Hi All,
Today, I want to go over some of the most frequently asked questions in my comments and Discord on Origins - the new EQ2 TLE server. I try to answer these to the best of my ability.

2:36 the Kingdom of Sky guide should be fairly accurate for 2006-era class and race info, at least compared to the vanilla one

Marketplace is the thing that may damage the Origins experience in my opinion

I'm a big Marketplace user and it has to be noted that without it there would be a lot less EQ2 development being done. That said I completely agree that the Marketplace would hurt this server unless it's limited to cosmetics only and not even seemingly innocuous things like bags be unavailable for DBC. This all hinges on the duping of platinum and other items being coded out by whatever means necessary, though.

Looking forward to Origins but I do expect Exp and Vitality pots to return to the marketplace. Those things sold like candy during previous TLE launches. I would love a TLP without those or Krono but I don't believe the company will turn down that revenue.

They just need to release them at lower rates than currently available. 50/100% exp potions are just too high.

The people that are aware of exploits/duping will 100% be doing it unless it's removed. They have done it on every TLE.

One of my biggest concerns is expansions being released way too fast. I may be in the minority but with this type of step back into the past I'd like to see full expansions not more than once per year.

I would like about 6-8 months per xpac. DoF being the exception, it was only 5 months originally for a reason. But this greatly depends on how much pay to win they put in. With barding slots and XP pots it dramatically cuts down the longevity of each xpac.

@z3nji I just don't want this to be yet another rush to the top server that I invest myself in and then it gets shut down and merged like Kaladim.

@@randelclawson7695 every TLE server will get merged into live at some point. If you are wanting a "permanent" server that lasts forever. This will not be for you.

6-8 months between xpacs that's insane. Varsoon is 3 months and that's really long enough the current TLE's are so easy you can complete everything so fast

@@mezz8867 Origins isn't like any other TLE. It's basically classic EQ2 from 20 years ago. Leveling / Questing / Harvesting / Crafting will be so much slower. On Varsoon you can level to 50 in a day and have all worth while quest done in a couple days. That will not be the case on Origins.

Thanks for the vid! I'm on old EQ2 vet (played from launch to 2010ish), so the Origins news piqued my interest. My biggest concern is actually population. That era of EQ2 was group oriented, even for simple overworld content. Leveling will be nigh impossible without multi-boxing or being part of a progression guild. I really want this to be successful, but how many people really care about "old school" EQ2 in 2024?

If you join at launch, it will have plenty of people around. It will be super active! It may honestly be the most popular TLE EQ2 will have.

Sad there's no class quests and citizenship quests. I still remember what a big deal it was getting Qeynos citizenship and then going on to become a Paladin at lvl 20.

Have so many great memories in EQ2 from 2004 to 2006. A bit sad that they don't have the vanilla client code anymore. But I guess this will be fun anyway. Did they change the crafting for origins? Like you can't die from failing etc.?

Based on what we know so far, Origins is based on Live Update 24 at the earliest. What concerns me is that Live Update 25 removed a load of city quests, but there doesn't seem to be any surviving information about what was removed, so hopefully its actually using 24 and not 25.

As someone who is interested in EQ2 for the first time will this era be group/grinding like eq1 or is it more like just questing to max lvl?

A combination of both. If experience is as slow as it was back in 2006, and exp pots aren't excessive, you will want to do some grouping, questing, and soloing

I still have a few questions about this server, Why roll it back to 2006 and not the original 2004 launch? I'm assuming this is the oldest back up of the game that they might have? Also will we have the old access quests to go to enchanted lands as an example or will it be automatically unlocked for everyone on the server. What about Class quests, going from Mage to Sorcerer finally to Wizard at level 20.

No access quests for open world zones. There will be no commoner -> class -> subclass. 2006 apparently was one of the oldest builds they could find, too.

Do you think all races will be allowed? Like I like to play Sarnak mostly but those weren't added til 2007 I think

From what I've heard, no. The froglok will be, but sarnak, free blood, aerakyn, and vah shir will not.

I wonder if those warlock spells will require Nil crystals again...I remember farming those before raids

Will they then be changing all of this stuff back (the cities, mobs, etc) over time, or will they stay the "old way" through the entire TLE? Thank you!

Not 100% sure on this. I think a lot of things didn't change til WAY WAY later, so it may be a long time to those changes if so.
