and give me that square piece of cake...LOL.

I like the architecture but it's indeed boring and passenger-unfriendly. Seating areas, toilets, smoking rooms are very hard to find inside the tax free zone, unless you fly business and have access to a lounge. You really need to be a seasoned Bangkok traveler to know your way around. I always take the elevator at the beginning of the E gates to go to level 2 and sit down in an empty boarding waiting zone. (with padded seating)
