I love everything about the meeting at NASA Scene. But I especially love how he steals the Director's pen and the exasperated expression on Jeff Daniel's face.

For me, it was the pen click off the forehead lol

I’m Teddy, the director of NASA. Cool.

I never noticed the laptop just pops up saying "calculations correct" haha

The fall wasn't planned nor intentional. But they went with it, and Donald Glover improv'd that line.

After Watney, this guy was, in my opinion the 2nd most clutch character even with only 4 minutes of screen time

What a *royally* wonderful movie. Anybody ever tagged themselves like this Rich Purnell guy? Ya makin' some memories, if your bosses are treating your right.

All the characters in the movie were great, but Danny Glover role and performance was like a hidden gem, that you cannot forget.

Who else can picture Danny Pudi in this role??

You know this was 100% just Donald playing Danny playing Abed

How I pictured the guy in the books. "Math is real, people are weird and abstract."

Looks like he took his heart to heart with Spider-Man seriously and made something of himself…ruined ice cream can create perspective

Where did these clips come from? I love this movie and I've never seen the scene where he asks for the computer time, nor where the "supercomputer" says that the calculations are correct. If there's a cut out there somewhere I need to see... where is it?
@bobfullick79412 ай бұрын
I borrowed The Martian from the library about a month ago and they were in there. Wasn’t an extended cut or abything
@SatrioBudiDharmawanАй бұрын
you know, some of the streaming platforms have more scene cuts than the others. Amazon Prime is one of the worst.

@@SatrioBudiDharmawan True, but I saw it in the theater twice and on non-streaming media at home.

Bro Came, Bro dropped the most genius solution, Bro Left I mean the factors they must've included in calculating all the scenarios are beyond my comprehension, I mean it's fiction but even considering this in real scenario, it's like calculating petabyte size of data in few days, the no servers required for this are like PHEW 🤯

i like to pretend they reveal at the end of the movie that his full name is "miles morales", the "rich" was just an alias

if you read the book he plays a MUCH bigger role, things often get lost when books turn into movies

A person with absolutely no dog in the fight typically finds the best course of action. Everyone else involved had something to lose if this went wrong. They were somewhat blinded by their fear of failing. He was not afraid of failing because it wasn’t his responsibility and the best solution derived from this
@Ryan07_205 ай бұрын
That usually happens to movies with large ensembles

You needed someone showing the math side as well as the psychological, PR, logistics, and policy decisions. Trips in space are really like planning a road trip from Miami to Seattle, but you fuel up once at the beginning, don't need to stop for sleep, coffee, food, water, bathroom breaks, there's no traffic, and you can have a passenger in the back seat climb under the car to do any repairs while you drive on cruise control the entire way. Rich is the guy used to show the calculations are pretty simple. "The math checks out" but NASA still needed the Chinese supply capsule, have the Hermes crew decide to stay in space an extra 2 years, attempt a dangerous fly-by, and scrub their next Mars mission.
