Alvin Lee is definitely one of Blues Greats but has often been overlooked and underrated. I am a blues guitarist and it surprises me how many other blues guitarists that I know have not heard of him. By the way, it's OK to let a tear flow. I am a 6ft 250lb man and I cannot get through listening to or playing this song without tears flowing. The guitar work just pierces through and rips at your heart.

So glad you did this, Alvin Lee ( and his band "Ten Years After" ) seem to be much overlooked. Alvin never seems to get a mention in Greatest Guitarists lists but for me he has to be at least included in the conversation. I have as much a prejudiced musical ear as everyone else and my goto guitar players all emerged from the glorious decade of the early sixties / early seventies from the UK, they are not necessarily the greatest but they were all pretty unique in their playing styles - Hank Marvin, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Peter Green, Paul Kossoff, Jimi Hendrix ( honorary Brit), David Gilmour, Alvin Lee, Albert Lee, Robert Fripp, Richard Thompon and I'm sure there are others that my aged brain has forgootton. Love your reactions you beautiful lady.

"Words can't describe the feelings..." words can't describe how deeply I agree. If aliens ever decide to contact us lowly humans, it'll be because of a song like The Bluest Blues, not through some stupid speech by a politician. The aliens will land their mothership on the White House lawn and say, "Bring us your best blues singers & musicians...the men & women who have designed & perfected the guitar...maybe the surviving Beatles..." You know what I mean. If they ever decide to help out humanity, it'll be to save the music we create, not for our cruel instincts & our inbred stupidity.

YEAH !! ALVIN LEE AND GEORGE HARRISON TOGETHER ON THIS GREAT HEART STRING PULLING BLUES SONG!! ALVIN HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN MY TOP 5 TASTY ROCK AND BLUES GUITAR PLAYERSHE SCORCHED AT WOODSTOCK AND THIS IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF A DEEP EMOTIONALLY LADEN BLUES SONG THAT EXEMPLIFIES THE FORM IN A TRUELY PURE HEART FORM. THIS IS MY FIRST VISIT TO YOUR SITE, AND I LOVED WATCHING YOUR FACIAL EXPRESSIONS AND HAND MOVEMENTS IN RESPONSE TO THE VARIOUS PASSAGES, YOU ARE SO IMMERSED EMOTIONALLY IN THE SONG THAT YOUR MOVEMENTS BECOME AN EXTENSION AND PHYSICAL REPRESENTATION OR INTERPETATION OF THE EMOTIONAL CONTENT OF THE SONG, I AM 71 NOW AND A GUITAR PLAYER AND I STILL CANNOT GET THAT GREAT TONE THAT ALVIN SEEMS TO BRING FROM THE CORE OF HIS BEING...SOMETIMES I WILL GET A FEW NOTES THAT APPROACH THIS SOUGHT AFTER TONAL PLATAU IF ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS, BUT DURING THOSE SECONDS I FEEL TRANSPORTED TO A HIGHER REALM OF CONSCIONESS ( sic) AND GET TO FEEL IF ONLY FOR A FEW MOMENTS THE CELESTIAL HARMONY THAT MUSIC CAN DELIVER. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

There is JOY in the blues and it was written all over your face. As a young man in the 70's I heard BB King's "Thrill Is Gone" and my life forever change. Yes, I love most every genre of music. But in most modern music of 20th century was born of the blues. Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think this song would become a reaction but you not only did it justice you gave it GRACE. There is a select group of bluesmen that stand out above any others, and Alvin Lee is a member of that group. A mesh of blues and soul that cannot be compared or duplicated.

I know when a song is good when I get goosebumps when the lyrics comes on. This was one of those songs. The guitar solo was amazing!!! Music isn't the same as it used to be and I'm not even old to say that. The lyrics wow

I had the chance to see him live. He was great in concert. He was actually the opening act. and he was better than the Headliner . anyone that was at that concert still talks about how he was better than the headliner.

The album this was released and included the Ten Years After as back up . It is called Pure Blues and it is one of his very best albums; showcases his talent other than known talent as the fastest guitar player; about every song is exceptional. "Bluest Blues" is my favorite and you might really like " Outside My Window". Many versions of "I am going home" out there from his Woodstock cut, but his last album called the "Last Show" has a very nice cut as well. RIP Alvin.

The explosion "I'm going home" performance produced at Woodstock was actually probably one of the worst things to happen to them. After that, it's all anybody wanted to hear from them and it was just the beginning of the music that would come from Alvin & Co.

I always loved the way he uses the tremolo gently in his guitar playing. and his slide is also soft but clear.. thanks for the reaction. i do think you would love the master of the guitar. "''steve vai" tender surrender live

Somehow I missed this reaction when it first came out. Well done. I first heard this song about a year ago or so, unbelievable.
