@@realitybites629 Holyfield was not the type of boxer who would strike fear in anyone, he wasn't known for KO's, so no fighter truly feared him. His main offense was his flurry of combinations. Evander is famous for his excellent conditioning however, and his ability to absorb punishment is second to none, plus a calm yet fearless mentality. Mike has an iron chin, ruddock hit him.with his best punch which was the smashing left uppercut/hook amd mike never went down. 80s boxer like razor ruddock and tony tucker are WAY underrated. @@realitybites629 I do not think Tyson had the heart to go 12 or 15 rds with foreman, Ali or Frazier so he would have to get them early...George had a big height and reach advantage over Tyson. Tyson was not willing to risk his life or brain to win, Ali and Frasier were esp vs each other. ...as a Celtic fan I heard Kevin McHale talk about will over skill when u are down 9 in 3q, I think same gos for boxing too. Foreman would stand their and slug for 12 rds , it seems like after prison Mike did not want to do that and did not really have to in his prime....they did not want to face each other but I have no doubt george would've for 50m. Ali fought way too long and it is a damn shame that he had brain damage even in 70s....Tyson has a little now but nothing like Ali. I know exactly the moment you're talking about. Holyfield wasn't hit clean, or I guarantee he would have gone down. What happened there is, George would often vary the force behind is punches, both to conserve energy and to lull opponents into being defensively complacent, hoping at some point they'll get lax and vary the tightness of their defense. Foreman saw a opening and went in with a full force punch, but either his timing was off, wasn't fast enough, or just misjudged the opportunity and Holyfield parried it with a "chicken wing" kind of block. But because Foreman put everything he had on that one it spun Holy clean around when it hit him just above the elbow. That's the kind of punch that if delivered bare knuckle might either break Foreman's hand or render Holyfield's arm useless.
@skepchica

Foreman and Shaver at heavyweight were it, no one else even comes close. Except maybe Ron Lyle, everybody said he had murderous power too. Tyson wasn't nearly that kind of natural power puncher, he busted his ass in the gym and developed the style he did to stop guys. He was all speed, leverage, timing, and combination punches. Absolute machine in his prime though Tyson, just a stud athlete and physical specimen. That counter right cross he'd time guys moving into and the vicious body shot and uppercut combos were something else too!

@@Hello_combat_sports_fans 🙄 Tyson was a great fighter, a freak athlete, and a damn strong guy who certainly hit harder than most. No one debates that at all. What he wasn't was a guy with natural monstrous all time great punching power, especially with one shot. The film of his in-ring career speaks for itself. It isn't a knock on him or his accomplishments at all to say he didn't punch like Foreman, Shavers, or Lyle, it's objective fact. Hell, Wilder punches harder too, he's nowhere near the fighter or technical boxer Tyson was but he hits harder than him all damn day! If you are seriously going to argue otherwise I don't have the time or interest to engage further, because frankly speaking you are being a delusional dick riding fanboy. Again, Tyson is a truly great talent and one of the most culturally and historically significant fighters in the history of boxing in general and the heavyweight division in particular, but to act like he was an all time great puncher in terms purely of punching power is patently ridiculous. His game at his best was always about using his athleticism and more importantly footwork to cut off the ring and create an opportunity to hurt and/or stun the opponent with a punch they didn't see coming and preferably were moving into to boot and from there overwhelming and stopping them with relentless pressure and hard, fast, punching combinations. Just because he was a crazy explosive athlete and a ruthless finisher doesn't mean he was a top tier big puncher per se as well.

Michael Moorer was a fool to even give Big Slow George a chance after getting so far ahead on points. Even at that age Big George's power was the best in the division. Holyfield was smart he stayed away from George and got the W. No need to stroke the ego.

I don't think Moorer intentionally gave him a chance. Even at George's age, he still retained a solid chin. Moorer gave it all he had and ran out of steam, but he didn't realize til too late that he wasn't really damaging Foreman. By the last few rounds, Moorer looked extremely tired. I think Foreman's punches did a lot more damage than meets the eye.

