If I have synths connected, should I be setting their volume to max on the synths themselves before using smartgain?

Yes, we'd recommend having the volumes on the synths set to the max before setting teh Gains on the SP8. If you do find that the output of the synths is too loud for the SP8 and you're getting clipping, then you can just roll back the volume on the synth slightly until you're getting a more suitable signal level

does the evo lineup have live processing? I just purchased the evo 4 and would like to add eq to it and have it sound good while live streaming, and recording voice overs for content. Is that possible with the evo if so, how can i go about this?

The EVO lineup doesn't have any built-in processing or DSP I'm afraid. You'd need to some kind of DAW or processing software on your computer to do this with the EVOs.

My EVO doesn’t work, app doesn’t either

What EVO product are you using? If you are using the SP8 then this would need to be connected to another device with ADAT to function. It will not connect directly to a computer via USB.
