Yep! I've kept a garden journal for several years now. Last year I bought a personal printer (2" x 3") and I put pictures of our progress and harvest in my journal. It's been a wonderful visual reminder of what we did each day or week.

@@LorellaPlanBeeOrchardandFarm I'm curious what makes it harder to grow in Missouri? I have good friends that just moved there and will be gardening this Spring (in Lebanon), so any tips I can share with them would be helpful. thanks

@@jeffmeyers3837 Hi Jeff! I live in Southern Missouri in the foothills of the Ozark mountains. Most of the soil around here is clay and rocky. We also have weird weather with surprise late frosts, and last year we had a severe drought. Our spring is short, then it gets HOT real fast. Some plants don’t like the heat and it makes it less pleasant to be out there. The bug pressure is intense. One year I counted and photographed 8 different types of beetles in my garden including squash bugs, Japanese beetles and blister beetles among others. Blister beetles secrete a substance which will sting and cause -you guessed it- blisters to form on your skin. Plus they all eat plants. The one thing that WILL grow here are weeds and tough tall weeds that will take over the garden. All of that being said, people can and do have success gardening here, it just takes getting used to and learning how to mitigate all of the challenges.

Hi Helen! Oh yes, you are in a much colder climate. Brrr. I love Baker Creek. And they are so backlogged right now that they aren’t accepting new orders. And they just opened a HUGE new seed packing facility, too. It’s crazy how many people are getting into gardening. But crazy in a good way.

Today I'm going to plan the layout for my garden. I buy plants at the nearby Mennonite community. I usually go with my daughter and it makes for such a beautiful way to spend the day. I direct sow my seeds. I can't wait! Where I'm at today the windchill is going to get as low as -40 degrees, yes 40 below 0 F. There is hope though, the days are getting longer and there are all these "getting ready to garden" videos.

I made something similar on the calendar that came on Windows 10. It kinda worked, but I got where I slacked off and never finished it. On the few items I did complete, I put a alert in the calendar to remind me when they were supposed to be getting close to being ripe. If I had followed through, I'm sure it would have worked well...lol

I use a digital calendar for everything else in my life. I manage my work, my family, my appointments, everything digitally. But I just. can't. do the garden that way. It's paper and whiteboard all the way for me, and I don't know why that is!

I see a lot of KZfaqrs writing out sowing lists into calendars and I’m not actually sure why when they have an existing list like the one from Clyde they can directly refer to that never changes. The most that’s needed is a note in the calendar to ‘start sowing’ surely?
@LorellaPlanBeeOrchardandFarm
@LorellaPlanBeeOrchardandFarm 4 ай бұрын
Well, I do it because I prefer to see it laid out chronologically rather than alphabetically which is how seed starting most planners are organized. I plant a greater variety of things than what Clyde lists, and the type on Clyde’s is small and hard for me to read. :) Having it in the calendar helps me see exactly and only what I need to do today.

When you wrote TP bell peppers for April, I didn't see the leaf lettuce and that thoroughly confused me but I went back and yep, you did put TP leaf lettuce the first 2 weeks in April. Not sure how or why it wasn't written on there when you wrote TP bell peppers in April or am I missing something??? Thoroughly confusing!

Sorry for the confusion! I’ll have to watch the video again to see what I did with the bell peppers and lettuce. It’s been a minute since I made it. I’ll come back and reply after I have time to watch it.
