I’ve been watching Evan for years now, His daily advice was taken well, I am only 21 years old and April 14 I am about to close on my very first house and not to mention I’m also the owner of a 2006 RSX type s and a 2009 Evo x along with having a 5 year old son born when I was only 16. His daily advice and videos got me through life, it was hard but just being inspired by how he handled his self back to when he was doing manual tutorial videos and came out on top makes me strive harder, Love this channel one of the best on KZfaq!!

My bone stock NA-T longblock (ARP head studs and thicker HG only mods) just finally had issues after making over 800 whp through a turbo 400 transmission for over 7 years 😃...GE block is just as stout as a GTE. It's the rods in a VVTI motor that's the weak link. Non VVTI is good to go 👍🏼

A lot of the issue finding these is getrag was in heat with Toyota during this time and never worked with them after. Sourcing v160 stuff is so hard. I work ina shop full of supras and can confirm it is the best feeling trans and they hold a lot of power. One car had more than 1200 and ran the v160 and even holds up with the new owner. T56 is next best, Cd009 is just so bulky in the car. Glad you picked this up these are huge money but 38 grand JEEEZ

V160s went up until the 1998 for the USDM MKIV supras. I scooped mine for 5k before the Covid tax.

maybe you should open the trans up and refresh it while the other trans still "works" so when it comes time to replace the old trans you wont be disappointed by a bad synchro or something.

The 997 will hold its value better and is honestly the better platform, the supra is cool but in todays market insanely overpriced. Especially since the main appeal is the 2j which you can get a way better 2j experience cheaper with an is300, sc300, or gs300. That's my opinion though

Im surprised your not a big fan of the Cd009 transmissions haha they can pretty much take anything your gonna be putting down on the Stock Block. In the future once i boost my Hr and if my Jk Hr transmission ever gives out (hopefully not lol) ima go straight to a Cd009 Swap 😈🙏🏽

The GE will max out at 700ftlbs of torque you will chuck the rods out of it unless you keep The torque down you could Make 8-900 Hp but you can’t cross that torque number ... but turn that thing up I put together a ge that’s held 30 psi spikes and on 19psi made 630whp lol

If your swapping between a stock 5 speed to a 6 speed you have to clearance some room in the transmission tunnel because they made two different chassis for the 5 speed and 6 speed

I believe you just have to replace the stamped piece of sheet metal on the top of the tranny tunnel. Same with converting a chaser to manual. I know Tommy loves to say that, but I don't think it's really true

The trans tunnel is the same, this is a direct swap. I know because Ive done it many years ago. The tunnel only needs to be changed from auto to manual swaps.

its a straight swap, only if you're going auto to manual you have to do that. Most people just get a manual tunnel surround and weld it in

You don’t need a adapter plate to use a t56 on a 2jz. There is a direct bolt on bell housing which the trans bolts to and bolts to the 2jz which is the same was as stock.... how do you think they use the same trans in the gtr as the supra a different bell housing .... that’s like calling a factory bell housing a adapter plate lol
