A totally private club is not any more out of touch than having a hereditary monarch as head of state.

It should be never. It's not on dunes land for most part (and one of the water holes has fake dunes according to the video).

A course where only millionaires can play more than once should never be on the roster.

Ah well there's Muirfield and Archerfield right next door. And then North Berwick up the road, Kilspindie and Gullane are also closeby. Plus, there are a few more courses in the area.

@@cd66061 i live right next to it in gullane and yes it's extremely exclusive you actually have to be invited to apply for membership and still arent even in yet, i believe annual membership is around £70,000, lee westwood was a member

Very exclusive, which is somewhat uncommon in Scotland, but lots of examples of that here in the States: Augusta, Pine Valley, Cypress Point, etc. In looking at a top 100 list (for the U.S.) in a major golf magazine, I counted fewer than 25 courses that were public access. s

@@johncorman8715 and if they are public access you need to stay at a resort or pay $250+ to play it.

@@noledge18720 The costs you noted are very affordable considering that to play Pebble Beach one would have to pay for 2 nights at either The Lodge at Pebble Beach or The Inn at Spanish Bay, with minimum room rates of $1,045/night and $920/night, respectively. Spending $2,000 for 2 nights of lodging qualifies one to pay the $595 green fee at Pebble (not including cart or caddy).
