I really like PTCGL! As a free to play player on ptcgo, I had a very unforgiving experience where grinding was constantly necessary to just not get stomped in standard. PTCGL is VERY free to play friendly. My experience has been so much better on Live. Most of the KZfaq voices are biased from a non free to play perspective and thus don't understand how many people will eagerly support Live.

Didn't have this same experience. Everything worked well for me. It doesn't feel like an improvement though

I moved my account over a couple days ago and it was seamless. No issues at all. I really like that you can craft cards that you don’t have. My one main gripe is that it doesn’t let you play in landscape on mobile, so you can’t see your whole hand if you have more than 3-4 cards.

I started playing with Live on Monday and have fallen in love with it! This writer sounds like a person who wrote an article second handedly from a casual person's perspective. The game gives you a Lugia deck to start off...INCREDIBILY competitive. I've turned in more than 800 codes since I've transferred over (I work close handedly with a store owner) and have had ZERO issues. I will agree that the onboarding can be a bit smoother and we need a collection tab/better placement of the friends tab. But the game's economy is WAY better than the insane economy in PTCGO. In order for me to get 4 secret rare quick balls, I would need to have over 320 packs of the newest set. In live, it costs about 40 packs for all 4. We FINALLY have a ladder system!! This seemed WAY better than just playing infinite games back to back. I'm saying this from the USA, maybe the experience globally is different. Things are looking good though!

The theme deck format is one of my favorite ways to play the game its so sad its going away

If people were not forced to migrate to an inferior product, there wouldn't be so many complaints. PTCGL could have been its own game and ran parallel to PTCGO, then those PTCGL fans can go play their own game, and people who prefer to stick with PTCGO can play PTCGO.

I really don’t see it, I’ve played both and yes while there are some things missing, I haven’t felt so excited to play online since forever. I really like this version, the free decks are great and I have already constructed a Regidrago VSTAR deck with Duralodon, Giratina and Goodra by just playing, I didn’t have any of those cards before, it’s pretty good imo

I don't plan on picking up Live anytime soon. I just got into playing ptcgo and I love it! Hearing that Live isn't ready just makes me want to stay on ptcgo forever. I really hope they don't shut down ptcgo to make us transistion to live.

I’ve played 30 games and haven’t had a problem (went on a 22 game win streak with Lugia/Blissey!), albeit all have been on the mobile app which seems like a step forward but the desktop app is lacking in some areas

I'm a Canadian who's been playing since the beta launched. They've made massive strides since, and if they keep up this pace, the game will be amazing in less than a year. However, I will agree that, yes, it still has a long way to go. Gameplay could be faster and smoother in some areas; it needs some interface improvements; and there are aesthetic upgrades I would personally like to see, especially visually. Overall, I'm pleased with the beta, but the game has a long way to go before 'full' launch.

Well I can run live on my phone but idk why when i use my pc but it always keep popping u message for error 10010, but having good experience on live overall. Still it may need some more update but it is quick good serving it purpose now imo.

Wow I can't even make a deck even though I transported all my cards. For some reasons I cant use certain cards I own such as sky field and trainer mail in expanded

Writer of the article was trying to connect during server maintenance hours and finding the server not working correctly. While it is the dev's fault for allowing folk to connect during this time, problems experienced dont actually reflect the game, most of these issues with crashes and rewards not functioning etc dont exist since they completed the maintenance.

I just downloaded PTCGL and gave it a test run. It's alright I like the crafting system helps getting cards for decks easier. But what bums me out right now is you can't play and Expanded in ranked, and currently the expanded format on PTCGL is Sun/Moon onward. I still have and own all my cards from Black/White and they do show up on the search engine while building a deck.

My packs didnt convert into crystals when migrating, i opened a support ticket and they refunded me. I had the same errors during the tutorial. I want to be optimistic but im kinda struggling. On the plus side im enjoying Scarlet.

Had pretty solid experience been playing that lost zone kyogre list from a day or two ago. Really cheap for those who dont have alot of crafts.

Had no problem moving over. Yes Credits for crafting can be a bit tight, but fair price to pay to avoid paying 40 packs a Vstar. After logging in, it merged my cards over in 30 seconds and I was off to the races, 0 bugs, 0 problems.

