I was aware of that. It's a horrible realization for a four old child. I went to school in a nice upper middle class neighborhood. Almost all of the fathers were at the highest levels of accomplishment. One was an architect who designed a famous building in Chicago. Carl Sandburg had lived about two blocks from my house. The neighborhood was originally a place where the ultra wealthy build their estates outside the city of Chicago Other were business owners, executives, etc. My high school was ranked seventh in the nation, of public schools. My point is that it was one of the best neighborhoods, where parents could expect to raise their children in safety, with the best of everything. It wasn't a ghetto school. But I started young and I was about a year younger than all the other kids in my class, and I was smaller. They took to picking on me right away. I didn't know what to do. My mother told me they were just trying to get a rise out of me, and I should ignore them. I was ignoring them as hard as I could when they surrounded me on the playground, screaming at me and tugging my clothes and slapping me. All I did was make a fist and they jumped me, piling on. My consciousness left my body and went way up into the sky, where I was looking down on what looked like ants swarming on the sidewalk, and I looked more closely until I saw teachers pile out of the school to drag a lifeless body out from under the pile of kids. When I realized it was me, my consciousness went back into my body. That was only the start of a series of fights, in which I was fighting all the other boys, and they were determined to kill me. It didn't help that I was smart and I learned to fight quickly. I could beat them up all at once, and I had an unfortunate tendency to laugh at them while I did it. I was outraged at the teachers who only punished me, when it was so obviously wrong, and they were supposed to be punishing the other boys, who were only getting worse. Everyone would be chanting for my blood and death. No one else would stick up for me or defend me. They avoided me and hated me, and they were all the type who would hold me down while others killed me. Worse than the fights, and worse than the horrors of war, or even death, was the realization that all those normal, church-going, little cherubs were all basically cowardly and savage murderers. Even the girls. It wouldn't take much to get them to murder people. The idea of having any faith or trust in human nature went out the window. Anyone was a potentially savage murderer if they got under a little stress or a little fear of loss. If some asshole told them to kill they would kill. And people liked to gang up on people to murder them. It's horrible to realize you're in hell and most of the people are demons in thin disguises. And it is extremely hard to find an honest man or woman. It takes heroism and fearlessness to be honest, and most people aren't up to it. I would have liked to have found that my realization when I was four years old was mistaken. I was still young enough to believe that if I looked hard enough in enough places, I would find one or two honest people. But I found people to be deceptive, dishonest, and treacherous in relationships. And there were no friends who didn't run from danger. A street gang mocked me after my friends ran away and left me to fight them alone. But they wouldn't fight me. Whenever I was facing death, I was overjoyed at the prospect of soon leaving this place where I could find no friends. A place where I knew most people were murderers.

I have PhD in engineering and I cannot stand PhDs. Everything you say is correct. It is a massive circle jerk, not just the peer review part. I had to unlearn a lot before I could learn properly again. Thanks to people like you who helped me correct my path.

I’m married to a therapist. She had a client this week a male about 19 who had a suicidal episode lasting a day over getting a parking ticket. This represents the average person at the moment. They are so fragile and live so close to the edge of sanity that I know there are many folks who are one trigger from popping off. When using temperature gauges in a controlled environment for growing plants you have to have more than one sensor to rule out heat dissipating from lights, vents, or anything thats plugged in while also having sensors near the root zone to dial in proper room temps. If using environmental controller the temp in the room is based on where the sensor is.

I have run into many people using the dunning kruger effect as an argument to shut me down... And yep their only other argument is appeal to dumb authorities.

I worked at the provinces largest hospital for children and noted that the fresh air intakes for the building were located by the entrance where there are constant idling cars waiting to pick up and drop off patients all day long. The intake for the adult hospital next door was next to the smokestack from where they burned medical waste. You could watch the smoke drift over and be pulled into the intake. This seems rather rudimentary for engineers to miss. Incompetence or malice?
