Hell, I live in Reno, Nevada, and it's an open secret that the rising homeless population here, especially of the unrepentant addict variety, is entirely because San Francisco and Sacramento treat this town like it's their personal human waste basket. Following the Mexican Cession of 1848, the U.S. didn't name us 'New Mexico' after the country of Mexico like so many Americans believe. All they did was translate the name Spain had already given us several centuries prior.

IIRC at least for the roads it's because they're always sinking into the swampland, so all you can really do is repave them periodically, but it's basically infrastructural wack a mole. That being said yeah decades of trickle down policies tends to leave one as a third world country.

As a Texan, I am always surprised that international communities think we represent the US in a major way. We're really not like the rest of the US & dont really want to be. Pretty much every other state, except maybe Arizona (they're chill), would throw an absolute fit at the idea that Texas represents them.

Standard wait time in any American ER if you are not actively dying is 5-6 hours. Basically, American health care really isn't that much better or worse than a lot of places with government-run health care (and actually, about 1/3 of our citizens were covered by either Medicare or Medicaid BEFORE Obamacare), it's just that it costs twice as much, leaving us less to spend on stuff like education. Which explains a lot. 😬

As an Alabama native, I can assure you the true religion is college football. I went to another country and got roll tide hollared at me. Nascar is how they break up fights in split families or divided households (houses where the family is split between Alabama and Auburn fans).
