I think my most surprising watch this month was Eyes Without a Face (1960); I'm a horror fan (obviously) so I can't believe I hadn't seen it before, but let's just say I never get nightmares anymore after horror movies but this one gave me a nightmare; people call it a classic for good reason

Can you tell me if they are any scenes with fingernails getting ripped or pulled off? I live the way the movie sounds but I can't handle watching that, so I've avoided it based on the name alone lol

I wish they would make another version of No one Gets Out Alive that is more true to the Adam Nevill book it's based on, which is set in Birmingham, England. The landlords are more horrific than the supernatural beings in the story. Just felt it was more horrifying and gritty, especially from the viewpoint of a vulnerable young female. Would highly recommend checking out the book!

Watching manodrome and salt burn back to back was insane. Idk what this says about me but I freaking loved both of them. Type of movies that will have you thinking abt them for a whole week

I enjoyed the tension in The Royal Hotel. The sense of dread is very intense. I spent six months in a small village in the UK & not all the locals were welcoming !

I am very interested in Fingernail! Your description of it reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Timer. It can be somewhat hard to find but it's so good and, like you said, this kind of thing opens up so much conversation. I love your videos! Thanks for keeping me company while I sew today :)

One movie i watched for the first time last month was Scorcese's The Age Of Innocence... Simply fantastic really, must be the most underated movie i have ever seen, hardly anyone talks about it, i watched it 3 times this month, top 5 Scorcese for me, and top 3 DDL movie.

I watched Nothing Bad Can Happen after watching your video about Disturbing Films and I was blown away. I was left feeling raw and crying so hard with no release. The abuse reached the same level of poor Syliva Likens. Also thank you for showing me Miss Meadows!! That was great.

Good God. We pay to cry and feel horrible? I watch movies to get out of my pain, not feel terrible. I like horror movies that scare me a bit, creep me out, but nothing that brings me nightmares or causes me to hate people or fear the world, nothing that leaves me crying or unable to face reality. What the hell are we doing to ourselves?

I loved Cat Person and found it extremely relatable! Very good perspective on heterosexual dating and relationships and online interactions. So glad you got to watch and I was excited to see you talk about it!

I agree re Goosebumps. I'll prob watch S2 but the ending kinda put me off it a little. Otherwise it was a pretty good series. Nice to see the Aussie selection you watched! But speaking of Australian content, not sure if you already know but there is a new streaming service (free) called Brollie and there's a horror category with some decent movies from around the world. There's also a small section of Australian horror (in the "Brollie Film Club > Australian Nightmares" section) with a handful of 70s/80s Australian horror movies and a couple of more recent ones too. Hopefully they will add more over time, but there's a couple I haven't heard of in there so I'll be watching them soon.

It's funny - when you described how you thought Killers of the Flower Moon would be about an FBI case and got a big surprise - that's exactly what I thought Silence of the Lambs was (well, 'a lawyer movie') when I went to see it at 16 years old in the theater. Hello trauma! Lol.

Wow I just finished Nothing Bad Can Happen after hearing your thoughts, and holy moly. It reminded me SO MUCH of Speak No Evil. Aside from the themes on religion they're two VERY similarly structured films about how far we will let people push our boundaries in the name of keeping the peace. Very disturbing!

I watched Fingernails. I thought what the main character did to her boyfriend at the end was cruel. I agree regardlng No One Gets Alive. Saltburn was very good and compelling until the last act. Easily the best things I've watched this year are The Fall of the House of and The Sound of Freedom.

I found Royal Hotel interesting, I thought it would go to extremes but it just didn't. It reminded me of Australian exploitation films from the late 70's and early 80's. it was leading to a darker ending that just didn't happen.

Unfortunately, the crime in Nothing Bad Can Happen happened exactly the same way. In almost every detail :( Only the religious aspect was added. However, the director said in an interview that she later learned that Thies, that was his name, was actually very religious. It happened in Grebenstein not far away from where i live

@@spookyastronauts I’m afraid to say it was absolutely way too cerebral for me. When I have to googs the explanation of a movie, I’m out. Loved all the actors. Just needed to be dumbed down for me.
