I think your mental health plays a huge part in sleep and overall well being. I used to sleep 6 hours and didn't feel tired but now that I'm depressed I've been sleeping a lot more usually 9 or 10 hours and I still don't have the energy that I did. Once the mind goes, the body follows

I had a dream where the story would happen, then I woke up. But I didn't wake up I just thought I had, and then had a lucid dream. This happened 4 or 5 times within the same dream so that when I finally did wake up for real, I didn't believe it and had to do things like read a news paper and check the clock often until I was convinced it was real. Was the freakiest experience I've had while sleeping where you doubt the real world when you wake up

I've had pretty severe insomnia since I was a toddler. I thought everyone laid awake most of the night like me, I didn't know until I was 13 that it was abnormal. It took years to get treated for it, doctors always told me the same thing: "Drink warm milk", "take Benadryl if you can't sleep sometimes", "take melatonin", etc. None of those things ever really worked for me. I finally got medicated at 17 years old and found out what it's like to be fully rested for the first time in my life.

There is nothing that states sleeping 6 hours makes you live longer, aside from sources misquoting studies. The studies referenced simply show that that people who slept around 6 hours per day tended to live longer. Much of the confusion comes from the fact that little other information is presented with regard to these people's lifestyles. I would imagine at the ends of the spectrum people who sleep 4 hours or less, or more than 8 probably live less balanced lives than those sleeping for around 6, and make choices that result in a shorter lifespan due to various ailments acquired over the course of their lives.

This is so great to see a scientific opinion on lucid dreaming! I lucidly dream. It came to me 4 years ago. It is indeed true that it takes practice and one gets better at it with practice. At now I usually just know offf the bat if I’m dreaming or not. If I’m unsure for a bit (so a really realistic, thick, quality dream) all I have to do is become aware of the question, ” am I dreaming?” That always snaps me INTO it if I am.

I'm a chronic insomniac. I literally wake up after 2-3 hours of sleep, then sleep after 30 minutes or an hour. Most times I get 3-4 hours of sleep, in total. 😅 The Infographics Show helps me tire my brain (not literally🤔). How? I leave their hour long episodes playing, without watching it. For some reason, if the soothing sounds on sleep apps goes to a point their annoying 😫(which I can't understand why), listening to more information whether it be a video or an audiobook helps me a bit, to get back to sleep. Having a clock near you is definitely a no no. Imho, seeking help from friends and family who truly understand your situation is the best support you can get. Just sharing. Hope it also helps. And thank you The Infographics Show! I love your content! Looking forward to more of your videos! ☺️😇

I suffered from a massive insomnia for the first forty years of my life. I would average between 0 & 4 hours of sleep per night. Also, I and my three daughters all sleep with our eyes open. I didn't start sleeping semi normally until about 10 months after my 41st birthday, that's when I was struck by a Ford F-150 going 45 miles an hour , I was a pedestrian. So, when I say I was struck, I mean I was struck, not the vehicle I was in, (didn't break one bone!). Now I don't sleep normally, but I can actually sleep for long periods of time. Albeit, I get up often for the first 6 to 8 hours but if left to my own devices I can continue to sleep for another eight or more hours and wake up feeling refreshed. And if any of you are wondering that I get any money from my accident, the answer is no, Thanks Dan!!!

I always watch the Infographics Show at night to help me doze off. Our narrator’s voice just is so soothing lol. So it’s ironic that I woke up mid-sleep and saw this video playing. Thanks for trying to change my sleeping habits to something more effective, but I think I’ll stick to sleeping with earbuds in and the Infographics Show playing videos on repeat.

My method for telling if I am asleep or not is to jump straight up. If I can stay there, I know I'm sleeping. It worked even when I was positive I was NOT asleep. A friend in a dream told me I was dreaming and I refused to believe it. Finally I did the dream test and was amazed to find I was, indeed, asleep and dreaming. So I folded my legs under me and floated off to do stuff.

Hahahaa yes!! That's amazing that you were positive that you weren't asleep.. (but were) My trick you should try is to count your finger.. hold your hands out in front of you... There should be six or seven on at least one hand.. (maybe 4) then you can float off and go do stuff

Whenever I have a dream where myself and/or others are being chased, I end up doing parkour & climbing up to the highest point. At some point, I think to myself "I've done this before in another dream". For some reason, it's ALWAYS in a sort of grocery store. The latest time this happened was when me and some guys were being chased by a sort of demon that would chase us until it touched one of us. If we got touched, we were considered dead and everyone else was safe until the next hunt. At one point, I was climbing shelves and that was when I had that feeling of deja Vu before remembering all the other dreams similar to the current one but the memories would never play out. It's like remembering a code to something and when you need the code, it quickly flashes in your mind. Idk, it's just weird how it ALWAYS happens whenever I have a dream about running & hiding.

I want to thank the infographic show for the sleeping episode today, second time in the month where I've gotten up late and my son hasn't gotten to school my wife works till midnight 4 days out of the week and because she needs rides and gets rides from coworkers I would like to wait until she gets in, therefore when my son needed to get to school by 7:45 which is a very oddball time for a kid to go to school especially if you first grade, I should be going to bed a little earlier I've learned a lot of tips and I think this guy for that cuz I can get a lot of trouble these are really great pointers I'm going to try some tonight thank you I really appreciate this infographics. I also worked from the time I was 20 to 27 overnights and it takes a long time to get back on a different clock,

Lucid dreaming is something I tried tracking down a way of doing it but when I got it in a way it seem to be like deaths design it wanted to change the system. Then I ended up battling in different dreamcapes. Reality checks didn't help at time too. Waking up in dreams after dream after dreams. Dreaming and hearing the music that I left on and woke up to that song. It just kept switch up.

I was prescribed Remeron for sleep and depression while I was in detox/rehab and I had a period where every time I'd go to sleep I was either lucid dreaming or having dreams where I was somewhat aware I was dreaming but couldn't really control the dream. There was one dream where I told a sibling in my dream "I'm dreaming right now". There was also one dream where I couldn't breathe well and I kept telling myself "wake up wake up you can't breathe", it was a bit scary, but I eventually "woke up" but soon realized I was still dreaming just the entire dream had changed to something else. It doesn't happen as often as it is to and honestly I don't know if I want it to happen again lol

@Kickin' Wing Hotboi there have been several times while I was sleeping that I had woken up gasping for air...what was crazy was that in my dreams there was something causing my airway to be constricted (never the same way more than once)...1 time I had passed out in my Grandmother's bathroom and she was giving me CPR as she was yelling for someone to call 911, she then went in ambulance with me (sidenote: my Grandmother had passed away 25 years ago)..another time I seemed to be trying to find my way out of some random room that just kept getting smaller, then the walls were literally closing in on me, suffocating me, etc...but every single time when I actually woke up (again gasping for air just like in my dreams), I found that in reality there was something that was restricting my breathing...either I had my head face down on a pillow, or I had my head "cuddled" too tight to my husband's chest... it's as if my dreams were warning me...forcing me to wake up...I truly believe that if I didn't have those dreams where I couldn't breathe, which had me so scared while dreaming that it forced me awake and confused as to why I was holding my throat/chest gasping for air, that I would've actually died in my sleep.
