I was easily most hyped for Steve. I started Smash with 4 (though I had played Brawl a bit before that), and in the leadup I was mostly just excited for Mega Man and Bowser Jr. Ultimate had a lot more exciting characters for me, with Inkling, Ridley, K. Rool, and Banjo (the latter three only because of their legendary status). When Steve was announced? I was freaking the hell out. I never thought it would happen, and yet it did.

I mean i was screaming in a car outside Best Buy with my friends when joker was revealed and neither of them played the game but p5 is one of my favorite games. I was slamming my desk etika style for Steve and the same for sephiroth. I don’t think there will ever be a reveal that tops those 3.

My top picks are Megaman, Simon, Ryu, Sonic, Cloud and Sephiroth. Each, at their time, where huge reveals that you coulnd't believe they were in Smash.

I'd just sunk into Mega Man Classic shortly before Mega Man himself was revealed and I literally *screamed* when the helmet came on. Loudly. ...Mom thought I'd hurt myself. sorry, mom And this whole time I said "there's no way Steve isn't going to be Number 1 it BROKE. TWITTER." I was THERE. I even contributed a little. Even though my playtime with Minecraft really is to this day about the same as yours I just went "THEY DIDN'T... THEY DID!!!!"

Since I started playing Smash with the release of Smash 3DS, the most hyped I've been for a character was Min Min. She was my main in ARMS from Day 1 and I had her 5th on my wishlist of most wanted fighters. All throughout Smash 4 DLC and Ultimate, I never had a newcomer I wanted join yet. When it was announced an ARMS fighter would be joining, I hoped it would be Min Min, and it happened! I like her a lot so I was very hyped. Steve was also on my wishlist and he's probably the one I was second most hyped for, however I wasn't really playing Minecraft when he was revealed and I thought he could join eventually.

I am excited for this!

Cloud was introduced to Smash before I really got into Final Fantasy. I knew who he was and knew he was a big deal, but I didn't have much of a reaction to him. By contrast, when Sephiroth was announced, I was well-versed in Final Fantasy, and he became one of my favorite villains, so I completely lost my mind.

One thing about Greninja: By the time it was revealed in Smash 4, it had already won two massive popularity polls by IGN and Dorkly. Both had millions of votes and Greninja came on top as the most voted gen 6 Pokemon, with overwhelming advantage over the 2nd places (Yveltal). So yeah, Greninja was already loved within the Pokemon fanbase, but since a sole starter wasn't common in Smash, there wasn't much speculation around it, which turned out great in the end. I was ecstatic that day.

If I had to choose a top pick for a reveal trailer, my number 1 would go to Sephiroth, since he came out of nowhere. Once you hear One-Winged Angel or see Sephiroth's silhouette, you know sh*t's about to go down, and on top of it, Cloud now has two Final Smashes and Mario nearly died, which is why Sephiroth is number 1 for me.

A Blaster Master rep in Smash would be freak'n rad! I can understand your reasoning for Steve and I figured Cloud was gonna be #1 or #2 simply because that announcement was basically unbelievable at the time. I still kind of feel Sonic should be #1, even if he did seem pretty likely after Snake it was still bonkers for Sonic to be playable in Brawl. Personally I was the most hyped for Banjo and Mega Man, Mega Man still didn't seem that likely despite the demand because Capcom wasn't showing the series much love at the time, so that reveal for Smash was beyond hype for me. But even so I can't deny that Cloud, Sonic and Steve were bigger events and Snake was the one who opened the door. I approve of your revised ranking that puts Corrin below Byleth. These have been interesting videos and I look forward to your future content.

Megaman is too dann low. His inclusion was super hype due to him being absent for a very long time and he was top 3 most wanted in Japanese and American list of characters.

I can see how Steve was in first, being from fricken Minecraft, but I'm SOOOOO happy Cloud made it in the top two. He's my all time favorite in the whole universe of games and movies, and I'm glad so many people like FF7 seemingly as much as I do.

No offense just want to give you a little information. Originally in Star Wolf debuted in the unreleased Star Fox 2 but as I'm sure people are aware of that game was canceled to make room for Star Fox 64. But the out of nowhere Star Fox 2 was released fully complete! (Honestly Sonic is definitely the character I main and is my favorite video game franchise of all time and I'd put him at 1 but that's just me but not just because I love the series but because he basically is the third party character but either way great video good sir take care)

In Japan, I think Hero would still be lower, in fact, in the middle, due to their popularity and nostalgia. Both Japanese people were hyped for both Hero and Banjo, but I think Banjo overshadowed Hero.

For me, it is Mewtwo Banjo and Sephiroth

I think I'm more willing to give it to Cloud, simply due to how his palettes intertwine between the game and the movie he was in. Not to mention that when Sephiroth was released, they even changed up Cloud's Final Smash to the one he uses in the movie when wearing his movie outfit. And yeah, some could say that Steve's palettes are all unique, but they are only addressed to a video game and not to any other form of media.

My most hypest reveal is without a doubt King K. Rool. I almost fainted out of cheer excitement. I used to play DKC1 on my GBC as a child. And while Melee was my first Smash, I was so hyped when I knew Brawl was in the works. I was not a huge speculist at that time, but King K. Rool was my number one wish, to have him fight alongside Bowser, Mewtwo and Ganondorf would be badass, and with more news like Metaknight and eventually Wolf I was lead to believe that Krool was a shoe-inn. Oh boy ... Game by game came out and I lost my hope. Until the; "EVERYONE IS HERE" trailer with the presentation ending with Ridley. IT'S A SIGN, I thought, and when that day came, me, my younger brother and best friend watched the direct from my laptop in the kitchen. I noticed the rumble as Sakurai was saying his goodbye and I just went; "KING K. ROOL!?!?!?!?", and then we saw the images of heroes vs villains and I knew! Then switching over to DK I was in shock, a pre-hype that finally my most wanted was going it. It couldn't be ANYONE ELSE, and I knew, that even if K. Dedede tried to trick us, I KNEW, and I jumped up and down going; "K. Rool, K. Rool, K. Rool, his back!!!" and my mum ran into the kitchen wondering what on Earth just happened. And my bestfriend went; "He just became super excited that a giant green video game crocodile became a playable character in a game he enjoys". That sums up the 17 years of waiting for my number one character.

Banjo kazooie for me. Played their game so much as a kid but basically gave up on them appearing with the tanking of their franchise. I may have cried when I saw the reveal xD. But then again I cried at the ultimate reveal that everyone was coming back for it.

I’d argue K. Rool should be just that bit higher. Growing up in the Brawl and 4 scene of Smash, K. Rool was like this ephemeral figure to many fans, myself included. An iconic monarch from a bygone era whose name just never seemed to go unuttered in a discussion on potential newcomers. While my vote was unyielding to a certain giant purple pterosaur space dragon, I was in massive support of K. Rool. When he finally got in, everyone I knew went absolutely ballistic in ecstasy. I’d argue he’s even deserving of top five, as I and many others just could not wait to get the chance to play as him, practically frothing at the mouth.