@@marcbrunengraber3507 in his prime he wasn’t the greatest, greatest is quite subjective to what each boxer has accomplished, if we’re talking about greatest accomplishments then Ali or Joe Louis takes it, maybe Ali since he does have the best resume if any hw boxer, fighting the best of the best and winning 90% of them, and maybe Louis because he literally had the longest reign as the champion. My question is what accomplishment did Mike do? If you’re gonna say greatest KO’s, then no that would be Deontay Wilder, Shavers, Sonny Liston, or George Foreman. I like Mike but he ain’t the greatest, he COULD of been the greatest but when we are talking about reality and not “coulda or woulda” then no he ain’t the greatest. Idk how people think he could knock any boxer out when prior to Don King failed to permanently KO Tucker, Tillis, Green, and Bonecrusher.

Nah Tyson's shortness is what gave him that explosiveness in both his strength and his speed. He would have to pack on a lot more muscle in a 6'4 frame to equal what he could do in his 5'10 frame and even then he might still not be as agile. Mike was like a shotgun slug, once he started going, there was no stopping him unless you were hard as nails and you'd still get fucked up in the process.

Tyson was not big boned. No such thing. His build is compact. Most of his power came from his hips. Thats why he seldom threw a straight right. In fact the right cross wasn't even in his famous # scheme. Where he assigned a # to a punch and Kevin Rooney would call out combinations.

And in a long-ago issue of GQ magazine, prior to Holyfield fighting Lewis, Holyfield (in the article) stated that Riddick Bowe was the hardest puncher he ever faced........And not long after Holyfield fought Foreman, he stated that Michael Dokes actually hit him harder than Foreman did (alluding to Dokes' speed enabling Dokes to hit Holyfield with faster, sharper punches)..........So, a lot of what he says is all over the place.

@Elthenar
@Elthenar 6 жыл бұрын
Tyson wasn't overrated. People just didn't understand his game. He didn't actually blow people away with raw power like Foreman did, although he did have plenty of power. No, with Tyson it was the whole package. At his best, he had incredible defense, perhaps only surpassed by Ali himself. Tyson would slip a punch, close the distance and unload a blistering fast combo with top shelf power and precision. So while there were a number of people, like Foreman or Shavers, who hit harder than Tyson none of them combined that power with premium footwork, defense, handspeed, accuracy and aggression. Really, the only thing Tyson lacked was size but his short stature often worked to his advantage. The reason Tyson went downhill so fast was twofold. His father figure, Cus D'Amato died and then Don King got in his head. King conviced him to fire Kevin Rooney, the guy who trained Tyson and kept his technical skills are their peak. Tyson started trying to fight like a Foreman or Shavers, thinking he could just overpower people. The second reason is that Tyson was a speed guy. As you age, speed is the first thing you lose. So, as Tyson lost his speed and elite skills over the course of a few years, he quickly became mortal.

Let's take into consideration that Foreman was 250-260 pounds monster vs 215-220 pounds Tyson. So yes, Foreman probably had the heaviest hand. Yet Tyson speed was out of this world in his prime. I think that proportionally Tyson punches was more powerful. Tyson with Foreman size would had been a Licensed Assassin. We should take into account that Holyfield had one of the best chin of all time.

It depend on how the punch landed. If its merely based on fight result, Bowe technically hardest hitter in Holyfield's career. He was stopped in the third fight and was knocked down in first fight. Foreman and Holyfield went 12 round against someone like Stewart while Tyson knocked that guy out in a mere few secs.

Ali has the speed out of this world. Tyson is not even fast compared to ali. And George is the strongest boxer. he knock out fraizer, shaver lyle, norton etc. Yet he was knock out by a cerebral boxer- Ali. If Ali and tyson had meet the punch of tyson will not work because Ali is a boxer not a slugger like tyson and boxer usually wins.

Who told you Foreman was 250 or 260??? You have internet so you can check facts before you say something stupid. Foreman in his prime was 216-218lbs. Tyson usually 1 lbs heavier

dosdadio siapa Bad comparison. Ali met foreman in his very prime. 24 years of age Foreman was. Ali on the other hand wasn't the same Ali of 1966/1967. Tyson under a very guidance would given a match to Foreman for the simple reason that Foreman's defense was shocking. All the punches he swallowed early on against Frazier in 72 , Had it be Tyson he(Big George) would have been Knocked out within the first round.

dosdadio siapa And for your Information, Shavers and Foreman never fought. Foreman was scared of shavers biggg time.

Boxers who been in the ring know that there are different affects from the different types of punchers. Easilly demonstrated with bullet/ballistic dynamics. Big and Heavy hands from a plodding puncher like Foreman will blink the circuit board out. Speed and penetration has different affects. Both will take you out. But they feel fundementally different. Spence/Crawford is a good case study in a modern example.