There are good and bad things in the game, it is true that the bad outweigh the good, but we have to give merit where merit is due, some of the good things I enjoy are, the speed of animations, although a customizable animation speed bar would be nice, i enjoy the crafting, the battle pass, the player customization (up to a point), some of things I dislike are: the amount of unused screen space, the size of the cards on the screen is too small, the description box confuses me a lot of the time since it is so small, I have already misclicked when I wanted to retreat, the in game messages like when flipping a coin should be separated or of different colours, I dont enjoy the way dragging cards feels like but I guess coming from playing ptcgo for about 5 years, it might something to get used to, but I hope there is an improvement made, also during battle I would like cards to simulate battling by making contact or something, would also like them to not make the same cards stack in your hand, just be separate since that is how it would be in real life, would also like to increase the player ui in matches

After a year in beta and other testing, PTCG Live (or rather PCG Live as we lose "Trade") is like the Limp Bizkit's 2021 album.

As someone who wants to be able to just jump in an play the decks I want it sucks. I don't have time to play ladder all the time just to grind for it. The crazy thing is they aren't even adding mtx for people like me, who buys the codes to make them in ptcgo...

I've had little to no glitches so far. I was playing fine then I had over a 5 min wait to try and find a game in ranked. I just got off. I'm not waiting that long to play a mobile game

My #1 gripe is there's still no name change

Assuming the author bought packs at a big box store, like Target which now sells single blister packs for $4.49, not including tax, 20 packs come out to $89. So no, I wouldnt say thats misleading.

Why didn't they just make a mobile version of PTCGO and add in a crafting component? It just doesn't quite make sense to me that they would try to build an entirely new client.

Thank you for shedding light on the app. Also, I'm not sure why everyone says the code cards are worth the same price as the pack. You got 10 physical cards for that price. Code cards go for dirt cheap. They're not worth 4-5 bucks. Even celebrations, which sky rocketed due to ptcgl, is only worth $1 per code currently. Ptcgl is trash, and they should just improve ptcgo. Add crafting, and the few decent aspects of live, keep the trading, and don't fix what isn't broken.

I think this is all from launch day before the maintenance in the evening. I was having trouble with redeeming codes and battle pass rewards before the maintenance. I think people just want to complain that the new thing is worse when it is definitely a major visual upgrade. I have encountered a handful of bugs in my time playing but PTCGO has the loading card bug which in my opinion is pretty bad and should have been fixed by now. I think crafting and deck building is definitely the worst part of live since its hard to understand, but overall being able to play on the phone is a major plus and I can craft cards to build any deck I want to test. Also I have gotten several of my friends to start playing since the ugly old UI of PTCGO was a deterrent for some of them to download it

Theres is only 2 bad things that i think this game had, is the battery that this game consume, and the game mode like tournaments and there is no match up with friends

I actually just migrated simply bc of how much money I get to save to play lugia. It's a lot better than it was and I'm sure it'll keep getting better. My main gripe asides what everyone agrees on is the weird glare on full arts and golds, why is it so grainy and holo looks like odd rainbow lines

I'm going against the grain here but I actually like the new system. The 3 currency system makes sense. One is for boxes and coins. Another currency for buying card packs and battle pass, and one system for crafting cards. For a free to play player it will create less of a headache not having to choose if you want x card or the cool deck box. As far as the game play I haven't had the multiple issues others have had. I did have 2 instances of the game freezing, but it is in beta. Forest seal being banned is weird. I had assumed live had access to the code ptcgo was written on but that's obviously not the case. There are some quality of life changes I would like to see in live. Notably hovering over a tool or energy card will not expand the card itself, it expands the pokemon the card is attached too. I wish they would implement ptcgo's last prize card puckup. And yes the lack of a collection tab is weird. With the new crafting system why wouldn't you have a collection tab with missing cards darkened. Something that screams make me. People are obsessing over the game log not being present, but honestly I never used it in ptcgo. I feel like live is more responsive and quicker in its gameplay. But that is at the cost of fewer animations. Those things could change in the future and I suspect they will. The biggest difference between live and ptcgo in my opinion is the availability of cards. Now buying packs is harder, you only the crystal currency from completing 2 daily challenges or moving up the ladder, but almost every ladder tear rewards you with packs or currency to create cards. You will get more cards in live than In ptcgo if you are strictly free to play. Also live has every pack availavle. Not just booster packs but every V, and Vstar box availavle for sale in stores they have available in their crystal shop. Anyway that's my take on it. I'm not saying it's perfect, in fact they do need to work on things, but I do think with some tweaks the game will become as good as ptcgo if not better.

