For anyone who’s wondering, it’s not AI generated. It’s a project of an Italian UX designer (and content creator) called Breccia. There’s his video on his KZfaq channel in which he explains the reasons of his solutions (even though it’s in Italian).

I think that in this fan design (because that is what it is) you can slide your joy con into different positions. That is why the gray one is has the space or slot on a different side. You can actually tell there is a space there.

The reason for the gray controller to be different from the blue one is that the centrepiece of the controller would be able to slide so that when you use a single joy con, it’s not off-centred.

It's also worth mentioning the "logo" for this is just defeating the entire purpose of why it was the way it was. I shouldn't even explain due to how iconic and understandable it is to even someone with half a brain cell

He forgot the biggest reason: Nintendo would NEVER call their Next Gen system the "Nintendo Switch 2". It will probably be something else, but still Switch related. Some have theorized it could be called the "Super Nintendo Switch", but then again, seeing how bad the WiiU debacle was, they would probably think twice about putting their previous gen console's name on their Next Gen system. Hell, the Switch itself was known as "Codename: NX" WAY before it was called the "Nintendo Switch"

the guy who made the models said everything. the controlers are made to be more ergonomic when using horizontally. when attached, the controller part slides up, and when removed, it slides down so that when held horizontally, the way you hold the controller is more symmetrical.

I think the Joy-Cons are meant to slide for a more comfortable grip when playing multiplayer with a single set.

In this concept, the joycons can be moved up and down when detaches so they’re gonna both be “central” when playing with 1 joycon. Joycons right now are different if you use the right or left one in 1 joycon horizontal mode, but with this solution both are gonna be the same. When attached, in the concept, joycons automatically go “up” so that’s why in this picture the detached one has space “up” and the attached one has space “down”. It’s a very cool concept and I hope Nintendo does something similar. All of this was made by an Italian designer and youtuber called breccia, and there’s a video of him explaining (in Italian) all of his design choices.

I think the best thing Nintendo could do is to create a home console that is up to date with modern graphics on the ps5 and xbox series.

some of the things you mentioned were done on purpose like the joysticks have black space on them or how there are 2 versions of switches (one costs more) however the desing was done by an italian designer called breccia posted a videos about it

I think the idea with the blank space at the top and bottom is that you can slide the controls up and down to be more comfortable based on your hand size and playstyle.

About the Joy con, the Joy con in this model can move the joystick and d-pad up and down

If you look closely you'll see that joy cons that are hooked up to the console have the space down, but if they're out they have the space up, look at the right grey joy con

The joy-con is different because in this design you can change the bottom position when you play with one joy-con, so when you play with a friend you have the same controller

It is said that you will be able to elevate the buttons of the joy con creating a black space. Casually for horizontal joy con use.

The gaps could be a system where the section with the stock and buttons could be adjusted to the top or bottom to fit different sized hands

The black space could make it so the buttons can lock in tow positions closer to the top so if you use only one controller it doesn’t feel uncomfortable.

There is a trailer for it, and when you put the joy con on the joy, con moves up and fills in the black space, but makes another black space of the bottom

theres also the fact that the joycons on the original switch are rounded on one side and squared on the other to give it a smoother look when playing handheld, this one is rounded on all sides making it looks terrible in handheld

I think the black bar is meant to be a channel that you can slide the rectangle that houses the controls up or down depending on your hands and what you want. I think that’s a cool idea even if the whole thing is fake

If we do ever get some "Switch 2" or "Switch pro" I hope they do give backwards compatibility for their older games, cuz playing Zelda TOTK at full 1080p with no stuttering at 60fps would be great. Cuz a full on PC set up that can emulate that game at that resolution would be lots, compared to maybe nintendo using the Tegra Orin for a new SOC, and 16GB of system memory possibly. It would most likely be 399, cuz there should be a high power model with the full 2048 cuda cores clocked at 800Mhz, and an 8 core CPU at 2Ghz (with 128bit memory I guess) Then just a half power model with the same cpu, half the system memory, and half the cuda cores. Plus ray tracing would be cool for a mobile next gen nintendo switch.

The joycon black space actually moves depending on if it is attached to the console or not. The middle part of the joycon apartment my slides according to animations I’ve seen.

the joycon consistency issue is actually on purpose. they designed a trailer that shows that the connected joycon has the black space on the bottom and vice versa
