Books mentioned for my fellow ADHD Besties! 1. Mater 2-10 by: Hwang Sok-You. 2. Walking through clear water in a pool painted black by: Cookie Mueller 3. Better by far by: hazel hayes 4. Pyre by PERUMAN MARUGAN 5. APPLE AND KNIFE BY: Intan P (just type the name of the book you’ll find it) 6. When haru was here by Dustin Thao He mentions a few others that intrigue him, but he since he didn’t pull them out, I didn’t include them.

Hi Jack! I love your channel! Another two books you should read is All the Light We Cannot See and the Book Thief, they both are WWII novels but are powerfully told and gracefully written.

i’m not american, but i’ve been kinda observing aapi month in my reading this may, with a few random books thrown in between. it dragged me right out of a 3 month reading slump lmao and also allowed me to finish several books i started LAST YEAR 😭 it’s been great, as a pacific islander in aotearoa nz, reading a bunch of books from homegrown authors
@mishripettinger62426 күн бұрын
omg hi from nz! do you have any recommendations that came from aapi month?
@jaycebradley84045 күн бұрын
hi! i’ll just give you my may read-list and some other recs lol 🫶🏼 - zachary ying and the dragon emperor, xiran jay zhao (middle grade fantasy, author is canadian not american) - ayesha at last, uzma jalaluddin (contemporary romance, author also canadian) - the dawnhounds, sascha stronach (fantasy) - straight up, ruby tui (memoir) - a venom dark and sweet, judy i. lin (ya fantasy, second in a duology) - stardust thief, chelsea abdullah (fantasy, first in an incomplete series) - overkill | the ringmaster, vanda symon (first two in a mystery crime series set in nz) - the bone tree, airana ngarewa (contemporary fiction set in nz: look up content/trigger warnings) - lei and the fire goddess, malia maunakea (middle grade fantasy, hawaiian mythology) - the empress of salt and fortune, nghi vo (historical fantasy novella, first in a series) if you’re looking for specifically PI books, there’s a #pasifikareadathonchallenge tag on ig with lots of book recs, authors, and creators. on tiktok i specifically follow @shanreadsbooks and @isabellas.library1 who’re both PI creators 🤗 my tbr is also long af lol so if you’re after a specific genre jlmk!

My may/June current read is Unbranded by Herb Wharton. It’s about 3 men (one white, one murri and the main character related to both), that works as drovers in the Australian outback. It paints a vivid picture of the society and lifestyle, as well as touching on struggles of indigenous people. It’s really good so far!! I’m only a quarter through but I’d recommend it!

Jack, I am begging you to read The Idiot by Elif Bateman. I know that you have it, we have all seen your TBR video in October of 2022, I believe… The book is right there, on the top of the stack, waiting patiently for you. But really, if I’m being serious I think you’ll love it
@luce84169 күн бұрын
I have also been reading at a slower rate lately. I am still reading and enjoying what I read, but it's taking me way longer than it normally would. But I'm thinking it might just be because I have a lot going on in my life rn, so hopefully my reading pace will be back to normal once life calms down a bit! I just finished The Ogress and the Orphans, Lolita, and Dragonfruit. Currently, I am reading Battle Royale (enjoying it so far! but 600+ pages is a lot). Next are The Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi and Gwen & Art Are Not In Love. (I honestly don't think I'll finish my May TBR so it will probably bleed into June)

My May-June list: Convenience Store Woman, Silk & Steel anthology, The Apothecary, Foxcraft: The Elders, Spy x Family manga Vol 7, Honey and Clover manga Vols. 6 and 7, The Takedown, Persepolis 2, The Water Outlaws, and Comics Will Break Your Heart, and Can't Spell Treason Without Tea - plus others TBD. Some of these are being read before an unhaul/giving away to specific friends or their children. I am a new steward of a Little Free Library too, so I have to stock it. Good luck with your TBR - hope your reading mojo comes back.

There is this First Knowledges series, in which it talks about the knowledge of the Aboriginal people in reference to various topics. So far I have read Plants: Past, Present, and Future and Astronomy: Sky Country. I am very much interested in reading Country: Future Fire, Future Farming and I hope to get to it this month.

Jack, Please read "The Cellist of Sarajevo" by Steven Galloway. I feel as if this book is straight up your alley and that you would love it!. Rated 4.01 on goodreads. Set in 1990's, based on true events of the breakup in Yugoslavia and a real cellist. Story follows 3 people struggling to survive during the war. Depicts the mot raw emotions of the fears, horrors, helplessness, desensitization and despair of the war through the 3 different people and their own story.
