Eva zu Beck: What it's like to be a Tourist in Iraq | Baghdad and the Ancient City of Babylon

Iraq wouldn’t be most people’s first choice of destination. The country has been considered unstable for a long time now. The German foreign office warns people off visiting. Years of dictatorship, war and terrorism have left their mark. But this country between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers is also a cradle of civilization, where some of the earliest advanced cultures developed.
Travel vlogger ‪@evazubeck‬ explored ancient Babylon, once one of the most important cities of antiquity. Back in Bagdahd, she visited bazars and cafés, and immersed herself in the Iraqi capital’s nightlife. Watch her adventures!
Good to know: Since April 2021, travelers from 37 countries no longer have to apply for a visa in advance to enter Iraq. Instead, you can get one on entry. For a long time it wasn’t that simple. So Eva grabbed her chance at the end of 2021.

Some book sellers in Iraq don't hide the books outside when the shop is closed, believing that the reader doesn't steal and that the thief doesn't read , Gentle and honest thinking ♡♡

Such a shame the western countries like Germany, France, UK have been some of the greatest looters of cultural heritage of Irak. So heartbreaking to see the original Ishtar gate in Berlin museum, and the hammurabi stone in the Louvre. To know that literally the Ishtar gate was brought in pieces to smuggle it it out. Heartbreaking that Iraq people will hardly see those wonders.

بلاد الرافدين وليس وادي! العراق قديما والان كان أوسع من وادي الرافدين فلذالك التسمية الاغريقية المترجمة "وادي الرافدين" او mesopotamia هي خاطءة.

Enjoyed the video immensely, Eva! Why is it on DW Travel in You Tube? I learned more about Babylon and the Assyrians from Bible school and self study than from Public Education up to & including graduate school. They don't view the Assyrians as something worth learning about in the USA probably because we are so self absorbed in ourselves. The ruins of Babylon and the swamp tour in your video are kinda my speed and interest. Loved hearing about all ruins and civilizations in Turkey from my aunt when she was living and traveling the globe. ( had a few other relatives that traveled the globe too and one that worked in the global division of USX) I am surprised that you did not visit more ruins in Turkey as they have have 3 to 5 different ancient cultures that lived there throughout history. ( Cacceopia, its misspelled was one exception) O have grown interested in some of the Greek cities around the North and East shores of the Black Sea lately even if these sites have not been restored, excivated, or advertised as tourist sites. Be safe and looking forward to future videos.

I feel sad about Babylone It was such a decent elegant place I think wars atraks looters like Mongols and the western wirkd looted everything or destroyed So to keep Babylon alive when ever one builds a grand good hotel restaurant or building try to name it BABYLONE
