Man, thanks a lot for your videos regarding EVH 5150 Iconic. I recently bought it and I freaking love it! It's such a good amp! Keep up man! I love Green and Red channel a lot. One thing I miss is ability to switch to clean channel in the footswitch so I won't have to decide if I want to use green for cleans or rhythm.

Glad you're keeping it! It's a fantastic value, love the gain texture and versatility of the Iconic. I need to get one of these and a solid 212 cab. Then I'd most likely put up some NAM captures of it lol. There's no good emulations of the Iconic out yet As always great vid man.

Don't sell it it sounds awesome , people are just bashing this amp because they compare it to the stealth which was design to have more low end , you should make a tonex package with all 3 channels...thanks for content 👍

Sounds pretty good. I think it would sound better with the distortion dialed back and playing more EVH style riffs. For your style I think you made it work.

I absolutely love my Iconic combo. I have the EL34 5150 50 watt and I actually prefer the Iconic better tone wise and just how much clarity it has. Only thing I wasn’t crazy about was the amp sim out, but even then I just use the two notes capture. Sound wise running it through the two notes it’s actually pretty close to what my rig sounds like on stage.

Great video. It’s great that there are good tube amps out there in the below $1000 range. 16 y/o me would have been ecstatic to have had access to an amp like that. In the ‘90s I really wanted a Peavey 5150 but my family just couldn’t afford it. Thanks for show casing quality affordable gear. Keep up the great work.

i like the amp. i see people do it so i can’t take credit for it but you should do the “og 5150” mod to the amp. the 5150 logo is held on by two screws. its easy to unscrew them and put the badge behind the grill and use the same screws to now install it he logo behind the grill looking like the og 5150 logo how it was behind the grill not in front of it. i did it to mine and it definitely looks better. :)

I would suggest testing the you really should try it man! As well as looking forward to my review. Now let's get back to the 5150 Iconic. Just hold it without a second thought! Amazing! It just blew my home studio monitors and it was a pleasure to watch your happy face! Priceless :D Keep going!

Its s great amp had over a year the green channel chugs for my playing style blues metal rock the red d😂🎸🎶👍🍻does what it should as well with a 4x12 i have a blast man.

Now listen here son… I say keep that EVH Iconic 🤘🔥🤘 Sounds killer 👍 picked one up a few weeks back and really liking it with an OD808 clean boost followed by a 10 band EQ to spike up the mids a bit more. Love this amp … didn’t think I would like it this much. Cheers 🍻

Yeah the Iconic is a keeper! I've got a few more expensive high gain amps... not as much as you but I reckon it sounds better than the rest of my amps funny enough... I don't think there's many people today that would say the Iconic isn't a great high gain amp.

You want to blow your mind !? Run your iconic how ever you set it up and then take the line out, effects loop not D.I and run that into the front of the 6534 plus and trip out on how it sounds just life Eddie's Marshall. Don't crank the gain high on either amps, just enough TY get it to bite an bloom. Trip out !

Run this through a real EVH cab or Marshall cab with V30's- TOTALLY different amp!! They're selling these heads brand new @ The Tone Shop in TX for a super low price!! They have 4-5 left in stock. This amp gets more chewey tones than my EVH Stealth, sorry=, but it's true. The Stealth sounds killer, 5150 more than holds its own when A-B-ed.. The Iconic 412 is harsh and ice-picky sounding- go through Creamback or Greenback- AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!

The Iconic is a fantastic amplifier. Definitely one of the best bang for your buck out there IMHO. That being said, it doesn’t rank up there in tone with the rest of the amps on your shelves. So sadly it is a Sell It for me to make room for something better. Not hating on the Iconic , just my personal opinion. Great video 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

I think the sentiment 'it's better than it should be for the price' is spot on. It's super strong on mids and top end, as well as a great gain structure. If I were to pick on anything at all it would be it doesn't seem to like lower tunings, low fat strings tend to muddy up- there's less note separation and attack (something something transient response) on fast single notes on the lower strings. Could probably sort it out with a screamer, which means for the price it's a bit of a steal. When I first heard it I liked it, didn't love it, but then saw the price and all was forgiven! Thanks for the no BS assessment mate!

Hello, I also remember, especially a bald guy who said horrible things about him. Well, let it be ointment, I bought the 40w combo because I find 80w very excessive, the fact is that it is a good amplifier with a good sound, both clean and distorted, but the only weakness is how the reverb is regulated, which is a reverb pedal cannot solve it. very well built since the valves are arranged upwards like a head and in a separate compartment, protected from the extreme vibrations of the speaker, many manufacturers would have to take note of this great design because the heat goes upwards and in many combos they burn the valve sockets, 90% of the breakdowns of a combo,

This drama only exists on KZfaq and Facebook. It’s a great bargain and I’ve seen a few actual musicians with large stage credentials playing them.

The only drama with the amp was a certain KZfaqr, who was so up his own Ass with his room of amps that he didn't even try. To me though, I'd definitely buy the amp if i didn't already have a 6505

Yep. Even on high gain settings; it would only hum if you're less than 2ft from the amp.

Nice Louis Torres impression! 😆 I wanted to hate the Iconic, because it was made in China. But it does sound good, when used with the right speaker cab. The matching Iconic cab SUCKS. Also: V30's are not the best speaker for the Iconic. That LT dude is a narcissist. He said the Iconic can't CHUG. But clearly it can. I am still waiting to see the inside of the Iconic. I want to see how it is built. No inside pics/video yet, that I know of. Iconic ships with crappy tubes, but it's hard to get good tubes now. I would love to see the USA start manufacturing tubes again. New RCA or Sylvania. The Japanese could make awesome tubes too. The problem with making tubes is: it's an environmental hazard. Which is why only China and Russia makes tubes in the modern world. It's outdated technology. I think digital has finally caught-up with tubes. You see recently that John Mayer is using a Fractal FM9 on stage? Megadeth was using QC's on tour. Lots of artists use Kemper. "The Trooch" uses AxeFX-III with his JP-2c's. But if he wanted... he could ditch those JP-2c's. Now we have an affordable solution: TONE-X. A Tone-X plus a Line6 HX Effects, and you got it all. Simple rig. Use a SS rack power amp, and a 4x12 cab, and you are ready for the stage. Having said all that... the Iconic is only $1k, and I heard they are NOT made in China anymore. If that's the case, Iconic would be a decent value.

Thank God you are selling the badlander. That amp is a fire Hazzard and a detriment to society. The iconic is the best tube amp made. Period. Nobody can dispute that fact.

There is no 'magical' piece of equipment. If you are using it, keep it for now. If it is collecting dust, it might be time to move it. Remember, buying, selling and trading is work. All of my gear is replaceable.

Been on the fence about this amp but, the MADE IN CHINA logo on the back really killed it for me. that said...Keeping this in perspective, I get the reason this amp was brought to fruition. great usable sound at an affordable price point. but, for me... the stealth was the last real 100-watt amp Eddie was involved with, as it was the last amp, he took on tour. The EL34 as well.

The Stealth might have been the last HIGH END amp he used, since they managed to release it to the public way before he died. The Iconic was also a project he was involved in, but am I'm sure you'd never see him touring with it since it was a BEGINNERS amp from the get go. The designer, James Brown, has been commenting all over social media about this amp, and by his word, he said that EVH himself was very involved in the creation of this amp.
