According to Kevin James, Sara was dropped because the producers couldn't think of a storyline for her. I thought that was a very strange reason, you can always come up with storylines for secondary characters. Sara could have just popped up from time to time, like Doug's parents.

What was stupid about the show is Arthur had so much freedom, especially in the end when he was allowed to remarry stupid writing, but they took it up to Hollywood. There is dumb as box rocks and union strike I could care less.
