I actually preferred just using the fully static setting… That being said, I haven’t gotten a ton of time using the reel so it could just be something I need to get used to but I felt that the full static setting allowed the farthest casts and the most predictable/consistent casting imho. I think what you and I are experiencing with these reels is part of the issue with KZfaq reviews and something that isn’t quite easy to address. You and I have experienced a sample size that is 1 of 1 and unfortunately it does not speak to the product as a whole. I do agree that I felt like the quality control was a bit off with my silver feather at first. The retrieve felt a bit rough for myself but since then it has freed up considerably and is quite comfortable and enjoyable to use. The side plate is very… unique… I will have a teardown video released this week of the reel and hopefully you can see what I mean. My impression between the two reels is that the silver feather casts farther and easier than the aurora air but I have not had much time to spend with the aurora air yet. The weather has not been cooperating so I will have to wait a bit before I can use the reel more. Out of curiosity, what problems are you experiencing with your side plate? The silver feather side plate had a crack in the part where the brake unit is fixed. As a result, it was not firmly fixed and wobbled. Then a new side plate arrived, but this time part of the brake dial was damaged, making it impossible to set the brake level. As you said, I think it's a good reel as long as it doesn't have these scratches, but there seems to be a problem with the accuracy of the inspection. I haven't tried the Aurora yet, but in my case, I mainly use the brakes firmly and aim accurately at short distances, so flight distance may not be much of an issue. I subscribed to your channel. After reading your description that is quite unfortunate to hear… I wonder if maybe you can combine the good parts from both sideplate to make a working solution? Hopefully my teardown video can assist you if you have not already attempted to do this. As far as the AA is concerned, I too mainly have used the reel with all of the brake shoes in the fixed or static position. Hey Antin! Haha seriously three “worlds lightest bfs reels” in maybe not even a month or two? Sheesh… As far as the dynamic brakes are concerned, I actually found that they cut down on my casting distance and really altered how the reel braked. I didn’t really like it and find myself only using the fully arrested selection. In my limited backyard testing the fully arrested selection gets me the farthest distances and is the easiest mode to use oddly. Curious what others will find with this. Hey Ben! Yea, imho the braking system is a bit unnecessary haha 😆. Maybe it helps when things are windy or for people who are less familiar with casting a baitcasting reel but in my very limited test casts I found the fully arrested setting to be the most comfortable/predictable and also got the farthest distances. I will use the reel more but I think I need to address some QC issues myself first and do a tear down. The slop is the handle is a bit disappointing to see and I would like to see if I can address that. Anywho, time will tell but at least the manufacturer was receptive to the feedback I gave them about the reel! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insights my friend! Cheers!

You are correct in that the silver feather has very little free spool but I am finding that it actually casts farther, easier and more consistently than this reel so far only testing 0.56g lure weight. I have yet to try the reel out with the full lure weight range I usually test from 1-7.38g. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and insight my friend! Cheers!

Hey melen! I’ve tested both reels in my backyard with a 0.56g lure and they’re very similar casting wise. I would say the silver feather casts maybe 1-2 ft farther but the distances are close. Additionally, I feel that the silver feather is easier to cast and generally better built. Hope that helps and cheers my friend!

Unfortunately, as that reel isn’t quite what’s currently at the forefront of the bfs CDM world it’s not quite a reel that I can really justify purchasing for one teardown video. Sorry my friend. I will say though that if you watch any of my other tear downs that these reels are all very similar internally and you’ll start to recognize parts and similarities if you watch enough of them or just perform them yourself. Hey drink! Yea so so far I’m finding QC issues with the reel but they don’t quite affect the casting performance so far. I was hoping for a bit better build quality but I’ve spoken with histar and told them all of issues I’ve been finding. They’ve said they will work on fixing the issues. One thing i've noticed with the internal breaks is the numbering system seems backwards. The higher numer seems to be less breaking and the lower numbers more. Maybe you can confirm that form me. I tested it a few times to make sure, but would be good to have someone else confirm it.

Hey doc! I think it may just have to do with the style of clicker and also the low weight of the reel. It’s possible that removing so much material reduces any sound dampening effect the carbon may have and results in a louder sound. I don’t think it will affect the performance but it may quiet down over time/use. Cheers my friend!

Hey oneby! Between the two reels in terms of casting performance I believe that the aurora air is the better reel. That said, I had massive quality control issues with my copy and so I am not sure if they’ve fixed all of those issues. The reel is also about double the price of the Soloking Acura pro. So… really I think the question is what will you prioritize; budget or casting performance. If can increase your budget just a tiny bit more then I would suggest looking at the purelure silver feather as it is extremely convenient to cast but also slightly more capable than the aurora air. Hey altai! Actually when it comes to light lures I found the aurora air to cast a bit farther than the Acura pro! I think the smaller spool diameter and weight have a lot of to do with the difference. Cheers my friend!

Инновации ,накопленные наживки , габариты длина удилище, малые реки - это причины по которым я выбираю histar . Но Аврора тоже хороша. Причём я смотрел не pro версию. Плюс - наверное самое важное - этетически , histar мне нравится больше

And of course I'm starting out and don't want to spend a lot of money,the rod is not a problem, there are thousands, but casting reels type bfs up to 100€ there is not much and that work well I think. I think that looking at the market, these two reels could be my option, but I can't make up my mind, can you help me or do you know someone who can?

@@davidsanchezgranados3531 hey David! Imho, if you want to go with something budget yet performs well go check out the Soloking Acura Pro. I think they’re currently on sale for around $35 usd. I’ve got a video on the reel and am more than happy to answer any questions about it. It’s basically the same reel as the dark wolf ultra but with a magtrax style braking system and a lighter spool as they updated the spool design to a short shaft. The reel also has 5 salt resistant bearings but they did lower the overall bearing count from 11+1 to 10+1 to give it more salt durability. Let me know if you have any more questions! Very low chances to backlash and yet gets great distances and can cast down to 0.56g with the right rod. I initially did not like the silver feather but over time it has really impressed me in its performance and convenience. I’ve got some videos on the reel on the channel. If you’re interested I think the reel is currently on sale for around $100 usd. Would love it if you used one of my affiliate links if you do decide to go that route. Hey Ricardo! Haha yes that whole fiasco was what started me making videos on bfs reels but I was focused on the DWU. It seems that these brakes are designed properly though so I don’t think there’s any need to worry there. I’m finding that I prefer not to use any of the brake shoes in the dynamic positions though… I noticed the farthest distances and the most convenience/predictability with all of the shoes being static. Not sure why but yea as I try more reels with dynamic brakes I find them to cause issues more than anything. The exception are daiwa style inductor brakes. Hey uncle! I was actually looking at the giu99. However, a couple things are stopping me from reviewing it. The first is that there really isn’t much difference from the aurora air. The spool weight is 0.2g lighter, it has a silver paint job and the knobs are different but that’s about it. The bearings are also salt water resistant in the aurora air. So… imho the aurora air, with its new lower price of around $35usd, is the right choice to make over the giu99 imho. If the price of the giu99 drops to a more reasonable price I may review it but the differences are so little compared to the AA so it’s hard to justify a review just for it.
