I was really torn on whether to make this song focused on Adrienette or more of a "Post-reveal" theme, so I decided to do both. 😁😏🥰 Then it still wasn't long enough/I had way too many clips, so I decided to make a little epilogue scene and keep it going longer because really, when do you ever stop getting to know someone?
I think one of the best things about any relationship (romantic or otherwise) is learning more about the other person and allowing them to know more about you.
I think we all have a deep desire to be known by somebody - for someone to know every part of what makes you who you are.
But sharing your secrets and thoughts can be scary, and it's hard to be vulnerable when you're not sure how the other person will take it. But that's one of the most wonderful things about love - it keeps holding on no matter what changes it's faced with. (I mean, if you've ever seen a kid clinging to a really beat up but much-loved stuffed animal you know what I mean. 💞😉)
I love Adrien and Marinette's love story for many reasons, but one of the main ones is that it goes so much deeper than mere looks and they genuinely want to know more about each other no matter what identity they're in. They listen to each other, support each other, and take the time to understand what the other person is thinking and feeling and do everything they can to make sure the other person is okay - even if it means giving up some comfort of their own.
(I also love how they're both super committed, and while it may seem a bit extreme given their age, I like that they don't have a causal "Let's see if this works out" attitude, but they truly want the other person to be in their life forever and delight in thoughts of a future with them. I mean in the fulfillment of their "greatest desire" they got married - how cute and beautiful is that? 💖💖)
The problem is, no matter how much we try to get to know others, sometimes it seems like very few people truly know us, and sometimes it's hard to even understand yourself.
It's especially hard if you're not in a relationship with anyone, but in a way it's better, because no relationship, no matter how good and wonderful it is, can ever truly fill that longing to be completely known, and it often hurts people when they try to satisfy that longing in a romantic relationship since it's impossible for the other person to meet that need.
Have you ever felt invisible? Like no one cared about you? Or maybe you know that people do care but can't seem to open yourself up to them? I've been in both places, and I have some really good news: you're not alone, and better than that - you are fully known.
I think part of why I don't open up myself as much to others is because I know there are parts of me that are weird, painful, or even bad, and I want people to only see the good, happy side of me.
But what if there was someone who already knew every secret you have - every ache, every pain, every misdoing, and every bad day you've ever had. Someone who sees how hard you're trying, how much your heart is hurting...someone who loves your smile, embraces your quirks, and enjoys your personality. Someone who wants to be there for you regardless of changes and understands you better than you understand yourself.
That someone is God, and there's a richness and fullness that can only be found through having a personal relationship with him. God can be close to you in a way that no human could and the way we all deeply long for. He cares about every aspect of your life and will be there for you in even in the smallest moments. He sees your heart, and although it's not perfect, he wants it to be his, something to love and treasure for all of eternity, as well as here on earth. Romans 5:8 says, "But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ (Jesus) died for us." We all make mistakes, and we all do bad things, but God loves us anyway.
A relationship goes both ways. God knows all about us, and we get to know more about him.
A lot of you may know that I'm a Christian, but have you ever wondered why? Being a Christian is so much more that following rules - it's getting to know God. It's mind-blowing to think that in the middle of billions of people, the God of the universe cares to listen to me talk about my day. I can tell him all my troubles, bring him all my sorrows, and he gives me peace and joy through all life's changes. The more I learn about God, the more I love him, want to serve him, and be closer to him.
When you realize how precious you are to God, how much he cares about you, delights in you, and strengthens you, and the more you get to know how patient, loving, powerful, kind, and strong he is, Christianity stops becoming a religion and turns into a personal relationship, with a God who knows you and loves you uniquely, individually, and without end. Doesn't that sound like someone you should give your heart to? 💞
