Except for Quantum Of Solace. That movie has no impact to Skyfall to No Time To Die so basically rewatching it you can watch Casino Royale and skipped to Skyfall. I'm guessing that the new plan is for each new actor to have their own continuity, so swapping actors will be more a hard reboot than the (barely even) soft reboots they've been in the past. I'm looking forward to where they go with the franchise after NTtD.

@@BryanCostner It's definitely less impactful, but I think it was a conscious decision by the Broccolis. I think it was the wrong decision. The fact that it's conspicuously left out of both Skyfall and Spectre, two movies that have points that reminisce on Bond's previous exploits, has always irked me. The only reference to it in this is Greene showing up on a screen once. He should have been in the intro and treated same as Le Chiffre and Silva throughout.

Uh, I get where you're coming from, @@Superstorig, but you might not mind finding out a few facts. The credits end with the familiar message "James Bond Will Return," not 007. Producer Barbara Broccoli has been quoted as promising to keep the character male. Could end one trend. Buzz was that Bond woman Wei-Lin could get her own spinoff film in the 90s, but that never happened. Same with Jinx (Halle Berry) on the millennium switch. Perhaps the third time will be the charm, and Nomi will be in her own film, or perhaps that prospect will evaporate like the others did. Some suggest splitting continuity into two timelines. Have Nomi continue on as the successor in however many films she can sustain. At the same time, reboot the character James Bond once more from scratch.

I feel after the emotional roller coaster that was Skyfall, Spectre honestly felt like a return to…well…Bond. To me, it felt more like a Brosnan or Moore film with its plot and one-liners, (as well as Swann as a love interest to an extent, though she’s way more complex than the many Bond girls of old). And yet, despite that, the emotional aspects that really set the CraigBond movies apart from the rest is still present in this one. It’s focused on James as a person, about his journey and the people he’s lost on his way, and even links back to his childhood, in a similar manner as Skyfall. I think it’s a good blend of emotional CraigBond and flashy/cheesy ClassicBond, and a lot of people didn’t like it because…well…we haven’t gotten a “ClassicBond” flic since Die Another Day (2002) and The World Is Not Enough (1999). Granted, those movies weren’t nearly as well received as many/all the CraigBonds are, but they nonetheless represent the cheesy, suave, cool, (also misogynistic and a bit…touchy…) old Bond’s. Do I want that Bond to return? Not really. I like the more emotionally investing CraigBonds better, and their style is definitely more suitable for a modern audience (I cannot imagine what would happen if they tried to release a movie like You Only Live Twice today). TL;DR: Spectre was a decent blend of emotional CraigBond with flashy ClassicBond, which appealed to older fans of the series but less so to the younger fans who’ve grown up on CR, QoS, and Skyfall, which is why the movie wasn’t as well-received as most of us “Bond-snobs” think it should’ve. I’m looking forward to more Christoph Waltz and Léa Seydoux in No Time to Die!!!

What's inherently wrong about YOLT? If it's trying to turn Bond to japanese-looking, it was straight from the book, and didn't had underlying "yellowface" racist aspect to that (but LALD would be problematic, the book especially). Of course, nowadays it wouldn't made the cut, but there were no racist intentions behind that I believe. And of course overall that YOLT is not meant for modern audience, but I myself enjoy it. On SPECTRE, I agree with you on your arguments, but not in your personal conclusion. I like SPECTRE, also because I kinda missed more of classic and close to the formula Bond (however it's not entirely that). But yeah, probably your point is right that modern audience (non-Bond fans especially) changed their Bond perception based on Craig's earlier films. On NTTD, I've watched it 3 times at cinema already. There are LOTS of Seydoux, you will not be disappointed. Waltz is also great, but his screen time is rather short, despite that he's important to the plot.

@@PUARockstar Yeah, I personally don’t have any problem with YOLT, or LALD for that matter, but I just wanted to point out that in this day and age, they probably wouldn’t even make it to the scripting phase in today’s cinematic environment, just because of the likely backlash the cultural stereotyping would incite, regardless of the lack of racist overtones. Hell, I’m not even sure Tropic Thunder could be made again without significant controversy, and that was a spoof on tone-deaf racial stereotyping that came out less than 15 years ago! Additionally, I just saw NTTD, and I’ve got to say: I’m a bit shook my guy. I’m not going to spoil anything for anyone, but I will say that the…unprecedented…ending led to some…impassioned…reactions from my Bond-loving father.

Christoph Waltz is simultaneously disarmingly charming, genuinely polite, offputtingly creepy, and actually intimidating. Can't think of many actors that can pull that off with such ease. He was perfect for this. I don't care what anyone says about this film, it's one of my favorites from Bond.

I have my issues with the Craig bond movies, specifically the need to tie everything into Bond's tragic backstory. However as someone who's actually read Fleming's books and always wanted to see a "proper adaptation" I got to give Craig credit for delivering. The little character observations you make at 9:30 and 12:00 capture something that was always in the books but never quite made the transition to film before Craig. See also the scene with Vesper on the train in Casino Royal. Skewered indeed. Edit: spelling

A slight comment on the Pale King as a motif(?) for Odin: Two crows accompany him everywhere, Thought and Memory, that fly out and gather information- much like the observation equipment beneath the house in Austria. Furthermore, Odin is always a “pale old man dressed in all grey” whenever he travels through the realms. Just something I felt that goes unnoticed.

One of the great travasities that happened is when never had the chance to see what Alejandro Jodorowsky’s version Dune would have been like because he planned to Have Salivador Dali and Orson Wells in the film and would have had Pink Floyd and Magma do the score and the whole film would have been 10-14 hours long! I love that Bautista has only the one line in the movie, just as he dies. Up until that point hes operating on the sheer menace of casually killing a dude with his thumbs and going toe-to-toe with bond three times. Also before the car crashes into them as they go to face C, bond looks back, noticing that they were redirected. Its a nice touch to show that he noticed and was concerned about it. Shows bond's competence.
