I think using a dagger with a healing enchantment would be an effective torture method. As soon as it creates a wound in the prisoners flesh, it heals it and the wound seals shut as the blade exits.

@@afterwalker6773 Two of my players actually interogated someone by splashing them with water hitting them with shocking grasp and then stabilized them and rinse and repeat like 5 times and it was brutal and amazing

This reminds me of video game testing. Just rows of a single character being killed in every way in a vast void by the player character over and over to test different aspects. If you can ever get to left over test areas in games it really feels like some kind of hellish reality.

I don’t actually know much about Dark Sun, but Forgotten Realms has always been my favorite. There are a lot of reasons, some of which include the characters. It’s impossible to beat Jarlaxle.

Todd the real reason the DM looked at you not so ok wasn't the story, it was that you would use all those diamonds to ask a few questions. Admittedly I wanted to do the same thing in Dragon Heist but the gold cap in AL makes it difficult to do that unless you have a pre season 8 character.

When my friends and I played a game of Avernus. Everyone loved the hollyphant saying "Aww! It's so cute and precious". I however called it a horror that at the first chance will turn into a bag of exp or a meal if we get hungry. Suffice it to say I wasn't allowed to be too close to the hollyphant.

With regards to the pitch for the "Descent into the Abyss" campaign, Out of the Abyss already provides a great jumping-off point, with Demon Lord statblocks that are probably appropriate for a party who gets through Avernus via the evil route. If you do the good route ... you could go deeper into Baator, but the power vacuum could probably also lead to some demon-fighting! Instead, please do Planescape after the Eberron expansion! If it's a 15-20 sequel to Princes of the Apocalypse you could start with some Drow coming up from deeper than the Fane having used the opportunity (the portals being opened) to free Tharizdun. Have the players scavenge the inner planes for pieces of an artifact (Maybe the Rod of Seven Parts?) and end with them re-imprisoning Tharizdun. That'd be amazing.

Most evil thing one of my characters (half orc barbarian) did was knock a man unconcious and then cut his leg off, used a tourniquet, and tied him to a tree. I covered his lower half up and then cooked his leg. When he woke up I interogated him and fed him a nice dinner of "pork". Once i got all the information i needed i uncovered his stump and then took a big huge bite in front of him. To be fair he stole my greataxe, placed it in a bag of holding and then stabbed the bag.

I am 99% certain that it's the Sibriex's flesh warp table. It has 20 options and some of them are actually benefitial - darkvision, functional wings, tail that functions like the whip weapon. Others are quite bad - ears fall off and (I am not joking) run away, arms and legs switch places. A handful are just goofy - eyes pop out and are now eye-stalks, skin and hair change color (any color is valid).

I imagine it'd be fun to take characters as imps and say, "Congradulatios! You've just been promoted into imps! Do what you will, and if you gain enough power, you can become a spined devil. Succeed, whatever way you'd like, and you can become a spined devil, and if you succeed in that, you grow a beard. Succeed on that, you can become a merregon or barbed devil, depending upon your past life. Should you do well in that form, you could get upgraded to a barbed devil, then a chain devil, then a bone devil. If you please or kill your superiors, you could eventually become a horned devil, or an orthon should you have proven yourself as an effective bounty hunter. From there, you will transform into a Narzugon or Ice Devil. Swear fealty to an archdevil, and you become an Amizu after that. Prove your worth in combat, you become a pit fiend. From there you enter the world of infernal politics, where you need to outmaneuver other pit fiends and the archdukes to ascend through the ranks of archdevils. Your campaign task is to take control of the Nine Hells. Good luck. What do you do?"

They need to bring the summoner back into the game. With maybe one big summon that levels up with you over time. Bringing something like that into avernus would be interesting.
