Thoshiro Hitsugaya is among my top 10fev Bleach character. I started to like him from the moment i saw him in op2 1st time🗿 Btw sir My Birthday is 20th Dec & Thoshiro Hitsugaya's Birthday is also 20th Dec 😅

@@marceljohnson2215Gin was playing around with him and because of it he lost function of his entire right arm and is visibly pissed when Toshiro catches him off guard. He straight up states that Toshiro is dangerous, and warns Izuru to leave, proceeds to mess around and then after he actually gets hurt he’s unable to keep shorty off of him so he resorts to targeting Momo just to get some space. If you get put in a disadvantageous situation cause you wanted to troll, that is ENTIRELY on you. Same as Aizen. Bro knew about Ichigo’s insane rate of growth, he let Ichigo use the hyperbolic time chamber knowing this, and then started malding when he got worked because of it.

Same it's my favourite fight. Hitsugaya has insane moves from how well choreographed the fight is, the creative use of ice and the chain on his zanpakuto. It's a beautiful action sequence.

Indeed. They both come across as stoic, but are actually very caring and some of the most benevolent member of their respective groups. Both of them also seem to embody the possibility of changes that a new generation can bring.

@@jrgenvellesen7800 Yes. It's very interesting and even jarring when you look into it. Fierce warriors who nevertheless have hearts and ultimately protect those they care for. Harribel and her Fracciones surviving into the postwar era is especially heartwarming considering what they went through.

@@manuelacosta9463 Yes. Harribel and her parental relationship with her Fracciones makes her one of the most endearing members of the Hollow species. It also explains why she and Starrk were close, both of them are very caring, if somewhat socially awkward.

@@jrgenvellesen7800 Yes. That's what makes them anomalies among Hollows. Both are power and lethally skilled yet do not want or seek conflict at all even being morally opposed to killing as a rule. Maybe we will get to see more of this nuance with Harribel with series revival, she will certainly protect her Fracciones and others from hell's demons.

that's why I'm not a fan of toshiro. Apart from him having no character development throughout the whole series, his fights are always overshadowed by a plethora of others in the same arc. To me, he's just a character that's "just there"

@@oliverfletcher8535 Disagree on the lack of character development. That would be the same as saying Ichigo from the Soul Society arc has no development. His character arc is simply more subtle than everyone else, because Kubo doesn't focus on him as much as say, Byakuya or Zaraki. Even worse, his backstory is kept in filler for the anime and omake for the manga. This will not convince you to like him, but I just wanted to shed light on this misconception that he has no development. In character writing, he has two arcs throughout the series: first, his negative character that starts at the end of the Soul Society arc. A missed opportunity Kubo had was not giving Ichigo and Hitsugaya a closer relationship and dichotomy in the Arrancar arc, but never the less, the two of them are going through the same arc. Losing themselves to a darker, inner desire and lack of power to achieve the goals of protecting/avenging their loved ones. Ichigo's relationship with his hollow and his lust for power to protect others. Hitsugaya's relationship with Aizen and his wrath to destroy him to avenge his loved one. And at the end of both their arcs, they both suffer. Ichigo loses his powers, his ability to protect his loved ones, and ends up in depression for nearly two years. Hitsugaya hurts and nearly kills the very person who he was trying to avenge. And at the end of the Fullbringer arc, the two begin their next arcs: second, their static character arc. This is defined as a character who needs to stay strong in who they are as the world tries to change them. For Hitsugaya, it is the brutality of the war that tries to changes him and for Ichigo, it is the revelations of his identity as a man. And the arc concludes with Hitsugaya's adult form, showing the destiny of who he will become as long as he stays true to himself, and finally, his words to Byakuya at the end, where he discusses the teachings at the academy about fighting for your friends. Through all the brutality that has happened to him, Hitsugaya has stayed steady where characters before him fell: Gin, Tousen, Komamura, Yamamoto, etc. And at the near end of the arc, Hitsugaya, the youngest captain, representative of a younger generation, is allowed the final words by Kubo to claim, it's been ten years of peace. This is all without mentioning his relations with Gin, Rangiku, Yamamoto his backstory, his powers, his zombie form, etc. There's a wealth of depth here without even the need of headcanoning or crafting theories. It's just that Kubo doesn't focus on him or offer him as much spectacle.

You do know they were at war right ? A war for all of creation at that. There are no rules in war. No such thing as cheap tricks. It's do whatever it takes to win. You must hate Askin Naak lavaar.

