Ok you win - I have just changed my travel plans to include 3 night s in Sister in August! We plan to bring our bikes and do the Crooked River Canyon Scenic Byway

Sisters is north of Bend. Brothers is south, well sorta.

If you visit, Be sure to go say hello the Sherri at the Thrift store by BI-Mart... she is the best!!!!!!!!!!!! Too bad the town is getting yuppified but we deal with them easily. oh, Don't eat at Ski-Inn...trust me.

Sisters has been ruined by development. It used to be a quaint little old west town. And if you think its all nice, there is some shady stuff on the south side of town. I remember central oregon in the 70s and 80s...it was great. True rustic. Now its becoming wanabe shi shi garbage. The whole central area of hwy 97 is ruined. Golf courses and seed farms ( for export ) are sucking the deschutes river dry. They completely drained Wikiup lake ( world renound kokanee fishing and wildlife area ) and at the rate its going - crane prarie will be next. If you go there to suck up the ambience...too late. That went away 25 years ago.
