On July 16th, 1945, the United States conducted the world's first test of a nuclear weapon. Less than a month later, two bombs were dropped on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, bringing about the end of the Second World War. No nuclear bombs have been used as weapons since the attacks on Japan, but thousands of tests have been conducted - primarily by the US and USSR throughout the Cold War.

Peter Dhan L.S. The effect from nuclear explosions would be a Global Cooling, actually. Could this mean "Global Warming" has been occurring much earlier than previously believed (assuming the nuclear tests have had a cooling effect), and that the US military has been combatting it via nuclear explosions? www.nasa.gov/centers/langley/news/factsheets/Aerosols.html. Could it be that "Chem trails" are a replacement technique for adding aerosols to the atmosphere, to keep the temperature from rising?

@@ademyers2741 Well, no. In the late 1940s the US passed legislation which effect tively dis-invited all other nations from atomic research in the US. Most other nations sid, "Oh, well...". Canada designed their own reactors that did not require enrichment, England and France started their own programs. Somehow the notion was floated that until a nation could show successful thermonuclear testing they were out. Britain, in fits and starts, finally managed that, testing in Australia and over Christmas Island (the Line Islnd one now known as Kirimati,, not the one in the Indian Ocean) and that lead to the 1963 US-UK Mutual Defense Agreement where the US and UK shared test results and designs. The UK was allowed their own tests at the Nevada Test Site that lead to 24 UK tests there, up until the CTBT closed it in 1993.

Something about it being really bright. Some part of his instrument panel might have reacted too. Plus some city nearby was out of power for like several days afterward) But I could be wrong too. A lot of the testing that was done in Nevada, was low yield weapons and/or effects tests, all of these where in the KT (Kiloton) range. Some of these tested the effects on structures (like houses), and infrastructure (bridges, towers, power poles, gas lines, etc...). They also tested the effectiveness of different types of shelters. There where also non-weapon tests, in Operation Plowshare, where the "Peaceful Atom" was looked into for things like fracking, making caves, and excavation of a large area. Studies also included fallout patterns. 1960's most have been underground tests. The US did their larger weapons tests, MT (Megaton) range, in the South Pacific. The larger tests where limited to perhaps only one or two a year due to the location, which is why the Nevada test site was chosen, due to it's remoteness and terrain.

@@7150285 Tsar Bomba was planned to be at 100 kton. The designer of the Tsar Bomba, Andrei Sakharov, was afraid of what would happen and changed his mind the day before the test and reduced the strength of the Tsar Bomba to 50 kton. One Soviet cameraman who witnessed the detonation described what he saw: “The clouds beneath the aircraft and in the distance were lit up by the powerful flash. The sea of light spread under the hatch and even clouds began to glow and became transparent. At that moment, our aircraft emerged from between two cloud layers and down below in the gap a huge bright orange ball was emerging. The ball was powerful and arrogant like Jupiter. Slowly and silently it crept upwards.... Having broken through the thick layer of clouds, it kept growing. It seemed to suck the whole Earth into it. The spectacle was fantastic, unreal, supernatural.”

Most of it dissipated quickly, a lot of it has short half lives, and most of these were underground, underwater, and a few in space. The proof is in the pudding: we still have an atmosphere, we still have a biosphere, we still have a hydrosphere. Didn’t South Africa test a nuke before they destroyed their arsenal? Also could you make a 2019 update because North Korea has tested more nukes since this video came out?

Rumours have it that South Africa and Israel conducted a joint nuclear bomb test in the southwesternmost part of the Indian Ocean. There is no declassified documentation though, so if they did it, nobody's supposed to know about it.