@@Grayson-Winchester I don't think a clash would have been necessary between them. Not to mention, Ichigo had no counter to being frozen or dodging ice dragons at the time. I think a better way to incorporate his character into his friend group with Renji and Rangiku would have been to first have Hitsugaya interrogate his friends in prison and then, link their goal to Renji's goal, following Renji to Ichigo and Yoruichi's hideout. From there, they can form an alliance and hopefully, have a closer bond in the Arrancar arc. So, rather than a fight, we are introduced more to Hitsugaya's deductive abilities, calm rationale, and his emotional intelligence.

@@ladrellhart2063 I think pre Auswahlen Bazz B vs Adult Toshiro would be an interesting fight for sure. But I don't think Bazz B would let all the flowers melt. He is not a patient man.

Bankai is a 5 to 10 times increase to power, which is a very high number, and toshiro in particular is one of the characters with the biggest gap between the 2 (if he goes all out), Tenso Jurin is infinitely more powerful than anything his shikai can dish out.

@@typeouetco1626 what you said is true but my whole point was that Bazz B was also only using a small portion of his power. One finger without Vollstandig active is literally his lowest level of offense and he was dominating Toshiro's shikai with low difficulty. Bankai would have just made him briefly fight seriously

Everything from toshiros desire to protect momo, momo being gaslit, gin being a fucker, hints at gin and rangikus relationship, all so great

If there is a Hell Arc, everyone is soul society is expecting him to fight Yamamoto, and u know that's gonna be a damn good

@@stopable1473 That could definitely be interesting if we ever get it. I always figured that if any Captain was going to surpass Yamamoto, it would be him. Still I worry because Kubo's writing for Hitsugaya as always felt very bipolar to me and there are reasons a lot of people did not realize that he actually won his 1 v. 1 with Harribel and that he could have easily killed Gerad on his own if the man was not immortal.

​@@ThatGUY666666 I think the main issue is that Kubo still sees Hitsugaya as a child in his mind and that influences how he plans all his encounters out. I think the best example of this is the fight with Harribel and Hyoten Hyakkaso. You have these sharp spiky flowers that bloom to ...gently encase your enemy in a prison of ice... Seriously? If Hitsugaya wasnt a child, I bet Kubo would have made that attack stab into and shred the enemy instead of just trapping them. The same can be said of almost all Hitsugaya's abilities. Kubo takes the time to show the jagged sharpness of the ice abilities that Toshiro can use but never once does he stab anyone with them? It has to be because Kubo doesn't feel right making a child that agressive. Even when Zombiefied his attacks are more narrow in scope, limited to just his sword when he could be using far more against Mayuri. I think this is also the main reason most of Hitsugaya's fights are not decisive victories because Kubo saves that brutality for Kenpachi who he portrays as a brutal ruthless juggernaught while Hitsugaya is a child fighting grown ass men and women.

It would have been interesting to see him build a bond with Ichigo that way.

@@clintmatthews3500 it would evolve into a friendly competition. Like he Ichigo has with Renji. Actually Toshiro should have also been allowed to train in Reiōkyū. Like Ichigo and Renji he was using a halfbaked Bankai most of the story and reverted back to his roots.

@@Grayson-Winchester The problem with Hitsugaya was different Byakuya, Ichigo, Rukia and Renji. Byakuya needed a new understanding of his power, a new philosophy to capture his character arc. Ichigo needed to learn the truth of who is. Renji needed to earn the respect of his zanpakuto - and himself. Rukia needed to outright learn hers. Hitsugaya, similar to Zaraki, lacked a body that could handle his power. Similar to Zaraki, whose arm combusted, Hitsugaya, imploded from overuse of his bankai against Shawlong. I have a theory that Hitsugaya, since he obtained his bankai, could access the power of shown from his adult form, but the first time he had used his bankai, it nearly killed him. (And this applies to all captains and Ichigo from the Arrancar arc onwards. For instance, I don't believe Byakuya started off with a safe zone for his bankai - I believe he had to develop it himself. Or similarly, the reason Ichigo doesn't rely on speed anymore with his original bankai was because it was destroying his body against Byakuya, so he switched to relying on power instead)/ From that experience, Hitsugaya developed the petals as a seal upon himself to stop his power from coming out all at once. Hence why, against Shawlong, he imploded. His body was not ready for it. It's only from the Fullbring arc onwards, he trained for a way to bypass that limit by somehow forcibly aging his body up. Again, only a theory. Feel free to disagree.

​@@wrightl.graves3080while you're theory sounds good I think it was a narrative decision. Rukia, Renji and Byakuya have a stronger connection to Ichigo and therefore the story. This problem could have been solved in a training in Reiōkyū. His hollowfication also almost killed him and while it was a cool design his power up was short lived. Ichigo was the reason why Zaraki wanted to become stronger after years of boredom.

