As an engineer, that 3D printed jig insert was absolutely brilliant! If you want to have a higher degree of precision over the spacing, you could either use a digital caliper to set the position of each insert relative to some fixed reference point, or you could print a Vernier scale onto the top edge of the insert and print a matching scale to be attacheched to the top of the wood. A Vernier scale could theoretically give you the ability to control thickness down to below 0.001in (0.0254mm) by eye without extra tools. However the digital calipers are generally simpler to use, if you've got some money to spend on them and don't mind having to remeasure everytime you set the jig up

I feel this is one of the few applications in modern life where the hand tool method would be easier to implement. I would have given up and used a hand saw for these cuts. However technology is always more efficient once you discover the proper tools to help.

I have a question. Would using stabilizing resin on some of this wood possibly make for a more durable yaruki? I am not entirely familiar with the properties of stabilizing resin, but I know that when you use it, you're apparently supposed to use a vacuum chamber to withdraw all of the air from the thing you want to stabilize. Wood is somewhat porous, so I wonder if you force that resin into its pores, then set the resin, will the yaruki retain its "elasticity"? Will the whole piece go stiff? Will it become brittle?

I like the idea of this for curved joints on furniture. Perhaps the curve you see in the middle the arms of a chair. 家具の湾曲した接合部のアイデアが気に入っています。おそらく、椅子のアームの真ん中に見える曲線でしょう。
