Rocky Horror Picture Show is the true definition of a cult classic. Beloved by many, bewildering to others, but an undeniable classic. As with all movies, it has sins.
Thursday: Not loud sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

@@chefmagneto What we've heard is that it's because people stopped watching after the credits so they separated them. But that can't be because you have an extra step to go through now to get to them. So the actual reason is likely to get extra views on another video.

and watching it with a shadow cast, or with a large audience is a completely different expereience than the movie by itself. the audience brings props to watch a movie. and the audience is singing, dancing and shouting callouts. it's literally the best
@Riftsrunner

@@bbbb95476 True. It's the props and audience shenanigans that make this movie a cult classic. The problem I was having was I have been Pavlov'd by my weekly sojourns that I was literally doing callouts and CinSins was jumping past the payoffs. ☹😂🤣 (for example, everytime a person's name was used, there is a moniker you are supposed to yell out. Brad=Asshole, Janet=Slut or sometime "you're a slut", Rocky=Frankinstein grunt. To name a few). And it is very regional in that certain areas of the country use different scripts to do their callouts.

The reason Tim Curry is so good in this role, is because he played Frank N' Furter on stage for 2 years before they filmed it. Rocky Horror was a very popular stage play before it became a film. Tim probably did the show hundreds of times.

That makes sense, I thought that the reason they were there was to spy on Brad and Janet, to see if they were the type of couple that frank was looking for. I have a theory that it was no accident that they went the wrong way down the road to Frank's castle and ran into a dead end therefore having to back up on a road that they just went down, resulting in a flat tier ( one way spike strips) 🤔

The fact that Eddie came out of the freezer with a noticeable head scar, didn't really seem to notice what was happening around him and the common Frankenstein plot being that the Creature needs a brain clued me in before they dropped the line that both Rocky and Eddie share a brain. The way I've always interpreted it is that rocky actually got the logical side of Eddie's brain, leaving the creative side with Eddie. Furter mentions splitting the brain between them and their actions make sense given this. Rocky wakes up afraid and confused and waxes poetic about a feeling of encroaching doom while Eddie wakes up horny and nostalgic, incapable of registering the danger hes in until it's literally bearing down on him.

Well, here's my attempt to explain it: it's a cautionary tale about romance. Brad and Janet are an example of romance that's all love and no passion. Dr. Frank N' Furter is an example of romance that's all passion and no love, explaining why he's always ditching his current crushes and moves on to the next thing. Perhaps Frank N' Furter was a gifted scientist on his home planet but, like Jack Skellington, grew tired of the 'same old thing' and wanted to experience new things (sexual and non-sexual) so he took Riff Raff and Magenta with him to travel and experiment, but he grew too passionate and attached on Earth to the point where Riff Raff and Magenta decided Frank was a liability and danger to others so they had to 'cut the experiment short.' Brad and Janet, though emotionally scarred, see how weak their passionless love was and how horrific Frank's loveless passion was and most-likely learned to balance the two for a true and healthy romance. How's that for explaining? XD

This actually came out in 1975, not the 1980's. It got me a girlfriend at one of the late 1970's midnight shows (and simultaneously attending - no crap - a "Sociology of Deviance" class in college), and eventually, she became my wife to this day. And there is absolutely no "buyer's remorse". I got lucky 40 years ago! I'll stipulate that she may have been less lucky, but she still puts up with me!

I never saw Rocky Horror in NYC at 8th St. Playhouse or Waverly, but I saw it plenty of times here in L.I. NY and the shout-back stuff would have me dying. For example, the Bride's Bouquet bit is supposed to be Brad: "The way you beat the other girls (WITH WHIPS AND CHAINS!)......to the bride's bouquet (AND THAT TOO). " Also Brad: "An hour ago she was Ms. Betty bla bla bla but now she's (MISS BETTY DIPSHIT!)." Having sat through that numerous times I can't even watch Rocky Horror straight!