@@Grayson-Winchester I'm not a fan of it, personally. For Rukia, Renji and Ichigo, it made reasonable sense to me. But something I've always loved about Kubo's writing of Hitsugaya is that he isn't an effortless genius - he is an effort through genius. Yes, he was given a great power, but it came with the caveat that he needed to work hard for that power. The war pushed him to his limits and revealed new sides to his character. His zombie version allowed us a glimpse into how powerful Hitsugaya always was, but chose to never allow that side of himself out. His adult version offered his a glimpse where his potential was leading him and the powerful endpoint, in theory, of his power. Simply being given Royal Palace training for no reason seems to undermine how much Hitsugaya works and crawls for every inch of his power and even status as a captain.

I feel like his introduction as a prodigy, said to have the most powerful cold/ice type, will surpass Shunsui, said by Shunsui himself. And his first impression in SS when he got one shot by Aizen just dont match and made ppl like at first or at least intrigued only to not have those expectations met later on in the series as well disappointed some fans.

Yeah I hated him. And he had too much screentime for my taste. I didn't like the fact he was a prodigy and a kid, and Kyoraku saying he will surpass him in 100 years makes me feel all the other capitains are useless and all that just because he has "the strongest" Ice Zanpakuto. My poor Rukia : ( But slowly he is growing on me. He is allright and maybe I will really like him someday.

Funny enough, when you mentioned how Shiro should not have been made a Captain yet, it reminded me that Squad 10 unexpectedly lost their captain, and when that happened during the SS arc the Gotei were eager to fill those spots ASAP. What I am getting at is that Toshiro's promotion to Captain was potentially a reaction to fill that vacancy, hence explaining why he is pretty underwhelming as a captain. Wonder if Toshiro, Shinji, Rose, and Kensei go out drinking together and contemplate about whether they are living up to the strength of the Captains who previously had their roles.

Nothing Gin did at that age was even close to what Hitsugaya did. Gin killed a seated officer while Hitsugaya beat an Espada.

Kensei might be stronger than Tosen. But Isane, Soi Fon, Rukia and Kyoraku can join them @@hiromitailor8075

Exactly this 🙂😊 ty for writting it. Hitsugaya is the classic case of an amazingly designed character ruined by poor combats. His first fight is actually his only excellent performance in terms of how thrilling it was for us to read/watch it. All the ones that followed were less and less interesting until he finally became an unremarkable character, at least for me.

That's a strange way to spell poor Soifon. I think she fell more into the Renji archetype, poor girl. You can, at least, make some justifications for Hitsugaya for most of his "ass pulls". Soifon absolutely gets nothing. Kubo is so obsessed with forcing her into direct combat situations.

⁠@@wrightl.graves3080Kubo is obsessed with hard countering her. She could be a great frontline combatant if she is actually allowed to use her powers and skills. Barragan was just a terrible match up with his time powers and BG9 turns out to be an armored robot that already has her on file and can counter whatever she throws at him. She is a master of hand to hand, has shunko, a very compatible shikai with hakuda, and those fancy flash step clones. But they just aren’t allowed to work because her opponents are immune to them except for her lame ass bankai.

The exhaustion and beautiful ice as he fell from the sky afterwards was awesome. It truly set up how powerful the Espada were going to be

I understand that you are a fan of Rukia, but your attidute towards her makes you unable to see and evaluate power clearly. There are multum of characters stronger, even far stronger, than Rukia. She is, in the TYBW Arc, probably at the level of an average captain. That's it. I am not very fond of Hitsugaya, but it is directly stated that his Hyorinmaru is the strongest ice-type Zanpakuto in the entire Gotei 13 at that time. And we get to see a short flash of that power in his fight against Gerard. That alone excludes Rukia's from that position.

That an amazing idea! Ichigo’s Z Schrift could be called “The Zenith” which basically means something at its peak. It would maximize his unique chimera of being part Hollow, Shinigami, and Quincy Hollow: His Fullbring design armor as Hierro. A Cero which enhances melee combat Quincy: Unconscious Reishi gathering for infinite stamina Shinigami: True Bankai can change the density of his Getsuga Tensho. A black hole for gravity since the moon controls ocean waves.

I imagine Ichigo would be P "The Potential". Since there are multiple references to Ichogo being potentially able to gain the almighty, a power along the lines of what if ichigo learned these powers instead seem appropriate. Or similar to Toshiro he could assume a form and power he'd have in the future.

Chinese forums often joke that Ichigo would be D "deaf". Because he always says "What are you talking about?"
