The part when Jessica was reading along to the book out loud gave me CHILLS! I absolutely loved this film and thought it was the scariest and darkest Evil Dead film yet! ❤

It's pretty brilliant to pull a passage from an Emily Bronte novel. That's definitely something a young girl would be reading and that specific passage about sliding the child's wrist across the broken glass (in the book, its essentially a ghost from his past, not a real child) is perfect. As she closes the book to make Jess stop, the demon immediately follows with "finding it useless to attempt shaking the creature off." That's essentially what the friend was trying to do by closing the book, but it was useless. That's so good man! Not only creepy but very clever! This scene alone is worth the price of admission. I love horror movies, and this scene genuinely gave me chills. The way she starts reading the book her friend is reading out loud, and her voice changing pitch, getting louder, and more aggressive, c'mon that's world class horror right there! For me, it immediately goes on the list of creepiest movie scenes of all time. Bravo to those behind this movie! Cool

This is the best horror movie ever in our collection, just so u know its raining now at our town. Iam watching things that which makes terrifying everyone , watching this in" NIGHT" is the horrifying , I dare don't but doing. Hope this night is unforgettable ever.!!

Also might I say, I’ve been VERY impressed with horror movies lately. Evil Dead Rise, TERRIFIER 2, Smile, Scream 6. All great films. Hope they keep it up. 😈🙌🏽

It is practical :/ I saw the movie prop they used. I think they needed to do a better job making it actually look like the guy.

@@arden7281 I think it's practical with some CGI touches. Either way, it does look very fake and nothing like the actor. They simply should have shot the actor and digitally removed the body around the head and neck.

Watched it last night and though I do prefer the "Evil Dead" remake that came out in 2013, this one was actually pretty damn good! Bloody and suspenseful as expected! Deffinately a good watch!!

I agree, though the first time I saw the movie in the cinema I didn’t notice that the head indeed looks a little silly. However, later in the movie special effects, makeup and CGI were all phenomenal.

They’re not ending the franchise here, I guess next movies are already planned and I’m pretty sure we’ll get to see Mia or Beth in future sequels.

@@lampasixI don't think Mia will come back as Jane Levy had a rough and tough time playing Mia as the drug addict, a deadite and the final girl in the 2013 remake which was tiring for her.

Though I have seen all the Evil Dead movies, there is something so great about the remake and Evil Dead Rise that I just love the more serious tone to them. Even thought the Original movies are classics, the new movies are so good.

It's uncanny how any studio cuda thort this was not a potential plex hit? It's now easily outgrossed every other installment in the franchise thus far - reckon HULU equally missed a trick with *Hellraiser* last year, an the only *Chucky* they bother putting in theaters was that awful 'reboot' , while the OG Mancini/Dourif gets buried on episodic tv.

I'm not understanding how Jessica gets possessed. So, the 5 souls were taken then the "main" demon was killed, shouldn't that have been it? I remember in the 2013 version, there was an "abomination" thingy that came to Mia from hell after the 5 souls were killed and then she had to kill that, but that is clearly not what happened as Jessica is possessed by the same thing as Ellie. So I'm confused.

Jessica was possessed by the same “rushing force” that threw Ellie in the elevator. At the end, the sees the aftermath of the demon being killed and the force attacks her. And also, it’s not necessarily it in this movie because the deadites are much more harder to kill in this movie. (Ex: Beth & Ellie’s neighbor shooting Ellie multiple times)

And also at Ellie’s apartment, the “5 souls” really didn’t apply as more than 5 were killed/possessed. (Ellie, Bridget, Danny, Little boy and his big brother, Gabriel, and Mr. Fonda)

@@sayitaintso0213 Have you seen the 2013 Evil Dead? It was in the book that after the deadite got the 5 souls, the only way to kill it would be either buried alive, dismemberment or burning them (fire). Before, I was thinking that Jessica shouldn't have been possessed because the deadite got the 5 souls and was then killed, but now I'm assuming the only way that Jessica could've gotten possessed was that Beth didn't kill the deadite the 1 of the 3 ways I mentioned above. I was confused as to how she could've been possessed if the deadite should've been abolished, but I see now that it would actually still be around (just without a host who would end up being Jessica obviously) because Beth didn't kill it "properly".

@@J32_ allow me to explain from my limited understanding; there are 3 different ‘books of the dead’ (the necronomicon being the one from evil dead 2013), and the one in this movie being a different one. I suspect that each book summons different kinds of demons and the book in this movie summons the ones that are more difficult to kill.

The only thing i liked about this movie was this opening scene and the movie title coming up was so iconic. Absolute chills. Wish the rest of the movie went as that good tho. After locking the mom outside it was downhill from there. Until then i thought it was very good, there was so much potential.

The foreshadowing with the kid talking about the drone not decapitating you and scrambling your face, and then the thing scrambling the deadites face and falling in the lake to lure him in, just for him to be decapitated is *chefs kiss* 🤌🏻
