The most frustrating thing about this movie is that haddonsfield treats Michael like this existential threat to the community even though Michael had only killed three people that one time 40 years ago and had been In prison docile since. Did the people of haddonsfield watch the sequels? Their existential terror would have made more sense if Michael was this invincible serial killer that kept on fomenting haddonsfield and the Midwest for decades killing countless people There is no way people would have acted this manic in any other context

Yeah I was wondering this too, that and Tommy and Lindsey hardly even saw Michael in the original and he never hurt them. Though this is also the place where no one questions why a psychiatrist demonised a six year old kid with severe mental illness, so I'm not surprised!

Agreed. There was a way to do this. They could have made this event like 9-11. The people of Haddonsfield could have always been afraid that Mike was coming back which could have made them insular and violent, and then boom, here he is. The last was an exploration of one individual's PTSD, the same could have happened here but with the town. That ONE TIME they all acted with dumb mob mentality, they almost immediately shrugged and said "whatever" and moved on.

wasn’t the 2018 movie about how nobody really cared anymore that “a couple of people got stabbed in 1978”, and how Laurie was so seemingly paranoid that it burdened the lives of her family? now suddenly EVERYONE in the town remembers that night and has been haunted by Michael Myers for 40 years? they were written by the same people, how can these movies be so contradictory?

The only person I remember from the original (other than Michael and Laurie) was Dr Loomis. I found it bizarre that the town suddenly cared but even more bizarre that I was supposed to remember the supporting cast of a 1978 slasher.

Donald Pleasence drank everyday he was on set for the 1978 original. Jamie Lee Curtis could’ve used her parents’ names to get into any film but she wanted to work her way up. She was very well liked on set and everyone was impressed how great of an actress she was. The budget for the 1978 original was $300k.

Laurie’s incapacitated for most of the movie? It takes place in a Hospital? Are we sure this isn’t Halloween II? I suppose technically it is because of the last movie. But it’s also kinda Halloween III, which you could say H20, Halloween 4 and Halloween III Season of the Witch also were. God, this franchise has a more f*cked timeline than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

One of my dear friends watched this movie and loved it. I haven't had the heart yet to tell him that I thought it basically ruins everything that made this franchise unique, or did, in the first couple movies. It's now a mindless murder franchise very much like Friday the 13th, a franchise he hates because "it's just about the kills"
