Is that a real thing for a car to shut off to save gas when it stops? That doesn't save gas. Turning a car on and off all the time wastes gas.

Maybe he has a hybrid. I have one. The drive engine is electric, the gas engine recharges the battery for the drive engine. And when the battery is full, the gas engine shuts off - and restarts on its own when it needs to. I'm used to it.

Yes, "vehicle start-stop system" is a real (annoying) thing. All new gas-powered cars will likely have this "feature" going forward.

I'm so far away from being able to afford these newer vehicles & I don't know anyone who has one either. I have to hear details about them on the internet. My tax bracket is so out of touch I feel like I'm in a 3rd world country sometimes. I dont even have a Netflix account because there is still free entertainment out there so why jump on the modern bandwagon for a fee? When these cars are cheap enough there will be better cars that I won't be able to afford. Always just out of reach.
