thanks to love & pies for sponsoring!!
these are the worst books that i read this year. my least favorites. i take my duty very seriously when it comes to reading popular things and reporting back to all of you and you should not be surprised that the majority of this list is a result of that project. if i respected myself more i would finish these books less.
disclaimer disclaimer if you take my opinion seriously that is on you - these did not work FOR ME, a 23 year old girl with 0 qualifications other than having fantastic style and great hair. you can read whatever you want.

@@imboringidkwhyimalive Alison Bechdel created a set of rules or criteria to check if a work of fiction (usually a movie) had written female characters stereotypically or as sexist caricatures of women. Here is a definition I found: “a way of evaluating whether or not a film or other work of fiction portrays women in a way that is sexist or characterized by gender stereotyping. To pass the Bechdel test a work must feature at least two women, these women must talk to each other, and their conversation must concern something other than a man.”

Honestly I liked Icebreaker for the first 5 chapters where Stassie hated him. It’s pretty common for figure skaters and hockey players to have a nasty rivalry - hockey players can be really misogynistic. I think she was valid to hate Nate for what she viewed as him not being responsible for his teammates as captain. Hockey players practice a lot, especially if they’re a good team, as do figure skaters, so considering there’s only so much time between classes for both groups to practice it seems okay (not that they ever go to class). Maybe it’s because I’m canadian but every uni has at least two rinks in their complex, so that’s not a cracked up rich person thing. The problem was that there was no plot, every character was shallow, they suddenly went from disliking each other to fucking like rabbits, and the author had a fundamental misunderstanding of both sports she was trying to represent. I hated icebreaker with a passion.

@fefefefefer 4 ай бұрын
yes! i was really excited for all the abusive-skater-partner plot, but it never really came. it was never resolved, the author just got lost with a lot of pwp (porn withouth plot) and killed the potencial of the book😊

I love your video description! Thank you for including such great timestamps. I don't usually comment on someone's looks, but since you mentioned that your "fantastic style and great hair" are your qualifications for reviewing and rating these books, I've gotta tell you that I love your outfits and your hair! Your taste in sweaters is impeccable.

Just wanted to say that each time I see one of your videos it brightens my day! It's a lot of fun to see your mind at work dismantling - or enjoying - a book, and you manage an incredible wit with each of your reviews. And in this case suffering through things to entertain us is another plus!

I was so excited to see a new video of yours pop up, and ESPECIALLY so when it's something you hated. I don't know exactly what it is, and I wish it weren't so (for your own sanity) but the way you describe things you've hated is SO entertaining. Thank you for exposing these books so I never have to hate read them. ❤

I LOVED the deep dive style of the credence video. I know it's pain for you but that kind of video is everything for me and you did it so well. I'd watch it about a good book too, not just an actually terrible one 😂

I recently got back into reading again and every time I feel bad about only reading 2-4 books a month while other people are out here reading 12, I remember you telling me that it’s okay, and even healthy, for reading to not be your whole life. Thank you for your content, and I don’t mind if you don’t have the spoons to respond to this ❤️

I love listening to you talk about awful books, I've been obsessed with your video on Credence lately and I'm happy (?) to see it make #1 of this list, lmao I don't read a lot of books, but one of my least favorite books of all time was one I read a few years ago, 11/22/63 by Stephen King, and at the time I was the only one in my book club who didn't absolutely love it. I would love to see you talk about it, see if maybe I just have bad taste or it really is as bad as I remember

The algorithm gods gifted me your Credence video yesterday and I've been down the rabbit hole ever since. These book reviews are giving my soul everything I need 💜💜💜 Also so happy to hear another perosn didnt like The Fine Print. Honestly the best thing about it now is that the cover of the book looks cool

thank you so much for reading all of these books for us and providing us with videos! I could listen to you rant forever; the way you express your thoughts just hits precisely how I wish I could express myself. I found your channel over the trope jail videos on TikTok and I've been in love with your presentation style ever since

I feel like a lot of booktubers are overly kind about books and not super picky, which I can tend to be at times, so I LOVE and appreciate your brutal honesty sm. I watched your Credence video because multiple people in my life were considering reading despite some of the themes I heard of and shared with them (the same reasons I choose not to consume such.. debauchery.. and don’t get me wrong I also grew up on Wattpad I can get with some wild shit but just no) so I truly appreciated your break down and willingness to take one for the team 😂❤
