I want to learn more about the cars and how they feel to drive on track. Instead there is endless repetition about which car may or may not make it through to the next round. Can EVO please take note of this as constructive criticism.

For 5 years EVO has been writing about “the death of performance cars” and “this is the end of the road”, and then this video is all “this is the best selection we’ve ever had”

Is it just me or is the audio balance wrong? Most of the sound is coming from the left, very annoying.

I missing "The thrill of driving" in this commentary. So far this video is better than last years, but nothing like as thoughtful and indebth journalism as in the years 2013 to 2016. Too many cars, too little comment on how they actually feel to drive

Finding things incredibly difficult to keep track off, didn't really learn anything on each car. Audio mixing is really off; the title text is barely readable; and the music is all over the place. I really wanted to enjoy it but not able to this year.

I noticed there was a Bentley Continental there which no one mentioned? Was it that bad?

Sod of all the fancy edits, the repetition about which car might or might not go through and actually show us you driving the cars and talking about how they feel.

Havent even mentioned the Bentley :D

It would have been nice to see lap times for all the cars..

Massive fan of Evo and the car journalists we see all over KZfaq, but what a strange concept for TV. Two hours of them chatting about ‘how close it is this year’ (over and over) and apologizing for not picking a particular car (probably to keep good PR for future tests) with very little car content. A real shame.

Love Evo, love the ethos, writing and journalism. I've also been reading them for 20 years but they need to look at the video format as this just doesn't work outside the mag. I learnt nothing about the cars or how they drive. 60 seconds at most on each. Letdown.

Style over substance. Not enough in car footage and commentary while driving. Love the mag though.

The videography comes across as an afterthought. None of the presenters appear to have gathered their thoughts before speaking to the camera and I’d be surprised if a script was drawn up prior to filming. Obviously print media is the focus at Evo which is fantastic. Just stick to that.

Every year I watch eCOTY and prepare to exclaim "finally return to form" but it never happens. It's nuts how a 15 year old video of Harry Metcalfe driving his Countach from south of France home, filmed with 1 camera inside and containing about three 2 minute clips of driving is more exciting and rewatchable than this is, it's sad. I will be here next year too, just in case.

The audio is pretty damn poor.

The Golf could be one of the most boring looking cars I have ever seen from a style viewpoint. It's like there was absolutely zero thought put into it.

I remember I couldn’t wait for the ECOTY magazine to come out! May I suggest a little more enthusiasm from some of you guys.. you’re thrashing the best cars around on the best roads, not attending a funeral service!

Has far as I'm concerned the Toyota Yaris GR-Four is the most exciting car to be released in 2020.

Way too much commentary about how hard it was to choose finalist cars. Way too little commentary about cars. As a result the video feels like a 30-minute long trailer. As another commenter said, please take this as constructive criticism!

Too many cars. RS7 for example, why is it there?

I can't believe people don't rate a 911 Turbo when it's clearly the most capable all rounder, any time, any place, any weather. For me that is the hallmark of a true performance car, not just one that can perform in the sunshine. Still, a great line up all round, keep up the good work

Watching the 2013 or 14 videos (especially the last couple of mins with raw street driving at full volume) shows what PC has done to the world the past few years! Still happy to have this video as a Christmas treat!

You can't please everyone guys. Thanks for a great content, both in the mag and here. 2018 was a mistake in terms of the test format, 2019 was great but weaker in the candidates area. This ecoty is simply as it should be 8-)

Can't believe that a Lotus wasn't considered when there are 2 Porsches. Guess this is a nod to the big car makers but a bit of choice wouldn't go amiss.

Thank you Evo for releasing this. I always enjoy these videos immensely. Personally, I’d take whichever one has a decent amount of fun whilst being as slow as possible- I like driving and want to keep my licence! They’re all fast enough for the road. And I live in Germany!

Nice! This is always one of the car video events i really enjoy at the end of the year. So many nice cars. My favorites are probably the 765 LT, 911 Turbo S and the Yaris GR. High end trackday supercar, everyday supercar and a small and affordable hot hatch that's a lot more, than just a small car with bigger power. Just wish i could afford one of those :) Still a very nice little car for the money. Little critisizm: There's something wrong with the audio balancing. Wearing headphones it's a bit uncomfortable to listen to because the left ear is a bit louder than the right ear.

Just curious, but why does EVO every year not include the Corvette or the Mustang in the car of year test. ? All these cars are fantastic, would love to see how the corvette matches up.

Too much talking and not enough on the car reviews and the driving. Some of the cars in the final 8, I don’t know how they came up with those choices. I.e. Civic type R - How is that on the list, sorry.

1st time round I thought the music was a bit intrusive. 2nd time, I chilled the F--k out & . . . . I just want to thank you for a great Petrolhead visualisation of your always enjoyable ECOTY issue of the Magazine.

Great work guys, but Bentley Continental completely unmentioned? Civic barely mentioned compared with the Golf but the Civic goes through? A simple list of the 16 cars, and the 8 finalists would also have helped us understand what was there. And that strange audio mix....

Its so amazing how the Japanese giants have brought bk the passion we saw in the 90s and with a special little hot hatch i hope to see more to come out to follow in the steps of what toyota have done.

A little disappointed the Morgan didn't get a chance to prove itself on Scottish roads. It was never going to be a track weapon, but by many accounts it's as good as it gets as a fun, little drive.

When the Cayman is lurking, I don't think I want to see the ending. Don't want to be disappointed by that SAFE pick that every friggin car magazine has made in the last decade. But hopefully the long gearing will be able to dethrown it this time.

Audio balance is wrong. Left speaker dominant. Other than that it's what Evo does best. A set of journalists that all are at the top of their game, and have been for a long time. Specific shout out to the photographers - the shots in the magazine for the full article were just fabulous. Despite knowing the results, I am very much looking forward to part two tomorrow.

Really disappointed in this. All slow motion arty shorts and interviews with staff. We are here to see cars in action.

I find it mind-blowing that someone can put all this effort into producing an 1+ hour long video and screw up the audio so much and then just go ahead and leave it that way.

I absolutely love the production value of your videos, and this one doesn't disappoint! Amazing direction and camera angles guys 💯 for my money it's hard to beat the Porsche turbo s, I could be bias as I own one though 😎

VW Audi Group have not quite delivered this year. Good but not their usual great. Or is the competition just upped their game harder?

I’m a huge Evo fan. But, I Watched both episodes on the TV. Nowhere near enough driving footage and what driving footage there was, felt quite amateur ish. Certainly compared to the landscape shots etc. Far too much talking about how everyone was so undecided, too much oohing and ahhing, not enough talking about each individual car.

Wait a sec, I got to see this and the final part on local TV 2/3 days ago but it only now goes up officially? Well that's different....

Highly surprised at both Porsche cars. Thought the 911 would be right at the top considering its capabilities. Also shocked the 918 made it through as the gear box makes it nearly useless as a manual. The gearing is so long it's essentially an automatic. Great everywhere else but even Porsche acknowledge the issue but won't fix it due to price. Surprised it was even in the 16 to start.

Really glad you all were able to get Henry from carfection on here. One of the best

13:07 John Barker looks just so calm behind the wheel of a skidding GTS. That little clip just gave me a lot more respect for his writing. I've heard from Jethro and Henry that John can really wheel, and never really understood it until this in-car clip! I just wish he talked with a bit more excitement, because he definitely knows what he's doing.

Loved the clip of what appears to be a Yaris and lift off oversteer - your head says 'yaris, it'll straighten out' then it keeps drifting. Thanks awd Expectations subverted.

Going to save this one for the big screen!!
