Just Another Username Yeah, it's confirmed that the reason why young Link often squirms around and makes noises in his sleep is because he has nightmares, in the beginning it was only about Ganondorf, which was bad enough, and then he has to witness and see a lot of stuff no child his age should have to see. He should be running around chasing chickens and doing things normal children should. But instead, he's forced to take part of a enormous quest because he was a part of being the key who would save Hyrule, since everyone else, including the highly skilled soldiers just stood around and worried, and it's already bad enough that he's kind of a pariah and the only people closest to him who supported him was a tree, his fairy Navi, and his childhood friend Saria, no one was really kind to him and he's also forced to age seven years into a more mature body while still being mentality a nine/ten year old boy. And the stuff he has to endure is even worse when he's in his older body as he sees more horrible abominations, and even having to go into a bad future where Ganondorf took over the world and it's citizens were replaced by those Redead things. And he loses his best friend, Navi, at the end. I felt like he suffered the most out of all the Links. The other Links went through a lot of tragedies too, but not quite as bad as what OOT Link went through. And DON'T even get me started on Majora's Mask.

@@briannawilson8845 Couldn't have put it better myself! Come to think of it, a lot of these characters aren't that much older (some even younger than Young Link). Even Mario, though he's an adult now, had to go through some crap as an infant (most of the Yoshi series and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, for instance)! Doesn't seem to have fazed him too much, but people do react to certain experiences differently (I'm surprised Ness can still smile after witnessing the horror that is Giygas).

Yeah, I love how they showed how their personality differs. Also in their starting intro as well when they first appear on the stage, Mario says "Let's a go!" With determination and eagerness, but when Luigi says it he sounds almost relucant, as if he doesn't really care about fighting. It's funny you noticed that in their sleeping animations as well.
