While attempting to climb Mt. Everest from Tibet, my team was hit by heavy brutal winds as the jet stream hit the summit. Our Camp II was located at roughly 7,840 meters or 25,500 feet. I was alone in a tent which was quickly shredded by fierce winds. Ultimately we were forced down to the North Col with our entire camp destroyed and gear lost. Days later some of us were able to return and launch a successful summit attempt.

I think someone must have brought three little pigs with them, and that was just the wolf outside. Good thing your tent wasn't made of sticks!!

That's because it is lol. After all, hurricane categories are determined by wind speed. And the winds on everest regularly exceed 150mph (cat 5 hurricane winds)

Masya Allah Very high speed of wind to influence all activity of hiking or climbing. Very danger anyway.

Mt Everest is high enough that the jet stream can hit it. Climbers plan their trip when the jet stream is least likely to be passing through.

@@pfc9769 Exactly. That is why most of the summit attempts come between early to late May because that is when the jet stream is off the summit.

Not true, jet stream wind speed can and does vary greatly. Do some research
@matjazcesek8748

Jet streams travel in the tropopause. Jet streams are some of the strongest winds in the atmosphere. Their speeds usually range from 129 to 225 kilometers per hour (80 to 140 miles per hour), but they can reach more than 443 kilometers per hour (275 miles per hour). You re funty noob 😊