i miss the trading post

I think it's incredible. I love the way you can easily add cards to decks. It pretty much makes all decks accessible to everyone. Since playing I have managed to make 5 meta decks which would have cost me about 250 packs at $0.7 a go. I can't see how that's not amazing.

To be honest I think the game is pretty good, it has run smoothly for me and I have played well over 100 games. The animations are smooth, and the game is a lot quicker. However, it does have less features than ptcgo and it is very hard to get new cards, with crystals, so I have mixed feelings on it.

i see very very clear improvements to the game imo. live finally gave us a crafting system so i dont have to rely on a really terrible trading system to get the cards i need for an excessive price, and more importantly i do not have to spend a ton of money on the game in order to build any somewhat viable decks anymore, i could just craft the cards i need since i got several thousand crafting resources with the migration i will say though, the migration process was very unexpected and i didnt get a warning prompt. i ended up accidentally migrating too early bc i didnt thoroughly read a prompt i expected would be for somethjing else, and it screwed me over big time. also, card clarity in this game is far worse for no reason, however still manageable enough. it really shouldnt be so difficult to check the effects of tools or energy attached to my pokemon regardless and is a big step backwards.

5:23 The 8 premade decks are pretty close to the competitive versions of them, just with a few cards missing in some cases. This means they must be paying attention to the meta, which can't be said about the precons in PTCGO. Issues with crafting is a day 1 problem. Not sure what this person is on about, but after the legit issues they have, just feels like now they're just burning it all down.

This is funny, started playing this exactly three days ago. I've had zero issues at all with any part of the game. They hook you up with not only decent amount of cards, but actually some good starts too good decks. Crafting is actually really cool. I haven't played on mobile though so maybe more issues on there. My only complaints are menu navigation can easily be made more streamlined, theme decks being gone does make me sad and ranked rewards are just avatar cosmetics which for me personal i don't care what my avatar looks like at all. I would much rather be rewarded cards, crating material and/or packs.

Most trade offers were bad deals or users flipping useless cards, all good ones are taken in the first 5 mins, won't miss that

PTCGL is great so far but I feel like cards are too expensive or the game just doesn't give you enough credits for crafting.

People forget when a game is released in a global BETA(emphasis on Beta) you expect there to be bugs as it’s still in its testing period. The Pokemon company loves the feedback from players and will be getting lots of it from the game going worldwide. There are bugs such as the battle pass tries not loading and battery being drained on IOS. Among many other bugs. I imagine with all this feedback, Pokemon are trying to update as thoroughly and quickly as possible. People just need to be patient as it only released globally a few days ago. So they have to factor many things such as specific bugs in specific regions, which can be difficult to identify. Conclusion: People need to be patient with the game being improved.

All they need to do is add crafting to TCG Online.

Also Gems are pointless unless it's the only currency you can buy with real money.

Can definitely say from experience that a lot of this information is a straight up lie or completely uninformed. Not trying to be a PTCGL Stan by any means but this article just ain’t accurate.

The only thing is that it has frozen a few times. Other than that it feels much better than PTCGO.

The only issues I experienced were right after it went live, shortly after Live went back into maintenance and after it came back on there was no issues what so ever, everything I transferred over was in game and I got all my codes I redeemed. Everyone complaining tried to jump the gun right away and had issues before the opening maintenance. None of the people can say they are having an issue since then. I feel Live is more stream lined and the deck building is easier. Not seeing your collection isn't THAT big of a deal. Live is a deck building mechanic. You see all of your standard cards are viewable once you go into deck edit which is what the game is meant for you'll see all of your cards. I feel like people are over reacting hard. Live is better in every way, the only thing that could improve is text size and adding bold letter boxes to increase letter or card view size if you click on during deck building. Not trading isn't a big deal either, thank the jobless bums constantly selling the digital cards online and making 1 card cost 40-50 packs. Real world trading ruined in game trading.

