Anyone who doesn't give this game a chance is judging this game based solely on looks. The story in this game was one of the best stories I've ever experienced since The Last of Us. The mystery and intrigue is what kept me playing this game. I needed to know what happened.

Don't judge this game because of all the walking, I thought it would be boring too. I was wrong. The script and acting was brilliant. It drags you in to find out what the hell is going on. It's not for the action or shooter gamers out there, but it's different and does draw you into the game the more you play, as you want to find out what's happened. A big thumbs up from me 👍.

Mystic Dragon Gaming There are plenty of video games that have excellent art and story, but also implement great gameplay mechanics. This game lacks both engaging gameplay and mechanics so its something that I and many others would rather watch then play.
@zBlacksad
@zBlacksad 9 жыл бұрын
Mystic Dragon Gaming *Sigh* that's a really foolish assumption. Art/story and innovation are very important to me, but not at the expense of gameplay ... or in this case, any semblance of actual, engaging gameplay. You could argue that moving around constitutes gameplay, but then the same could be said of those interactive game engine showcases.
@mamfi1908
@mamfi1908 9 жыл бұрын
Mystic Dragon Gaming Story isn't the problem, he clearly appreciates the story. Still, story is only half, if not less, of a game. Video games require interaction between player and world, if that barely exists, and what exists of it is absurdly broken, then the game fails at a major part of what a game is. It even hurts the story. Many (including me) skip a lot of the probably interesting story because of the unnecessary time it takes to move from A to B

This is a game you play just for the pure experience that the plot gives you. It wont give you a thrill or fill your action desires but this is the kind of game which ,given a chance and enough time, will stay with you for a long time just because of its story. I love games like this, they're a very welcome brake from the usual.

I stumbled across this game in a PS Now trial and its unexplainable how it made me feel once I started it. So many emotions really, couldn’t tell whether I should be on edge of fear, sadness, or just flabbergasted by how beautiful the scenery and angelic music came together. I want this to be a real place and want to know the characters more....and actually see them, but you don’t! Truly my favorite game! If there was only a way to eliminate the orb that seems to aggressively rush you through, it would make you feel like you’re in a dream

I love it when a game drops that requires the player to actually think for once so they can get the story for themselves. Its brilliant to read the comments and see those moaning and knocking the game. They have no idea that they are actually publicly admitting that they don't have the intelligence to grasp these kinds of games.

I wasn't intrigued by this game at the beginning. I didn't know much about it and it basically came out of nowhere. It took me a while to buy it, but after I did I was glad I made the right choice. This game is gorgeous to look at, the story is gripping, the music is phenomenal and it's just a well made game. As the review said, it is very slow when walking and the game doesn't help you when doing things. There's a lot of collectibles and if you miss even one, you're screwed as it doesn't tell you which ones you've collected. If you have a PS4 and are into games with a great story, I highly recommend this game.

It's really really sad that so much people are judging the game because of the walking speed... I played it when it first came out, finished it, absolutly loved it! And this week I finished the platinum and they DID fastened the speed and tbh, if they made the walking speed anymore fast than this, it would take away the feeling of emotion and immersion imo. I still come back to this game so many times and you just have to appreciate it for the style it has, sadly many cannot see that bc it's all about gameplay these days and not content. This game is a gem ❤

The only gripe I had with this game was the damn slow walking, particularly when going for the platinum trophy (which I got) or tracking back to other areas. Other than that, for those who enjoy well written, mystery filled story-driven games, this is a masterpiece. A word I don't throw around often. The story is incredible. Visuals are exceptional. And the soundtrack... Heavenly is the most fitting word.

Review Summary: This game got nothing going for it in terms of quality gameplay of any kind as you'd expect for being a "video *GAME*", but were gonna give it a pass and just rate it a solid score because it had a semi decent story and just for the sake of it being an "artistic fresh game title". We (or rather just me that is...) wouldn't recommend getting this at full price, maybe at a discount or as a free PS+ title?

I've never before have played a game that has made me feel more alone, and I know this is going to be an unsettling feeling for a lot. However realize that the light is youre ally and you can experience the memory and actions of youre fellow neighbors in this beautiful village. I hope I kept this spoiler free but this game will have you questioning who the writer is and where the people exactly are....which is a question you don't want to acknowledge till the end of the game

Indie games like this are so cool and unique and one of the main reasons I love video games. People that have play stations and xboxes can both realize that video games are amazing. Why does their have to be constant fighting. People say people who have Xbox don't appreciate indie games but I got an xbox one and instead of saying to my parents I got the console I didn't prefer I just shut up and was glad I got a new system, so let's stop being team pc master race or team ps4 or team Xbox and let's just be gamers.

