I was so hoping for the bagpipes to join in, but in essence maybe that would have been too much. I served in the forces many years ago and been on many parades and there's nothing makes a vet so proud when you are in step with the great musicians in the military.

Watching this it makes me proud knowing my dad was a Royal Marine who at the end of his service served in the band when they were based in Deal Kent.

Amazing, I love my U.S. Marine Corps band, but they would never perform this type of music. I do remember hearing some concerts of the U.S. Air Force Europe band performing Glen Miller and another time they were performing popular hits of the late 50's and early 60's and did a spectacular job of it. Semper Fidelis to all of my Brother and Sister Marines across the pond...

Certain songs transcend the limitations of words. They exist beyond expression, something we can only listen to, feel, and be profoundly grateful for - true masterpieces.

For me who was a child growing up in the 50's in war ravaged Kent where everywhere were wreckage and ruins, fortifications and veterans, in the shadow of horrors and gallantry I hardly understood, in the shadow of The Holocaust and in a world were no one was certain Hitler was dead, we only had the Russian report so many feared that like Napoleon, Hitler might return, for me the Spitfire and the Hurricane that stood outside the chapel at RAF Biggin Hill (as they still do today) are more than the Statue of Liberty, they are the truest, tried and tested symbols of our liberties and the price of our freedoms.

Absolutely breathtaking. I had to wipe tears from my eyes the first time I listened to this. I could replay this multiple times every day and have since I first heard this last night.
