Obviously Roy is a far better boxer than Jake could ever be if he was given 50 years to train. But he had no power and never pressed Tyson to really use energy. I just find this sad. Tyson is a legend and he is fighting a juiced up hack with a good overhand.

You also have to remember the Mike vs Roy fight was an exhibition, Mike and Roy respect each other as a human beings, they definitely weren't out to see each other's legacies be tarnished. Mike said he wasn't out for blood but would not hold back his power. Mike wanted to test Roy's skills and to see how clean they could box,dodge, and counter and they both did just that. Neither was out for blood because why in an exhibition? Exhibition means you show your skills and create a proper skills contest and a show for the crowd.... they are not intended to train like its a Championship fight, or to try and brutalize your opponent. You box CLEAN not dirty and if a knockout happens that's fine because it's a REAL FIGHT but you do not enter an exhibition with the attitude of trying to kill your opponent... instead you showcase your skills and try to win rounds, turn it into a grueling contest of slick movements and flashy moves NOT intended to crush your opponent, but to simply out box them. This is a Boxing Exhibition.

GOAT, please, record a video with pov gopro on (head or chest) and please break down the first person POV you have of the void. When you break down distance and footwork its easy to see when you are in spectator mode but when you are in real time it feels much different. The void collapses fast + people who are on the edge of the void, how to close void with footwork and headmovement to ''force them to fight'. Appreciate the content as always.

Mike is the absolute greatest. How are we still discussing him with such great enthusiasm in 2024. I'm 39 years old and in my day Mike's mystic and appeal was only matched by his name sake Micheal Jackson not even Jordan. Tyson and Jackson were known in deep rural villages in Africa and South East Asia. They were two of the most recognisable personalities in the entirety of the world.

Personally I would love to see a breakdown of Mike Tyson's reactiontime through counting frames on his recent fights. Mike was always god tier at manoeuvring when the opponent punches, seemingly dodging inwards so he could abuse his shorter posture for leverage. I wonder if he still has that kind of speed. My dad still had a reactiontime of 145ms at 70, so I'm sure it's possible he's still fast enough, but I would love to see this confirmed.
@fredrikandersson3885
@fredrikandersson3885 26 күн бұрын
I would say mikes reaction time is still the same, and the strength is still there. At that age it’s quick mobility together with balance that faulters, accompanied with less endurance and far less stamina during max pulse AND overall lower max pulse. The body ages there is nothing getting around that. Mike has a punchers chance but the longer the fight goes on the more it favors Jake.
@caroline7648
@caroline7648 25 күн бұрын
Its not about reaction time, these pro boxers don't react to punches in the same way you react to a screen turning green and pressing a button, yes its a bit like that but a pro boxer is able to read when the other will attack. It's really about the reading and about the intuition that matters.
@Mo6No6No6Ke
@Mo6No6No6Ke 18 күн бұрын
@@caroline7648 Yeah it's like this in every sport and even video games, being fast helps but with good reads you can pre-hit and pre-dodge, in fact countering even an opponent faster than you but less experienced.
@therainman7777
@therainman7777 15 күн бұрын
His reaction time might still be the same, but reaction time is only the first step in successfully avoiding a punch. You clock the punch (reaction time), but then your muscles still need to possess the speed to successfully get you out of the way extremely quickly. Mike is clearly not as fast in this latter sense as he was as a young man. This was extremely clear in the Roy Jones fight and obviously at 50 some years old that’s totally expected. So as much as I love Mike Tyson, I just don’t think we’re going to see the kind of performance we’re hoping for against Jake Paul.
@Mo6No6No6Ke
@Mo6No6No6Ke 15 күн бұрын
@@therainman7777 yeah but he still has far superior technique, and while of course he cannot be as fast muscularly speaking, he seems to still be damn fast for his age so he 100% is able to beat Paul in my opinion

A significant change from young mike to recent years mike is how much he is able to bend his knees. Mikes original peekaboo style relied on a pretty narrow stance but deep knee bending continuously, bobbing up and down not only whilst stationary but also travelling across the ring explosively. In the rjj fight , mikes stance was already wider and static. In recent training videos it looks even more so. Prime mikes ability to get down low , bob and travel is probably his best tool. If he manages to hurt jake even while not having that , and being way more unstable on feet in general. It would show the incredible difference of levels !

I think mike will pace himself through feints while jake tries to run, jake is gonna do what he has in all his other fights and fully commit to every punch without feinting or proper set up, i think this is mikes big opening despite jake juicing up so hard. mike will leverage this through counter striking, and hes gonna deliver some shots with bad intentions thats gonna rattle jake (potentially more emotionally than physically) and jakes gonna find out for the first time in his life what abject cruelty violence is.

Roy and Mike had both had long pro careers with lots of fights and very few that had the kind of restrictive rules of this exhibition. Once they swapped a few punches, muscle memory from two old pros kind of took over. They were both very cool about it and both clearly showed a lot of respect to the other. Mike could have KOed Roy for sure, and definitely wasn't trying to do that.

Imo Tyson looks completely different now than did for the Roy Jones fight and it's not just his training it's his whole demeanor. He look like he might be channeling some Gods of War shit that he talks about.

Demetrious..brake down Lomachenko vs Kambosos. You're the mma goat!! I enjoy all of your fights
@420Pugilist
@420Pugilist 25 күн бұрын
Not hard to break that one down. Kambosis just did what he always does... steps into opponents range with hands down, minimal head movement & just allows his face to get punched repeatedly with no attempt to defend. He fights like a real life Rocky Balboa.

@@godhimself9698 yeah, I hear ya. It actually would be great to see a good breakdown of Lomachenko from Demetrius... but not of just the Kambo fight, just his whole style in general with examples from multiple fights. There's plenty out there from specifically boxing analysts but from the perspective of an MMA fighter would be interesting for sure as Loma is a once in a lifetime talent.

His damage output capability should obviously remain at very dangerous levels. What's in question is his ability to take shots in return. Which has nothing to do with ability, just his advanced age and all the extra biological variables getting older introduces.

I liked that you you asked it 00:31 "Will his brain be able to take it and will his chin last?" I am so curious about that too with age and him having been a former alcoholic (and the brain shrinkage that would come of it). I have so many questions and I guess I'll have to wait for him to get into the ring w/ Jake. I hope he K.O.'s Jake!

We also have to remember that Tyson and Jones are legends who respect each other. Tyson probably isn’t worried about hurting Jake.

I feel like in the tyson vs jones jr fight there was so much respect and def a gentlemans agreement not to try to kill each other! People also forget how good roy was and still is! Yeah he has lost alot of the speed and pop but the technique is still there 4 sure!

I always felt Tyson was his most dangerous when his slips were exaggerated by the torso. Meaning his left/right slips were not just head movement, but also torso lean. His vertical movement included getting very low. When I think about the Lennox fight it seemed like Tyson mostly slipped with the head and almost no torso lean. I hope this JP fight is not a gimmick and he crushes JP in a few rounds.
