Yup, this is one where throwing good money after bad would be way too easy. Instead, do the windshield and put it back through hoping to at least break even. Sure, he could part it out but that's a long process (and a space commitment in the meantime).

@@purpledoge4466 Sweet, good job. I've bought and fixed a couple for myself but not to sell. We tend to get crap up where I am and the decent ones just end up as winter beaters for the most part.

Replace the light, the fender, the mirror, and the windshield. See if you can adjust the back bumper some to better the tire clearance but don't spend much time or money on it. Clean it up and send it to Weird Beard's.

Please take your emotions out the equation and remember that you are running a business. Consentrate on making the car safe prior to the resale. In my opinion you should just fix the winshield, front passenger fender, side mirror and headlights n the pair of inner fender linings. If you focus on all the cosmetic stuff it maybe entertaining but not smart.
@KylePetersonDmaster223
@KylePetersonDmaster223 5 жыл бұрын
But emotion plays a part in running a business. He wants to have a reputable business that has cars that are safe and reliable, not just a money making scheme that will leave people on edge.
@johnulrich5572
@johnulrich5572 5 жыл бұрын
Amen to that. Don't part it out. Just fix it up and sell it without being obsessive about it.
@scorpionzodiac731
@scorpionzodiac731 5 жыл бұрын
Dear @@KylePetersonDmaster223 Please notice in my comment that I stated to make the car safe. I think you have the emotion thing all wrong, no one can justify spending their profit based on emotion. Let's just say you can't win them all, I will agree if he was keeping the car. Let the new owner fix it to their liking. They may end up changing everything his OCD made him do. I'll say lets remain rational about this.

Keep the parts price low: search local yards, craigslist, fb marketplace, z forums, etc. for the parts you need first. Put an ad on if nobody has them up. I've had luck this way, maybe you will too. IMO the carbon fiber hood would look cool, but too big of a spend. Take your time; patience might yield a big savings. This car will pull max $$$ around tax time, so if the holding cost isn't too high, consider that option.

I'm glad you shared this with us! You could just boge it and keep the Rear Quarter Panel a secret, but you told us and the future buyer the truth! Really appreciate it! *Man, I would fix it up with a new bumper, mirror, fender, headlight, inner liner and repair the hood if that's possible!* An (OEM) Rear Quarter Panel will be around $800. Then you have to drill al the spot welds out and weld the new one in place + repainting. You are easily talking for around $1700 - $2400 at a body shop only on that quarter panel repair! If you REALLY wanna replace it, then I would just spend big cash and repainted the whole car. _But, what I would recommend is fixing the front with the cheapest (secondhand) parts you can get (not color matched) and paint everything yourself!_ Would be great content and then we are getting some proper rebuild footage! Also that way you can learn a bit how to painted body panels! A well-needed skill for flipping damaged cars!

The reason why you have been successful with your videos is that you’re one of the very little you tubers that talks about how much they purchased the car for and how much money they made and so on. I go to a local car auction and have bought many cars from auction. I’m not a dealer or flipper I just really enjoy buying a used car fixing it and driving around in a different car.

You are worrying about this car too much. In the DFW area it would be a $3500 car. Don't worry about splash shields or fender liners. Replace the windshield, fender, maybe the bumper, headlight, and call it a day. Someone may be able to fix the hood. Do as little as possible to make it sell. People buying a cheap 350z know what they are getting.