I actually wish the game did have microtransactions. That way I could buy shit without having to buy code cards.

This kind of feels like a lot of grumbling and blowing things out of proportion. Are there bugs? Yes, its in Beta. Is the Theme Deck queue gone? Yes, but with them going away it should have been expected. Is there stuff that doesn't transfer over from PTCGO? Yes, but it was fairly clear about most of the things that did and did not. I spent a couple hours prepping my account for transfer and have had no issues. Other than some matchmaking issues, which they have stated are a problem and they are trying to fix them, I have had very few issues. There are definitely things to improve but its also in beta and they are actively improving. MTG Arena was more polished in Beta and has only slid downhill from there so it could definitely be worse. It would have been nice though if they hadn't tried to keep in all in-house.

how is trading in PTCGO a scam? if thats the case then every card store or trade in real life is a scam because LGS will give you half for credit and real life and PTCGO values differ but at least you can post a trade you see fit or a trade on the PUBS, if you go for a bad trade its on you, its like real life, bad trades happen it doesnt make them or it a scam. Losing trading is very bad for a "trading" card game. Right now if you know what to do is save your packs on PTCGO and find trades on the PUBS(public) using sites like tcg park for pokemon you know the value of currency in the game, and you still have that card for trade for other cards

I made the mistake of migrating when the beta was only in Canada. I haven't played the game since that day. The client makes me want to never play the game again. It killed my desire to play

I played the beta with VPN since the beginning, and the game have improved a lot. I don't mean the game is ok and doesn't need to get better, no, I do mean that they are listening to us players. They are working to make this game better every update. With that said, please tpci fix you game! Im tired to have to restart every time I need to enter the BP after a match. I wanna be able to play on mobile, but performance is bad on low end devices, so let us adjust the graphics a little bit, just a tad bit to be able to play. Please, please, please, fix the bugged cards so we can play with them, preferentially before the next set comes out... Edit: by low end I mean 4gb Helio p20 cpu, should be able to play a game like this, but there are too much graphical effects I guess.

World beta release my ar&e. I’m living in Tokyo and still unable to play. I had emailed Pokémon support and was told that it’s only available to play in selected countries. This is really making me unhappy towards this app. I truly believe that if something happens to PTCGO, I might just return to physical cards.

All the comments saying Live is good are just saying it’s good because they can build Lugia and Drago because they get the cards for free. They all sound like bots to be honest.

All the freebies were awesome, but the gameplay was just too terrible to enjoy. Slower than it ever should have been.

Another flaw is that the most useful currency is like impossible to get(crystals) and then they force you to spend 200 of those instantly

I've been testing the beta for 2 days and the experience has been excellent. Both on PC and mobile it worked well, there are some UX points to solve but this is a much better product!

The only way people will play Live over PTCGO is when PTCGO doesnt exist , accept Live is a Downgrade game

I really dislike the trade in ptcgo. Everytime I wanted a card or need just one to finish a deck no one would help me. My only option was to go to ebay and buy the cards I need a seems not far. Now with live I can make any deck I wish. I migrrate my account and I'm happy with my choice. The game is beta stop complaining and just deal with the new change. And for players saying I'm not going to play anymore it won't change the outcome and there will be many new players coming to learn to play.

just played a game on my phone using a premade lugia deck and it was pretty fun i mean im happy its mobile now and i had no issues everything looked good the game shows you the settings pretty well and the currency exchange system is a billion times better than that awful trade system 1 pack for 10 ultra rares people try to rip you off

Feedback will not help. The game is flawed at a basic level. The whole thing needs to be redone or just exited.

I don’t know what game these complainers are even talking about. I’ve played over 1500 games on Live and I’ve encountered bugs maybe 10 times. Lost connection less often than on I used to PTCGO. Crafting, redeeming, and battle pass all work perfectly and are awesome. Gameplay has been smooth and fast for months now. Everyone needs to chill and just get used to the new game before reactively trashing it. It’s actually a big improvement over PTCGO in my opinion