Fantastic game. Great visuals, audio, bespoke soundtrack which is out of this world. Proper voice actors. Probably the best game ever to play on the PS4.

This is the type of game I don't want to spoil. I watched a gameplay video from the developers months ago, and I knew I needed it then. Thankfully I've forgotten much of the details. A skim through a few parts of this video were all I needed to know I should stop typing and go download this. Thanks.

Gambit Campaign I get the artistic appeal, but as a game I did not enjoy it one bit. Painfully slow walking, boring. No sense of gameplay whatsoever other than opening doors, walking, listening to conversations. Soundtrack was great though. Maybe it's just me, it gets at least a score of 8 all over the place..

I pretty much agree with the reviewer. The music was hauntingly beautiful it gave me chills at some points in the game. The graphics/setting were perfect and nice to look at. I will add that the voice acting was phenomenal. Some of the best voice work in a videogame. It felt tangible in the sense that there were no character animations but the voice was enough to get a feel of the characters. I do agree that the walking is slow and that 'sprint' walk is not that much of a help but I came to realize that if it were any faster the atmosphere of the game would be lost. This is not a run and shoot game.

I don't agree on this being just 8.5! I have played many different styles of games and wouldn't class one like this to be my favourite style. But i've played this game four times now. And every time I learned more into everybodys lives. I mainly played it this many times to also complete trophies. This is the very first game that ive ever gone and tried to do any trophy for never mind the fact I got the platinum for it. Sheets the move realistically to you walking through them. Wheat bending out of the way as you walk through it. Very few bugs from the release. Best music soundtrack ever to be found in a game that merges perfectly with its story, setting, lighting and characters! This game could never have a sequel. Its like a interactive visual audio book. My girlfriend who doesn't play games at all loves this game for its context, concept and calm playing. I recommend this game to everyone. I was wary about buying it thinking it could be a waste of money. But now...I don't think they are charging enough. 9.8/10

They did. I checked the controller layout. They added a note at R2 as "gradually increase speed" or something like that. The sprint has always been there I guess.

Beautiful graphics of a quaint English town in a valley coupled with absolutely breathtaking bg music makes this game so riveting. The individual stories of characters intertwined in poignant moments and the inclusiveness the games makes you feel like you're in them will make the memory of this game stay with you for a long time just like any well written books or movies would do. The absolutely simple gameplay, or if I may say the lack of it, makes this game perfect to justify that you, the gamer, has no responsibility of what happened to the residents of the town. And I'm only halfway into the game!! 🤣 LOVE IT!!

8.5 out of 10? I'm assuming that's actually the score for how painful your hand cramps holding down the R2 trigger for 5 hours to get the character to slowly walk around the map instead of crawling. Or maybe it's a 7.5 with a bonus point for having to sit through 10 minutes of unskippable credits at the end. I'm pretty sure they credited the guy who brought them pizza one day.

I guess piecing together story bits out of order might qualify as a "game." Then again, if you put in a DVD and randomly select chapters, then piece the story together, is that a game? I appreciate some of the storytelling in these walking simulator "games," but they really are just "digital, slightly interactive stories playable on video game consoles." I think most people who choose these types of "games" for their top lists haven't actually played that many video games. At least some developers like Telltale take more advantage of the medium with their interactive stories.

I downloaded this purely because it was free with PlayStation Plus however, I ended up enjoying this game a lot more than I thought I would, my only criticism like in the review, is the movement speed really is slow, however, ignoring that I ended up going through this game a couple of times so I could get the platinum trophy, as well as, taking my time to just stand in various locations around the area just to enjoy the great views and relaxing pace, for me this game is 8/10 and certainly worth playing all the way through at least once just to experience it

And that's why I love Playstation. Because it gives me the option to play these types of games. Instead of the same old franchises over and over again. because Playstation takes Indies like Gone to the Rapture and gives the developer a chance to realize their creation on a fantastic piece of hardware. Well done Sony! August has produced two fantastic exclusives in God of War and Rapture and now we can look forward to the exciting Until Dawn at the end of the month. Not bad for a system that has no games hey?

i think the movement speed is part of the game, its like "why hurry, theyres knowone else nothing left" so the character you play simply slodges its way through the town knowing there is no sence in hurrying.
