Quick question Chris , how can barbers apply some of these methods if they have financial responsibilities. For instance I used to work full time in a shop but no longer could due to not being able to produce enough income to cover bills as a beginner barber.
@greg1746

That’s part of the game bro go all in ! Don’t give up! Keep pushing. I was falling behind on bills trying to build clientele but I stepped back reset myself got my mind right started being first one in last one out even if I only cut one new client ! Even if I had 0 customers. I started telling clients send me 2 clients next cut is on me. Then started saying every person you send me 5$ off your next service ! Pass out cards hustle hustle hustle you got it bro

Elijah, I am in the same situation right now. I legit left a corporate salon to go out on my own, but while I was working I handed out my info to all my people and now I don't have anymore income coming in from a consistent paycheck. Scary as hell, especially when I have 6 kids living with me. But 6 weeks before I knew I was leaving corporate I started really hustling with Shipt grocery shopping during the time I wasnt working, it's shitty pay but it helped me save up a month and a half of expenses for my chair rental. Now in your case, if you already left the shop, I would start doing hair part time and build your clientele back up, read financial books like the one Chris recommended The Wealthy Barber and get your mind right around money because that's key, another good book is Tax free wealth by Tom Wheelwright, and lastly constantly improving your technical skills (theres always a new trend to learn) and most importantly providing the best customer service possible, treat them as if you want to be treated when you go the shop. It takes time, but the money is there, just spend your free time doing those things and it will help tremendously.

Man, I swear on my babies, I am making between 90-95,000 charging 13 for regular cuts, 16 skin fades and 20 and up for designs. So I have made myself a necessity instead of a luxury, meaning I am recession proof, and I make damn good money while really giving back to my community just by charging what I charge. Call me what you want, but I can raise my price if I want, but at this price point any loss is a loss I can afford.
@Bossiocuts
@Bossiocuts Жыл бұрын
Lol brother I’ve been through a recession… being affordable does not mean recession proof… you convinced yourself only of your own truth not reality of many using a work harder and smarter strategy
@josephmccauley368
@josephmccauley368 Жыл бұрын
I was here through the recession as well and did pretty well charging more than I charge now. I respect you for everything you do but that reply was pretty condescending. Yes, recession proof is a pretty ambitious statement, but much more than being affordable goes into that. Here's the thing, I look up to you, as do a great many others. That being said, if someone says something and their logic is flawed or their expectations are lofty, don't just tell them they're wrong. Maybe present an alternative or some type of solution. You always say you want to help barbers and aspiring barbers, so don't alienate them. I will continue to seek value in your content no matter what, but you made me feel stupid as hell. I know that's 100 percent my problem, not yours.
@Pablotercero90

Thank you for not taking advantage of your clients charging them 50-100 $ for a haircut, no matter how good the barber is 50 to 100 per cut is just way too much, im glad i had the patience to learn how to cut my own hair
@josephmccauley368
@josephmccauley368 Жыл бұрын
I don't judge anyone for charging what they charge. I just keep my price low because in my experience, those who can pay more for my service, will for the most part. I have clients who pay 80 and come every other week. I also have single moms who are barely scraping by, but manage to bring their sons weekly. You never what someone else is going thru, and the way I see it, I am beyond blessed to be able to do something I love doing and make a great living at it. God provides me with clients from every side of the financial spectrum and I wouldn't trade it for the world. The 100 dollar barbers have found their lane and I respect that. I just don't belong in that lane with them.

Yeah thats true but if a barber is charging more then 50 dollars for a haircut it better be different and lasting longer then the guy charging 20-35 dollars for cuts next town over.. thats just confusing to me but it seems like getting a haircut is the same as buying clothes like for example h&m plain shirt 10 dollars/ Burberry plain shirt 200+ dollars... "people buy both" so at the end of it, it just depends how the person wants to spend there money on themselves smh
