i know what you mean but on the other hand, when musicians do the back to the roots thing it rarely ends up having the old sound cause i feel like what they usually mean is they look back on their journey and restart their creative process. it does come across gimmicky though especially if the new stuff sounds exactly the same as the previous record

I remember some guy I worked with that was big into country who knew I listened to metal playing a song in his car for me. I didn't like it when he expected I would. He asked if I'd heard it and I said no. He was like you know who this is? I had no clue. Anyway, it was Metallica (Load or Reload I don't remember) and I didn't even recognize James' voice for at least 20 seconds. Lol....I don't hate them for it though. Just hate the music.

Avantasia is not a band, but rather a project to begin with And in my version of albums it did not say things like "feat." in most songs, the participants are numerous, but are not(at least, from my perception) one-time-invited guest stars just for a couple of notes. Maydup Nem! Finally he is getting some recognition, I've listened to a lot of his own work he has put out and it's amazing. Very underrated, great groove, and in my opinion, one of the best Jazz musicians of our generation.
