Suit up for classic comedy! Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) take a chance on going freelance, de-haunting houses in a new ghost removal service. As soon as they open their doors, their first order of business becomes saving beautiful cellist Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) and nerdy Louis Tully (Rick Moranis), who’ve inadvertently opened the gates of hell… right in their own apartment building!
Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), (Egon Spengler) Harold Ramis, and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) take up their proton packs once more to battle the forces of evil in Manhattan! After waging a war on slime that cost New York City millions, the Ghostbusters find themselves out of business until an ancient tyrant, preparing a return to the Earthly domain through his portrait at the Manhattan Museum of Modern Art, sets his sights on Dana Barrett's baby as the new home for his wicked soul! With the help of the Museum's possessed curator, he plans to turn New York into a really scary place to live! Now only the Ghostbusters can save New York City, by turning paranormal pest control into an art form!

Secretly one of my favorite scenes. Just a quiet conversation. The music gets dark and serious with the ambience of the traffic lights hitting Ray and Winston almost evoking lightening. A perfect scene and Ernie Hudson is excellent!

Few films are as original , or as iconic as Ghostbusters . The idea of sci fi ghost hunting , ghosts being serious but played for laughs , using a fire station as a base , A herse as an icon , THE PROTON PACKS , the simple brown overalls that are still recognisable . I really think these films are great

It definitely would’ve been a pretty cool and unique concept at the time the film first came out now that I think about it! In particular you probably wouldn’t have seen much comedy about ghosts or the like outside of horror movie spoofs.

2.54 on this video... When I was a kid with vhs in the 80s(i seen batman and Gb2 in cinemas in 89) a kid in Dublin I fell in love with the shot of Ecto on the bridge. Early morning..that vista of NYC.... Wow I love it. I've been to America a few times but never to NYC. What a city and what a feeling this stirs in me. The idea of a cluncky 1950's Ambulance/hearse having to speed around the NY bouroghs , the weight alone would strain the suspension and shock absorbers especially with the added weight on the roof and the proton packs, also NY has tight roads in some areas I'm sure the Ghostbusters spent alot more than what Ray predicted at the start throughout their calls. That's why I love it, it's so daft and believable that Ray would buy this than the latest Van or stationwagon.

at the start yes they were illegally burning through new york without clearence from the authorities however not much a police officer can do as they are not imprsonating police/fire/paramedic. later in the movie when they were getting recognized by the media the NYPD didnt get involved and let them carry on. after the coming of Goza the Mayor gave them legal ability to evade traffic laws while on a call. This continued until the lawsuit that stopped them from being paranormal investigators in GB2 - Source GB wiki and various books on the lore of the GB universe

I absolutely love this car. Both Ecto-1 and 1A. The siren is also what does it for me. I would readily (if I legally can) I'd drive with it on and off the highway lol. I'd get this car long before I'd get the Delorean Time Machine and KITT if I could.

I agree. Of all the classics, I love 50s and 60s Cadillacs. My dream car would be a 1954 Eldorado convertible in Ferrari Red. In perfect condition, those can auction for almost $160,000!

I get chills as soon as the song starts, and then at 1:18 I just start crying like a little baby. That Ecto-1 siren noise is so iconic! :'D

See even back in the day when GB2 was filmed they knew 2020 was going to be disastrous since the # to call them on Ecto1a is JL5-2020(which was going to be GB3 release date).

I remember when my brother and I raced home with a copy of the film from the local Blockbuster to watch it. We saw the phone number and tried it. It connected to somewhere in New York and a woman named Lauren answered the phone! My brother freaked, snatched the phone from me and hung up. It was a bizarre experience.

You can't tell me otherwise that Ray Stantz is also Ray Zielinski from Tommy Boy. Not only are they both played by Dan Aykroyd, they are both car people. 0:42 is my proof for those of you who have seen Tommy Boy as well.

yup, just like Night Rider, DeLorean DMC-12, Dodge Charger, Herbie, the Bluesmobile, Trotter's Reliant Van, the Sheep Dog Van from Dumb & Dumber, Jurassic Park jeep, the triple decker English bus from Harry Potter, the A-Team's Van, Benny the Cab, and the Gorillaz's car they drove in that music video.

Can I have some info on that? I thought Afterlife was a fan trailer made as a prank. Then I hear that it MIGHT be true. Is there a Ghostbusters: Afterlife film in the works?

Echo-1 is a character in and of itself and l just love that siren for some reason, its a very unique sounding siren, this car completed the awesomeness that is ghostbusters
