Evinrude Etec spark plug indexing

Жыл бұрынIn this video, I show how to correctly index Evinrude Etec spark plugs, I also show to how to correctly gap the spark plugs to manufactures specifications. Then I demonstrate how to install them with the manufacture torque specs. This video shows you everything you need to know and do to correctly install the spark plugs.
.Torque specifications 20nm up to 41nm
.Spark plug gap 0.71MM
NOTE
If a spark plug wont index correctly you will have to buy more. I recommend to buy 2 or 3 extra spark plugs just incase

Wat is the end result if they don't line up with injectors

They Won't run efficiently as far as I know I'm guessing it will foul the plugs more often and build up carbon deposits. Due to it not firing as best as it can. I can't imagine it would damage the engine but honestly I don't if it does or would

@@C3BFA the idea behind it is the spark from the plug is in direct line of the fresh charge of fuel entering the cylinder and not shielded by the earth electrode some car,s have twin spark plugs per cylinder for the same reason ( more Bang more power ) its that simple

@@C3BFA could be any number of things plug fouling up with it been a two stroke fuel not burning as it should coursing bore wash pre ignition if it says to index the plugs in the manual / hand book then that is what you have to do Companies spend Millions of £££££££ on R & D just to get the best out of any engine they make

Hi. Instead of buying loads of spark plugs that don't match, you can buy shims. I've just seen it on KZfaq. Google 'spark plug shims for indexing'. Hope this helps.

Ye you possibly can Ian but it would changed the position of electrode in the cylinder I'm not sure if it would cause issues and evinrude don't say to use shims they say get more plugs

@@C3BFA yes, just been looking on Etc owners group forum and some say it can cause overheating and cut down the efficient run time. They also say that some dealers will replace plugs that won't index. Just a thought.

Was a good idea Ian. But it's not talked about by evinrude so will be buying more unfortunately Nearly £60 for ,3 plugs
