@@ttfn1412 It's not mentioned too often, but her usage and butchering of the Scottish Gaelic language really bothered Scottish readers and those that recognized it. It's a minor language and has a hard enough time staying afoot in it's own country. The word is Rebecca KNEW what she did with the language, but didn't apologize for it at all. Several readers went to social media about the matter and got some attention, and she didn't care. She made her big bucks leeching off other fantasy/YA novels and shrugged her shoulders.

I love your videos and how pationately you talk about the books you love, it is truly inspiring 💗 My favourite and honestly most surprising books of the year was everything from the grisha verse✨ I discovered shadow and bones on a flea market and wasn't aware of how big the series was and I read all of them in january, they literally altered my brain chemistry. Expecially SOC and CK were SO good I'm still mad I didn't discover them a earlier in life I read them like three times this year bc they're so good😭 I also reread the hunger games series and tbosas and honestly I agree with everything you said, it is really a life changing expierience to read them now having more knowlege of the world. Suzanne truly is a genius Generally this year was really good for me bc I didn't read any book that I would rate below three stars which is awesome.🙌 I'm so excited for 2024 and I hope I get to read all of the books I bought this year (which is a lot lol) I'm wishing you and everyone who reads this a very happy new year and I'm excited for what's to come! 💗🎉✨

@@the_bob_147 Sure. The people of Israel, Zionists, are currently bombing the Gaza Strip (mainly hospitals, churches, and schools), and over 20,000 Palestinians have been killed by these bombs. However, before Zionists were bombing Palestinians, they’d also taken from them their land and homes in an apartheid that has been ongoing since 1948. Things have just escalated to a genocide as of October. Certain companies fund/support the IDF, the Israel Defense Forces, including Disney, McDonald’s, and the publishing company Hannah named in the video. So, in order to show solitary with the Palestinians in Gaza, people are boycotting certain businesses by not supporting them financially, and if their movie or book companies, by remaining silent about their projects, including new ones.

this was my year of dnf-ing books which is huge for me, typically i would force myself to suffer through so they would count toward my reading total but this year i decided i didnt want to do that anymore... that being said a big disappointment of this year was gideon the ninth, it seemed like the perfect mix of everything i love but i just couldnt get into it, the writing was pretty but hard to follow, and it was taking too long for me to care about the characters. my favorites of the year were hell bent, fourth wing/iron flame (i know u hate these but they're such a fun escape, similar to acotar for me), and this fantasy series published in the late 80s/early 90s called the last herald-mage (i still have to read the third book) which was a surprisingly beautiful story about love and grief. finally i won't finish it by midnight tonight but another book i'm really excited about is mistborn, i figured it was about time i got into brandon sanderson and i am absolutely loving it so far. i've lost count of how many years i've been following you and your reading persuits, but i always look forward to your recommendations and yearly wrap-ups! i'm excited to see where books the books we read take us next year

Are Belladonna and Foxglove more heavy on the fantasy or the romance? The synopsis sounds super interesting, but I usually don't like a lot of dark romance books or books that focus too much on how hot and sexy the characters are. And the marketing seems like it's one of those, so I've been hesitating.

Favorite: "Iron Widow" (Angry, raw, messy, morally grey MC and a literal love triangle), "Sorcery of Thorns" (the closest to my #1 author, Tamora Pierce's, writing I've found), "The Last Graduate" (THAT. ENDING.), "These Are the Words" (poetry I want to gift my niece when she's older), "Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries" (swoony bickering romance, great winter vibes, Emily is me) Worst: "Empire of the Vampire" (technically DNF'd, but read 500 out of 700 pages), "Better Than Fiction" (I've come to realize I am NOT a romance girlie) Disappointing: "A Lesson in Vengeance" (great vibes, hate the doomed lesbian trope), "Empire of the Vampire" (misogynistic AF society, story felt slow and clogged despite interesting ideas and premise) "The Book of Life" (major conflicts were SUPER rushed, felt like not much happened by the end) Biggest Surprise: "If I Have to be Haunted" (a little rushed and cliched, but the romance was still cute), "I Capture the Castle" (the romances were a little annoying, but the themes and settings were great)

And I also loved A Study in Drowning! Conversely, I loved both What Moves the Dead and Starling House and I didn’t care for Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries
