Runcorn the Wizard has a quest for you, young one. (I did a whole map for this, but it only appears for 1 second because I cut the line: "The Emperor means to desaturate the lands from the White Gate to Lovelylittlecupofteatown".)

It also makes sense to any GOT fans, as in the book series many of their favourite characters are still alive in book 5, and some hope that they may have a different fate should books 6 & 7 ever be published. While in the TV series the same characters are now either dead, merged with another character or didn't exist in the first place. So yes, it's hard to keep track of who is still alive.

Ser Bobbins of Incongruous is one of the most misunderstood characters in fiction. Although he seems to be totally out of keeping with both the setting and tone of the series, in the WWII symbolism found throughout, he actually represents the Italian liberal Catholic partisans. This explains his treacherous death at the hands of Redfelt Summerville of Prolebridge and his Kommunnards, in the penultimate chapter of book six..

I remember reading The Chronicles of Prydain series as a kid after watching Disney’s version of The Black Cauldron, and I was legitimately surprised that the mentor character Gwydion never died throughout the whole series, not even dying and getting resurrected like Gandalf. That blew my 10 year-old mind cause I was already aware of a lot of these fantasy cliches. There’s also a pretty interesting subversion of expectations with the main villain, Arawn, that I won’t spoil.

Oh my gosh, these are my favorite books in the whole world, and I so rarely see them mentioned anywhere! Our whole family adores Prydain and Lloyd Alexander (and his other wonderful books as well). In fact, when I changed my name, I ended up choosing Lloyd in his honor. And my older daughter’s Great Pyrenees guardian dog for the goats on her farm is named Medwyn, of course. So thrilled to see someone else talk about the series! ❤️ Note: anyone reading this who hasn’t watched that dreadful Disney movie, *don’t.* But do look into the ancient Welsh legends of the Mabinogion, which were a major inspiration for Alexander for the series. And if you prefer audiobooks, the series is available in a wonderfully read version.

This tale is now part of my subconscious formative identity. I dislike anyone who doesn't share this group-identity. Thank Games Workshop for establishing the trope of orcs and goblins being fantasy London hooligans (like some Chelsea Headhunters, but with actual choppas and 'ard 'ats to protect da 'eads)

"The Special Little Magic Boy" were actually very progressive novels for their time, featuring various openly LGBTQ characters such as the Emperor (who is revealed to be Tampax's transgender sister). Unfortunately the books had to be translated multiple times due to the original author refusing to use quotation marks, page numbers, and punctuation.
