I have to disagree with your assessment of the Paivoose Crossbowmen. I can understand that they aren't as flashy as the musket units, but they are the best unit in the game (in my opinion). While they are serviceable in a siege battle, they excel vs cavalry. Baton bolts can stop cav charges in their tracks, and penetrating shots does more than just strike through shields - each shot can hit TWO MODELS if they don't have shields, allowing you to absolutely chunk down hordes of units (which you clearly did). Additionally their accuracy, even with no accuracy buffs from their veterancy lines or doctrines, is off the charts when compared to any musket unit. They don't miss, have great sustained fire, and kill heroes constantly and consistently. Even though you weren't happy with your gameplay, you took them into a battle that frustrated you, you killed 99 enemy models, 3 players, and damaged who knows how many more and lost ZERO unit models in the process. Just wait till you try them again and have a good game. =P

I’d say this unit is still great, since I have three epic crossbow doctrines. Which increases the fire rate by 22%, an armour piecing doctrine which increases Piercing damage by 50 and armour penetration by 400. As well as an epic accuracy crossbow doctrine which increases the accuracy by 20% highly recommended to use

Of course, the only seasonal unit that’s on the unit tree and they got nerfed, meanwhile Khesigs and Falconettis have been running rampant for 2+ seasons now.

The Pavise are fairly user friendly in that they have good aiming range, accurate shots with great projectile speed. Their shots are close to that of a musket without the variation in shot accuracy but not as satisfying as rythmic boom boom of muskets. One of the problems the Pavise face is that they are very distinct so they become a priority for the enemy to kill when seen that paired with the slow movement speed its easy to get caught in a bad spot.

I like Pavise. Whenever is the right map I use them and also when I want to do hero kills for a quest, they are one of the best! I found that they are better than Tercios in a lot of circumstances, put them as they are similar units.

For me they still are one off the best units! Of course they are a suport unit, they have range rate of fire, kill everything, have stun..they survive a lot damage.

Playing sińce season 2 and I think even before seasons started. Bloody hell, when I remember og fortebracios, no matter what, I still shivver inside when I see them. When I see them, I see death.

I like the glaive damage buff synergy, i've been experimenting with the longsword's speed buff too. But the pavise have really fallen behind, same for several other gold era units like tercio's and reapers. If you want to bust through shields you can do 700 damage per shot for 2 minutes and have a few kills or just charge cav and kill them all, or use the flamethrowers to do 800 damage per model to every unit they hit + DoT. Or just use falconetti's to make massive gaps into the entire enemy formation from the other side of the map.

Personally, I really enjoy them in a defense terretory war with guildmates. They do really good dmg and are good anti cav. The slow movement doesn't matter in defense that much and they are less visible and make less noise than rifles

I just got these guys the other day, and so far each siege with them has been great. Rattans may do better at shredding unarmored, but they're utterly worthless against even minor shielding or heavy armor.

Now, this is just my opinion on things but tbh I wouldn't say Imperial Arquebusiers are good for raw damage as they need their volley fire to be insane, unlike fusiliers or tercios who don't rely on an ability to do their damage. When I think raw damage I think about the damage a unit can output without needing abilities and yes I know that on paper the imperials have higher damage than tercios but when firing without volley fire they can barely hit the broadside of a barn.

Heyy love the vids, I'm currently grinding for pavise and I'm loving my arbalists so far except for the fact that their suppressive fire ability does not work, ever since I've had them it makes them fire in an area but they deal no damage, I thought it might just be a visual bug at first that it just wasn't showing the damage numbers but I took a closer look and the enemies I target with it do not even flinch or get hit by the bolts, would love if we could bring some attention to this bug as I love the arbalists and wish their ability worked.

Nothing wrong with pavise... the problem is legendary (orange) units in general - in particular their ridiculous leadership and kit costs. You see very few oranges in siege battles as picking an orange leaves you with very little choice left in terms of unit makeup, meaning you tend to play them far too cautiously rather than unlock their true potential, to avoid running out of troops completely during the battle, and the stupid kit costs only make this worse. Free battles are not their saving grace either due to most players refusing to pick any unit that does not include the companionship of a horse.

you should take the top of the archer militia on the unit tree, its like 3k honour and gives piercing attack to all type of archers

That Camera bug is truly annoying, my unit which already at low health, instead of going down the tower they instead went up and meet the enemy head on

I remember in one of the Introduction posts for the Pavise Crossbows it said that their line formation decreases their firerate and range. Also i found using the hold V and attack made them crazy in the F1 position.

How do u get the pavise to get their shields out tho? Edit: I play poleaxe thanks to evo but I just leave them thier and get stuck in melee lol, as long as u look back at them their fine

u forget to turn F3 when fighting shields like 2-3 times :) Btw I maxed Pavise short time ago and they became one of my favourites unite right after. They are very useful by defending, u just need to set the right position for them and they will do the job for u. Got many heroes kills cuz of that and didn't even watch them. Yes, they got nerf but just cuz they were too OP. F.e. with their shock ability u weren't able to kill them as a hero. Now they are pretty balanced and IMO they are better than tercios cuz of the accuracy. Btw stack 3 units of pavise and ull see the machinegun :D

Imo imperial archers are better at everything and cheaper than the pavise I think they (pavise) should have a damage buff. Love the video :)

For the leadership cost, I feel like they are weak, I‘d rather take prefectures and farm those unit kills

Pavise rock, reapers charging and none arrive😂(joking lol) but they are vety lethal and with shields deployed they are durable, even against enemy hero shots.

I just wished they died faster to melee. I threw iron cap swordsmen at them and it took half a squad and like 20+ seconds to kill them. No range unit should be able to last that long in melee.
